I know you’ve all been eagerly awaiting more content from me so I decided to write just a small little article going over the S29 draft here. Feel to share your opinions and if I don’t agree with them they will be ignored, but I still love you. (Word Count: 3992)
Baltimore Hawks
Draft Grade: A
Baltimore has been the mega first round draft team in the last 2 seasons due to the mass purge they did with veteran players a couple seasons ago. They’ve really made the most out of their drafts and their team has started to look like an all star team of users (if not for the lower overall TPE associated with them). This draft was no different and they really selected quality users once again in order to continue to shore up the holes they have (and there are still alot of them).
R1 PICK 1: Dante King (ShadyShoeLace) - Shady is a great user and they’ve really done an impressive job earning throughout the year. Their experience definitely shows through as does their bank account. This is a great pick with Preston Parker moving back to wide receiver and it really gives the Hawks two runningbacks who will be max earning for years to come. Goose has been known to be a diva in the past though so who knows, he might ask for another trade after this pick and wanting to be the top goose in town. (A+)
R1 PICK 3 - Lip Gallagher (Fever95) One of the highest risers from DSFL draft to the ISFL draft Fever has really been a steal in Portland. Now flash to draft night and he’s getting selected 3rd overall to a young, talented Hawks roster that will definitely make use of him. I think Lip will have a long, prestigious career in the Hawks black and gold and this is a slam dunk pick for the Hawks as they shore up yet another spot in their needy team. (A+)
R1 PICK 10: Will ‘Brick Wall’ Smyth (KingTag1999) - I honestly think this was a little high and they could have traded back for this pick and gotten more picks in this draft or future drafts. I’m not saying Smyth and user KingTag aren’t solid selections, I just think Smyth wasn’t necessarily first round on many boards do to his slightly lower TPE and bank account. Smyth was tied to Baltimore for quite some time and I did predict him going to the team. Not a bad pick, but if we’re thinking value I think the Hawks could have gotten their man with their next pick AND gotten more picks in the process. (B)
R1 PICK 13: Tre’Mendus Johnson (Allbetsonjames) - I honestly thought Allbets would go higher in this draft, but he still ends up in a great position with the Hawks here. He will anchor their linebacking core for years to come and this is a great value pick for the Hawks here. This pick could have easily been swapped with the Smyth pick and made plenty of sense. The Hawks continue their roll of getting quality players throughout the first rounds and that’s a testament to Frick and Hall and how they’ve started to turn this team around. (A)
R2 PICK 26: Gimmy Jaroppolo Jr (Frick_Nasty) - This was a lock pick as Frick is the GM for the Hawks, but this solidifies their quarterback position in preparation for the end of Skywalker’s career. By that time, Gimmy should be a 600ish TPE quarterback and be able to offer up some average play until he comes into his own. The Hawks don’t have many picks after this one so they really made their top picks count for another year in a row. Congrats Baltimore on a great draft once again!
New Orleans Secondline
Draft Grade: A+
R1 PICK 2: Quinton Crash (Hihihi_62) - I think this was a great pick for the Secondline and Hihihi_62 delivers the full package. One of the only true wide receivers in this draft putting up high level earning, Crash really was a lock pick for NOLA here. A great user, high earnings, needed position, and a great contributor was what they got here. Nothing else really needs to be said: (A+)
R2 PICK 23: Sir Peter Jackson (Ddrector) - What a perfectly managed 2nd round here, seriously, they traded away the second pick in the second round to NYS for pick 23 and an S30 second rounder. Then they go and draft their lock pick of Sir Peter Jackson (Ddrector GM). Smart, smart move here and another high value swap/pick of positional need. (A+)
R3 PICK 30: Elliot Hord (Hord300) - In the 3rd round here, Hord300 is an absolute steal. He is lower on the TPE side of things, but a busy real life had taken its toll on my boy Hord. I can fully see Hord developing under another year of tutelage in Portland and becoming a very solid contributor for NOLA. Hord300 is a great guy as well and I think he will fit in with his fellow Python Remus Roman in New Orleans. (A)
R4 PICK 44: Noah Johns (nlj04) - Another Portland Pythons pipeline pick! Johns has been a slow earner, but he has been active in the locker room. I think with some tlc and again, Portland tutelage, he could turn into a quality selection for the Secondline here. It just fills out a very high reward, low risk draft for NOLA that will definitely pay off in the long run for them. (A)
Philadelphia Liberty
Draft Grade: A+
R1 PICK 4: Lucid Dreams (Luciddreams702) - Lucid is one of my favorite users I’ve come across in this league and honestly this is such a homerun pick that I think Philadelphia wins out already (but there’s craziness to follow). Lucid does a great job with his media and is already in on a league job grading audio media. He fits a huge need for Philly and I think there’s absolutely no downside to this pick. (Also I predicted the pick here even though I made the selection as a prayer on my mock ) (A+)
R1 PICK 5: Chevvy Bronko (Musha6570) - This trade came out of nowhere and blew me away! Philly traded up to get another slam dunk user in Musha. I scouted Musha for the DSFL draft and they were incredibly high on my draft list there. Now add onto that a big season from them in Bondi Beach and a huge pool of TPE they’ve earned and you have yourself a haymaker 1-2 punch of picks at the top of the draft for Philly. They will need to find a way to get some money, but in Philly that can come fast and easy with the support that's there. (A+)
R3 PICK 32: In Active (WUMA) - I don’t honestly know too much about the user here but apparently he’s great in an affiliate league and he wasn’t on the TPE tracker during the draft! All cheating aside, I wholeheartedly stand behind Cody and Pat and the research the war room put in and believe this pick will be a great addition to the team. Not sure if they are staying at linebacker or moving to a different position but only the future will tell! (A)
R4 PICK 46: Tomme Salami (Tomme100) - Another user I don’t know much about and their activity was pretty low. Cody thinks he can really get Tomme on the right track and earning so we’ll see where the late pick goes and if he can contribute! (B+)
Orange County Otters
Draft Grade: A
R1 PICK 6: Suggs Upshar (Suggs) - OCO has a thing with picking Users of the Year award winners that are cornerbacks! Suggs is an incredible user and one of two Pythons secondary taken high up in the draft. Suggs brings a huge level of contribution through media and analysis and along with Gragg9, OCO is going to have a super team of sim analysis and team building. I’m honestly a little jealous that those two are on the same team and a bit terrified of what they are going to do together. This is a slam dunk pick up for OCO and Blasoon has really made it clear what kind of team they’re building over there. (A+)
R2 PICK 20: Jack DiNozzo (Haseo) - I don’t personally know this user all that much, but they seem to be another affiliate user that has had great runs in the past. OCO definitely needed a tight end and DiNozzo is definitely that. They were earning pretty well and I think with the people in that locker room Haseo will continue to develop their player into a solid contributor throughout their career. However, I do think there were other higher tpe player/user combos available here at this pick. (B+)
R3 PICK 29: Rean Schwarzer (Bowl0) - Schwarzer as a player had a great rookie season at the cornerback position, but I don’t know a ton about the user. Bassoon seems to have a good feel for him though and I think it’ll pan out as a great move for the team here in the third round. (A)
R3 PICK 34: Will Stern (Legion of Slugs) - By the sounds of things, OCO got crazy lucky or just had a super great ability to steal here. Sterns joined late, already has 100+ TPE and is a great fit for the OCO locker room. I can’t think of getting a better pick than that in the middle of the third round of the draft. Honestly, this might end up being the steal of the draft and I commend OCO on a continued draft that looks like it’s high reward and low risk. These kinds of drafts are how you build a franchise. (A+)
R3 PICK 38: Yetiman Beardstein (Yetiman) - OCO just has the inside track on steals or what? The connections they spoke of in the draft make this pick worth it at this point in the draft and especially at offensive line. OCO was extremely close to getting an A+ throughout this whole draft if not for the Dinozzo pick that was a bit early in my opinion. (A)
R4 PICK 48: Malik F. Doom (OvrlOverallOveralls) - A late round pick thats inactive. Not much else to say than that but hopefully they come back and earn. If they do this would become a great value pick for OCO. (?)
Colorado Yeti
Draft Grade: A
R1 PICK 6: Sam Squanch (EricNCSU) - EricNCSU is one of the top users in this draft in my opinion and although I had him a bit later in the first round to Baltimore in my mock, I’m happy to see him go to Colorado here. They get a high quality dude that has earned at one of the highest clips and has been incredibly active in a variety of locker rooms. He will contribute and play at high levels for seasons to come so great pick here! (A+)
R2 PICK 21: Emperor de Pengu (Sylphreni) - I’m not sure if I hit on this in my mock draft that Sylphreni was the GM of Colorado, but this is their lock pick in the second round for their offensive line. There’s not much else to really say here, but it fills a need for the Yeti along their line and it’s the last pick of the draft that the Yeti had. (A)
Honolulu Hahalua
Draft Grade: A
R1 PICK 8: David Frank (IceBear32) - Honolulu definitely needed a linebacker for the future here in the first round and I think they took one that will be a great fit for them. IceBear is a great user as well that will contribute in multiple different ways. I know he was also willing to switch positions so that could be a boon next year for the Hahalua as they look at the draft before he’s called up. (A+)
R2 PICK 22: Teddy Murphy (Trashae) - As I said in the prior pick, Honolulu needs some defensive pieces in this draft and both of these linebackers they’ve taken can be swapped around and switched so this is a very high value pick. Trashae came in late to Portland but he definitely came in ready to contribute and earn there. I think this pick will work wonders for the Hahalua and they will be very happy with what they are getting both as a player and a user. (A)
R3 PICK 36: Freddy Bly (Sapp2013) - Taking a quality kicker and punter can be very important and I think Honolulu fills their need for a future replacement for Powers here. Sapp2013 is an experienced user and a good addition to their locker room so they really can’t have any regrets about doing this here. (A)
R4 Pick 50: Noel Akerele (InciteHysteria) - Hail mary, full of grace...blah, blah, blah...late round pick they hope will come back, but overall they’ve had a very good draft and this one doesn’t count against their record here. (?)
San Jose Sabercats
Draft Grade: B+
R1 PICK 9: Panda McKyle (FuriousPanda) - I think from a user stand point this is a great pick as FuriousPanda is a great locker room person. I don’t necessarily think that they needed a quarterback here, but if they were set on Panda and knew the Wraiths would take him here then good on them for their foresight. I do think if they were just looking positionally, they could have traded this pick and then taken Oles in the second round while getting more draft capital to fill more needs. Panda is a fantastic addition though so it’s hard to judge it too harshly here. (A)
R2 PICK 15: Buffalo Hunter (BOOM!) - BOOM! Is a phenomenal user and one of my favorites. If you’re looking for a quiet dude that really contributes and will be flexible for you, this is the pick. A great value for San Jose here at this pick as he’ll likely move wherever they need. His graphics are freaking dope so if you’re needing one then hit him up. I honestly wish he would have landed on the LIberty with me, but he’s just too valuable to have fallen to another Philly pick spot.(A+)
R3 PICK 31: Guy Gibson (Urq660) - This pick baffles me a little bit as Guy has been around throughout the whole season and has put up only a small amount of earning. I don’t know the user very much and have heard little of them, but I think that San Jose could have done a lot more with this pick with who was remaining on the board. (C+)
R4 PICK 45: Duck Awntop (.Duckszy) - Duck is a high TPE player to be left this late. I don’t know alot about the user but they hadn’t been very active for the last part of the season. I don’t have much else to say, but if Duck can become active again for the Sabercats this could turn out to be a steal of a pick. (B+)
Yellowknife Wraiths
Draft Grade: A
R1 PICK 11: Jay Cue Jr. (OperaPhantom) - When you’re able to select a user like OperaPhantom in the late first round you’re winning. Jay Cue Jr. goes to a team in need of young offensive talent here and I think Yellowknife is ecstatic to bring him in. They are going to be able to use him in a variety of ways if they decide to call him up right away ro he can continue to develop for another season at the DSFL level. This pick really solidifies the future of the offense for the Wraiths and they get a great dude for the locker room. (A+)
R2 PICK 25: Amadeus Redding (CmdrWalrus) - Redding joined late after the draft and has put up very good tpe since. This pick fits well with what the Wraiths need and he is well known by the Wraith war room members as the Gms of BBB are in there. (A)
R3 PICK 42: Charity Beaver (NumberOneDork) - This is mostly a pick they’re sending out in hopes they can get the user to amp it up a little bit to raise that TPE up. The Wraiths take a chance here and with a pick like this it’s just chance. As the last pick for the Wraiths, they made the most out of what they had for selections I think and end up with a reasonable draft class.
Arizona Outlaws
Draft Grade: A
R1 PICK 12: Marcus Jones (Drizzy) - I honestly thought Drizzy would be picked up by Baltimore early on in this draft and was kind of surprised he wasn’t. Arizona gets an absolute steal of a pick in this position and Jones will fill right into a very aging linebacking core. They solidify a pick that will pay them dividends over the next handful of seasons. (A+)
R3 PICK 40: Fitted Cuddles (CPetrella) - This looks like a pick of a veteran user who has a bit of a pre-existing presence in the league. Although, his tpe is lower, I think he’s in a good spot to recover from that and be a part of the Outlaws future. Not a pick that’s going to blow you away by any means or that really fills a super big need, but it’s not a bad pick here in the third round. (B+)
Berlin Firesalamanders
Draft Grade: A
R1 PICK 14: Gronku Muerto (Kezkincaid - Kez is a great user to take at this position in the first round for Berlin. With experience across other sims and a lot of other users speaking highly of him throughout the draft season here. He fits what Berlin will be needing here in the next couple of seasons and his position here gives him the chance to stay down another year and develop his TPE numbers a bit more (which are already incredibly good). (A)
R2 PICK 28: Ilove Hotsalads (Dewalt27) - Berlin’s GM pick here in Dewalt. They need a DT, they get a DT and really it fills a great need for them at this point so good planning on that. Not much else to say here! (A)
R3 PICK 39: Izuku Campbell (GTPK4) - Getting a kicker/punter isn’t bad right? I don’t know much about the user besides he’s related to Starboy (a recreate). Berlin hopes to get him motivated to do more and they could get a good deal for a kicker and punter for seasons to come. (B+)
New York Silverbacks
Draft Grade: A-
R2 PICK 16: Joey Marston (Capt_Blitzkrieg) - The Silverbacks really put it on the line to get their man here. The gorillas head office put through a trade here (a very smart one imo) to go out and snag Marston here. Capt_Blitzkrieg is a great user and tight end was a reasonable pick for the Silverbacks at this point in the draft. Ultimately, Blitz is such a good user that with his background with others on the team I really think it all worked out great for New York here. (A)
R3 PICK 35: Janis Lux (Lukstins88) - This is a user knowing another user pick and I think it could work out very well for the Silverbacks here. Lukstins earning wasn’t amazing, but it doesn’t take much to bounce back and become a replacement in a couple seasons for the aging New York wide receiving stable. (B+)
R4 PICK 51: Caitlyn Catowize (CrazyCaityCat) - As far as a Miss Irrelevant goes this one is kinda promising. The user has been a GM in another league and could possibly come back to try things out? Good luck to the Silverbacks with that, but not a bad chance to take. (B)
Sarasota Sailfish
Draft Grade: A
R2 PICK 17: John Huntsman (Fronk) - Fronk’s been an active user all season and was at the top of a lot of charts in my opinion. Coming into a situation like Sarasota is pretty sweet here for Huntsman because he gets to take some time down at the DSFL before replacing Frost in the ISFL. His TPE will be great and he’s surrounded by a good group of veterans there. Overall a solid pick here for the Sailfish as they do not have a lot of needs. (A)
R2 PICK 24: Keane Lover (Moodles) - Sarasota trades up to get one of the last remaining solid offensive linemen available. Moodles is related to Mojo so this pick makes a ton of sense from that perspective as well. It’s key that Lover keeps earning and I think this team would be the place for them that best fits. They did, however, give up a lot of draft capital to do so. (B+)
Chicago Butchers
Draft Grade: A
R2 PICK 18 Rejoignez LordreSombre (Bayley) - The GM pick for the Butchers here. Bayley comes in to replace aging running backs on the roster in the near future. They traded away their first round pick to Philly for more picks and I think by doing so they really gather the high end pieces they need for the future of their offense. (A)
R2 PICK 19: Kazimir Oles Jr. (Oles) - There was a lot of talk about Oles going here and it makes sense. The only reason I did not put him here in my mock was because I did not expect them to trade and get two second round picks. Great pick here and he will come in to replace O’DOnell as he ages out. Oles has had great success in the past and I think that will definitely continue through his career in Chicago. (A)
R3 PICK 33: Amabacus Fitted (Fitted2106) - .Fitted serves as an incredible value here for the Butchers as he has a lot of experience and plenty of people say good things about his presence in locker rooms. He’s been earning at a relatively good rate and I think when in the ISFL he’ll bump that up even more as Chicago’s locker room will motivate him. (A+)
R3 PICK 37: Dick Thickum (Cnelly) - Bayley seems to have made this pick based on scouting and conversations with the user. I personally don’t know a whole lot about the user but with so many people saying great things about them I have to think there’s substance to the claims. If he can start earning he’ll be a great offensive addition to the Butchers. (B+)
R4 PICK 47 : Hououin Kyouma (Hasumiki) - Bayley has big hopes for the cornerback here and if he can earn anything like the stats he put up over the season then he’ll be a steal of a pick. With only 81 TPE as of the draft though it remains a hard sell for me as to there be a ton of hope for this pick to pan out into a starter for the team. (B)
Austin Copperheads
Draft Grade: A
R2 PICK 27 Ivan Toastavich (Toast) - Toast has a lot of high regard from the Copperheads and Birddogs locker rooms so I think this is very much a user pick here. Over they haven’t earned quite as well, but that is easy to turn around for the Copperheads. Being a receiver here also might have had something to do with it as there were not many in this draft. (B+)
R3 PICK 41: Jean-Jacques Leroy (Kanako the Squirrel) - This is a hell of a lot of TPE for someone picked in the third round in this draft. A veteran of the Austin Copperheads, kanako makes her return here and seems to be a perfect addition to the team and provides a heck of a lot of value at this point. This is the Copperheads second of only two picks. (A+)
With that I finish off my review of the draft. This draft was very exciting with all the moving parts. My next media will be coming in the form of podcasts with none other than Lucid Dreams and Shrub so look forward to that!
