So this is just a very spontaneous and somewhat sappy article meant really for one person and one person only. This spur of the moment piece is something I wanted to do after just doing a little thinking about my own player and their status and future in the league. As it currently stands, Kai Sakura is the 3rd highest TPE wide Receiver, being Lim and Withablock, with the biggest difference being I am S23 whilst those two are S22. This means that after this season when they enter regression, I am on track to be the highest TPE wide receiver, maintaining a lead over Videl-san (Valor), Tychondrius Hood (Tylus), Jackson Kingston (Daybe) and Luca Scabbia (Enigmatic). Us 5 really are a world class WR group all from the same season but that’s not really the point of this. As it stands I’m just over 1,220 TPE with this week's update, with almost 2 seasons worth of earning to go before regression. Already maxed on my build, I will probably still be maxed in my first season of regression. Quick maths, i will probably be around the 1450-1500 TPE mark as i enter regression, at 20%, that means i go to around 1150-1200 TPE after it. That’s 3 seasons of being maxed.
This is where I introduce the main part of this story. In Yellowknife, the Wide Receiver two is @deadlunatic as Mark Walker, S25 currently sitting over 800 TPE with this week's update. So that is 2 seasons younger for just over 400 TPE behind, he is clearly max earning. Earning at the same rate as me, when I regress close to 300 TPE, I will still be ahead in TPE in what would be S30. It will take a 2nd round of regression for me to be dropped under his TPE and Walker to assume the Wide Receiver 1 majority just as he hits his final year before regression.
Now, the meat of this story is all about my appreciation particularly to Deadlunatic, but it goes to all people in this position, Wide receive 2, running back 2, it stretches to defence as well. In this case of Deadlunatic, he was called up instantly for the S25 season, and as a result of him not taking primary until S31, will have spent 6 seasons under me. And you know what? This kind, fun-loving, heck of a dude who is max earning, hasn’t blinked once or complained or asked ever about getting more stats for himself. At the end of S26, he was two decent game performances away from 1,000 yards season, his first one, but he wasn’t even sure about me telling him to get put as WR1 to go for it since we secured our playoff spot, just for the team’s sake. He will spend half of his career, and majority of his prime, playing second fiddle to me and yet never seeks a way out to find his own starting spot in the league. From his callup at the start of October, it will be close to a year (6 week season plus two week offseason being 2 months time) for the 3 seasons to go past before he gets to be WR1. He gets pumped up just as much as me when I pop off just as I am ecstatic last season that as a WR2, he was 12 yards behind me but had me beat 9 to 5 in TD. He finally had that breakout season in the big leagues to really enjoy and be proud of.
The long story short of this, is people like Deadlunatic are the reason teams can reach such success. He could leave to get a higher priority role in another team but he doesn’t. He could get salty that he won’t have a flashy stat career because he spent the majority of his time behind me, but he doesn’t. These selfless individuals that make up the team are what propel teams into greatness and all of them, but for me personally with deadlunatic, deserve to be shown some appreciation for the tireless commitment to their team that provide such a pivotal cornerstone for team building and success. Deadlunatic, I really hope you have the same stella season as you did for S27, maybe leave me a few more touchdowns though. But in the LR with the attitude and personality you display, when you take the WR1 mantle I will be your number 1 fan and you can picture Jackie Chan in a cheerleading outfit wanting you to enjoy the success and riches of what you have consistently worked so hard to eventually achieve.
