It is finally game day. This is the second biggest game of my career. Could argue it is the biggest game, as I was basically just a decoy in my first Ultimus game. I was running around out there against guys way better than me at the time. This time around I can actually hold my own a little. So, what does a guy like me do before the game starts?
First off, you got to work on going to sleep at a good time. Too often people forget how much a consistent good amount of sleep can do for you. You need to make a routine out of it, where you go to bed at or around the same time every night and try to wake up at the same time every day as well. Makes a huge difference in your mental state and it really helps for recovery. So, naturally I went to bed at ten o clock last night, set my alarm for six a.m. Alarm goes off, of course I want to hit snooze, but also I am so excited I don't think I could fall back asleep even if I tried. So, I get out of bed and go take the longest pee of my life.
Next up, is my morning coffee routine. Coffee was set to start brewing at five forty five so it is nice and fresh as soon as I walk out to pour a cup. I prefer a nice dark roast, no cream or sugar for me, just nice black strong dark coffee. Pour my giant cup, walk outside to my balcony and sit in my pondering/reading chair and drink my coffee while the sun rises. Best way to start he morning for me.
Now, in order for me to fully get in the right mindset, I got for a nice easy three mile jog to get the blood flowing and the muscles all warm and ready to go. Get back from that and it is time to do some serious stretching. Need to work all the muscles out and get everything feeling 100%. After the stretching routine, I hit the weight room for some light weight reps. Once all of that is done, I head t the shower to get fresh and clean.
Next up, got to get dressed in my big game day dripfit. I am a wide receiver after all, got to come in looking like fire, nothing wrong with having some diva in ya. Time to get in the car and take a nice spirited drive to the stadium, definitely want to beat the crowd. Go in the back way to try and avoid as many of the media before I get in the locker room and get to chill with my boys.
What is next? Yea, time to play some football. Let's go!
