Last off season I wrote an article in the off season about what the ISFL Community has meant to me since joining. I'm normally not so open with feelings but felt with so much going on it was worth sharing some parts of my story, and also I wanted to publicly show appreciation to some users specifically who helped make a difference for me. I (believe) last off season a couple of the users who I mentioned were Ice Bear, Fronk, and Negs. For many reasons I felt compelled to include them an possibly others. As this off season has now began, I got to thinking that a) I want to think of some new ways to make money (media!) and b) do my best to continue to show appreciation to people who have made an impact on me during my time here in the ISFL. This offseason's media will just focus on other users rather than my own personal stuff.
Drama is no stranger to this league nor is it a stranger (most likely) to really any community you are involved with in real life either. One thing I have learned and wrote some about in my last appreciation post was that life is pretty short and it is never a bad time to say good things to people. So with that being said, I have selected 3 new users to write about below. Overall the write ups on them will be short but hopefully they at least know they are appreciated after reading this.
@"laser" :
Laser is someone who I began calling the Emperor early last season. When he was traded to Honolulu I was honestly not sure what to think. I had heard nothing but good things about him, but also knew he was super involved with the league so figured there is a chance he maaaay not be the friendliest or possibly might not go along with my almost never serious attitude in the locker room.
Fast forward to now and maaaan was I wrong with my assumption lol. I have seen him help countless users and seemingly take on a million jobs to help make sure the show is going on. Position builds, sim strats, and predictions are things he has personally helped me with. I feel like I am someone who asks dumb questions sometimes and he has always answered as if they are not. For that, and just his overall effort in this league, I would like to say thanks Laser, you are legit the goat and I appreciate you for all you do!
@Painted :
So I first new Painted as the guy who was Gming with my real life friend Ice Bear. For a long while I had a fun personal rivalry with Minnesota due to my friendship with Ice Bear and my DSFL team being Norfolk. I think it was like last off season or maybe the one before that Painted seemed to take on some additional roles like Twitter Head and seemingly more of a leadership role in the DSFL GM chat. As a rival General Manager, he never shyed away from answer a literal boat load of questions I would send his way as I worked to get my legs under me as a new general manager. After I apologized one time for asking so many random things, he responded by saying “Good Gms= better league so I will always help out.” That really stuck with me and a perfect example of an attitude that I hope all leadership positions take. Painted! Thanks I appreciate you for all your help!
@Kobefromthefrobe :
So Kobe is my long time teammate in Honolulu. The first thing I remember about Kobe is his activity in our locker room I think my rookie season in Honolulu. I asked Ice Bear who he was and we agreed his presence in our locker room was invaluable. Kobe is one of my very favorite people in this league for his super positive attitude and the way he helps drive conversation in the locker room. We are planning on doing an interview to get some extra money in a week or two after losing money to the casino after the Ultimus (Ice Bear bad influence). Kobe you are awesome on the ISFL and the field in real life, and I appreciate you an how fun you make things for all of us!
Short – Sweet – but true. Hopefully this helps spread some positivity and you enjoyed reading! There are many others I could write about, but I will try to do this each off season so going to limit to around 3 people. Have a great day!
