Ladies and Gentlemen it has been a long time coming but now the moment you have allbeen waiting at least two season form but after a lengthy delay we are finally releasing the another exclusive interview with, Berlin Fire Salamanders number two Cornerback and ex Defensive captain (he has been this twice) Jeeeeroy Lenkins. This interview is brought to you by the one and only Stephen A Smith. Today we will be discussing the Jeeeeroy Lenkins activity out with the International Simulation Football League, how things have taken an up-turn for the Berlin Fire Salamanders in the past couple of season and ultimately the heartache the team experienced in last season’s conference final. As well as this we will be discussing some of Jeeeeroy Lenkins new and old team-mates assuming we have time.
Commercial (Sponsorship) Break – Are you tired of your kidding eating all their crayons? Are they not eating their 5 a day? Look no further as Crayola have developed new vegetables crayons that come in different flavours and sizes. We promise to turn your fat little satan spawn in to the next Jeeeeroy Lenkins, get them in your nearest supermarket, convenience store or chemist. This ad was brought to you by Crayola, proud sponsors of Berlin Fire Salamanders Cornerback Jeeeeroy Lenkins. “I use to be like you kids, then I started eating crayons and now I am a professional athlete”
Stephen A Smith – Today we are joined by my dawg Jeeeeroy Lenkins, thank you for joining us dawg how are you doing!? It’s been some time! First of all before we get started, I would like to offer you my condolences on your recent playoff loss to the Yellow Knife Wraiths, that must have hurt and no doubt still stings!
Jeeeeroy Lenkins – Yo Mr Smith it is good to see you to sir has been far too long! But you know what that means? We’ve got a hell of a lot of stuff to catch up on! Yeah you are right about the Yellow Knife Wraiths result it does still hurt. However what you need to remember is we are still a relatively young franchise we have only been a team for four or five years so there are a lot of positives to take from our run last season and ultimately untimely exit at the hand of the Yellow Knife Wraiths. What you need to remember is as well as being a new franchise we are also a young team with a lot of our players just starting to peak now.
Stephen A Smith – I am glad you have mentioned the stage the Berlin Fire Salamanders are at as a team because a lot of people are touting you guys to go the distance this season. This is undoubtedly down to the nucleus of the team built by both General Manager’s. If you couple this in with the fact the Berlin Fire Salamanders have finally been active in free agency and brought in a couple of key players in Ty Hood (wide receiver) and Derre De Ville (defensive lineman), this team is stacked!
Jeeeeroy Lenkins - Yeah Stephen we are in a fantastic position and I know you will hear this all the time from players about their team and I know it is the old cliché but I truly believe this team has what it takes to go the distance. If I was a gambling, which I am I would bet my house on us representing our conference in the Ultimus Final this year and being the first team to bring it back to Europe.
Stephen A Smith – I love the confidence Jeeeeroy I would not be surprised to see you in the Ultimus this season and I know you like a big wager so I hope for your sake you stick good to your claim and get yourself a ring. It was widely touted before the Sarsota Sailfish v Yellow Knife Wraith game that the Berlin Fire Salamander players thought Sarasota Sailfish would have been a more suitable opponent for you and you were confident you would have beaten them if you were up against them. Why do you think that is and do you think that mind set was ultimately detrimental and played a key part in your loss?
Jeeeeroy Lenkins - Not at all Stephen the guys and I go into every game believing we will outscore, outwit, outplay and outsmart every team. We do not really pay much attention to what the media say, no disrespect but when you have guys like Skip Bayless running their mouth every other day you learn to tune it out and not pay any attention to it. We played Sarasota Sailfish home and away last season as we always do and we won both games. The games against Yellow Knife Wraith we won one and lost one. Neither game was going to be a walk in the park especially when none of the four games we played in the regular season were a walkover. When it comes to playing in the post season you are up against the very best there is on offer and regardless of the opponent it is always going to be a hard game.
Stephen A Smith – Ha ha ha I love it, I have to be careful what I say about Skip but I am sure you will do enough slandering for the pair of us that I will not need to say a thing! I now want to focus on a player that played in their debut season for the Berlin Fire Salamanders defence last season and that is rookie defensive end Marlon Brando. Who was definitely in contention for rookie of the year never mind defensive rookie of the year, what is your take on their performance and how big a contribution did they make to the team?
Jeeeeroy Lenkins - Man I have nothing but love for young Marlon the kid has been an absolute stud since day one. He has walked right into the locker room and has immediately become one of the guys and you will do well to find anyone that has a bad word to say about Marlon!
Stephen A Smith – I feel ya dawg! I mean in my opinion Marlon Brando was definitely in contention for rookie of the year never mind defensive rookie of the year, which he rightfully won! What is your take on their performance and how big a contribution did they make to the team?
Jeeeeroy Lenkins - Yeah Marlon was head and shoulders above the all the other rookies in the league in my opinion you only need to look at how much our (Berlin Fire Salamanders) record improved once he was in the line-up and making plays. He should have won Rookie of The Year but I know for a fact he is not too bothered he is happy with Defensive Rookie of The Year and would much rather have got a ring at the end of the season than either award!
Stephen A Smith – I know I know, and we will move on from Marlon Brando shortly but his numbers were definitely impressive and he is what you would call a defensive playmaker and unless you are Aaron Donald you would expect that label to be brandished to someone in the secondary or within the linebacker core not the defensive line! I mean he forced three fumbles, recovered two fumbles, two sacks and had 9 sacks which lead the whole Berlin Fire Salamander defence, he played lights out and would really appear the that the sky is the limit for him! Quickly going back to the sacks he had 9 more than you Jeeeeroy HA HA HA!
Jeeeeroy Lenkins - Ha ha you just had to get that in Stephen didn’t you!? I am a cornerback just because I am heavier build does not mean I am going to be pressing battling out with the big heefter’s to try and sack the quarterback, my role is to lockdown other offensive players. Going back to Marlon though yeah you are spot on, the sky really is the limit for him! I have a sneaky feeling he will be our defensive captain next season you know and I for one will be right behind him. He can definitely lead us to glory! He will definitely take over some of the leadership responsibilities we have lost with Krause leaving our defence!
Stephen A Smith – I know Jeeeeroy I just could not resist it, watch out someone mind create a meme about you with the uno cards do you know the one I mean? It will be like “record a sack or pick up twenty five cards” then it will just show a picture of you holding half the deck in your hands ha ha! I am glad you have brought up Matt Krause because I have heard a few murmurs through the grape vine that he has not or did not take the loss to Yellow Knife Wraiths well. Do you have any more information on this so that we can have an exclusive or anything to add to it for that matter?
Jeeeeroy Lenkins - Yeah I have been asked this a few times in recent weeks and have stayed fairly quiet. But for you Stephen I can open up on it further for you so you can have your wee exclusive. None of us took the loss well and we essentially started off our offseason the day after the loss similar to what Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls did after their series loss to the Detroit Pistons, that Last Dance documentary really was incredible. Well anyway Matt Krause blamed our offensive line heavily for our loss, not that I can blame him as Nick Kaepercolin got hit/pressured a lot and we were not creating lanes for Danny King Jr but we win and lose as a team and if we had played to the best of our abilities on defence then we would have won anyway regardless of how slow we were on offence. Like I say though Krause saw it differently and he decided he was going to bulk during the offseason, so whilst the rest of us were training every day, we saw Krause maybe once or twice every 2 weeks if we were lucky. He had told us he was going to move to offensive line and at first we thought he was just at the wind up, but nah he was being serious man and every time we saw him he was just getting heavier and heavier. It really was quite a remarkable change. I like to say I played something in him gaining the size that he did because he really did gain some serious mass, like fat Mac (from It is Always Sunny in Philadelphia).
Commercial (Sponsorship) Break – Are you tired of your kidding eating all their crayons? Are they not getting enough fats/protein in their diet? Look no further as Crayola have developed some brand new crayons that come in different flavours and sizes. As part of our new “Scottish Fry Up” range. We promise to turn your skinny little satan spawn in to the next Xmus Flaxon Jaxon Waxon (Colorado Yeti) or better yet Buster “Boulder ” Bawls (New York Silverbacks), get them in your nearest supermarket, convenience store or chemist. We strongly advise kids under the age of 12 do not touch these products but then again American chains such as iHop do claim that “daily calorie intake varies and may not be the same for everyone”, this is whilst they serve breakfasts with larger calorie amount than your daily recommended intake. Hence why a lot of Americans are morbidly obese, you know what is another obese country? Scotland and that’s why we are launching our 6 new flavours; Haggis, Black Pudding, Tattie (Potato) Scone, Irn Bru, Tablet and Fudge. This launch is in partnership with the Scottish National Football (real football) Team qualifying for their first major tournament in twenty three years. Cons of this product - your kid will most likely start to develop cholesterol issues if these crayons are consumed regularly. Pros - may cause baldness or your kid will have ginger tinge about them, will also become fearless and never feel the cold. This ad was brought to you by Crayola, proud sponsors of Berlin Fire Salamanders Cornerback Jeeeeroy Lenkins and was part of the Matt Krause Offensive Linemen training program. Jeeeeroy Lenkins “I use to be like you kids, then I started eating crayons and now I am a professional athlete”.
Stephen A Smith – Welcome back you really set that up perfectly Jeeeeroy didn’t you? Thank you for the exclusive and you heard it here first. Matt Krause now former Berlin Fire Salamanders cornerback is going to be switching position to Offensive Line and staying with the Berlin Fire Salamanders.
Jeeeeroy Lenkins – Ha ha well you know me Stephen got to rep my sponsor they have done me a lot of good! Especially the partnership we have with our new Scottish Fry Up selection. Not sure if you are aware Stephen but the Tartan Army are off to their first major tournament in 20+ years, it is amazing man.
Stephen A Smith – I knew this would come up and I have been dreading it talk I am not a fan of soccer it is like the eighteenth biggest sport here in the only country in the world the with our star spangled banner! But I know it is a big deal to you so I will give you your time and let you talk about it because that is the type of guy I am! Who is even in your group and do you reckon you will progress far in the tournament?
Jeeeeroy Lenkins – Man Stephen why you got to play me like that? I know “soccer” is not big here but it is the correct sport to prescribe the word football to and is the biggest global sport in the world. Not to mention when we say a team is champions of the world or Europe they actually are. None of this World Series or World Champions nonsense where the sport is not even played out-with your country. How can you be world champions when the competition or teams involved are all from the one country or if it is basketball 1 continent because there is like one Canadian team? Give it a rest man. Anyway back to the Tartan Army we have play Czech Republic, England and Croatia in that order. I know we will be massive underdogs but I will be backing us all the way! At the end of the day a lot of us are just happy to have made it. It is a real shame that we will not be able to go to the games to cheer on the Tartan Army due to the pandemic but we will be cheering our boys on in spirit! Also do not tell my General Managers of the Berlin Fire Salamanders I am actually travelling to London for the game with a few friends. We are going to take over Hyde Park and wee Meatball is going to back the goal that seals our famous victory over the English!
Stephen A Smith – I am not even going to pretend I understood much of what you said there Jeeeeroy so we will probably just move on as we are approaching the end of our time anyway. Another thing I will bring up though is I watched the Josh Taylor fight the other night. Another big sports star from your country, just how good was it watching him fight the other night and become the undisputed champ?
Jeeeeroy Lenkins – It was amazing Stephen, the Tartan Tornado absolutely cruised the fight. Scandalous he only won by the 2 points, turns out the 2 knockdowns did it for him. But man the American judges made it hard work, I am grateful he got the win because he well and truly would have been robbed if it was given as a draw. We have witnessed robberies over here in the past, I mean you do not have to look too far back to see Tyson Fury get robbed when he fought Deontay Wilder, man was cruising, albeit he got knocked down late on, that was something special when Fury got up before the ten count though wasn’t it? Man get excited just talking about it, got a lot of love for the Gypsy King! You saw his dominance in the second fight as well and then Wilder came out with the pathetic excuse that the gear he wore down to the ring was too heavy, he picked it out f*cking idiot man 40 pounds extra weight or something boy got schooled plain and simple.
Stephen A Smith – Woah woah we are digressing here Jeeeeroy let’s get back to football and the Berlin Fire Salamanders. What are your predictions for the season?
Jeeeeroy Lenkins – Sorry Stephen I have no time for people who make sorry ass excuses, I am also upset Wilder has ruined our chance at seeing Anthony Joshua get smashed by Tyson Fury. It is the fight every fan wants to see and I fear it might not happen or if it does it will be similar to when Mayweather finally decided to fight Manny Pacquiao and we all know that was when Manny was past his best. In terms of the Fire Salamanders I reckon we will go 11-5 and clinch the bye, then end up playing the Arizona Outlaws or the Austin Copperheads and my brother Tony Yeboah! That would be something special if either of us won it I would be happy, I mean I would prefer to win it but if he did I would be happy for him.
Stephen A Smith – Good to hear Jeeeeroy there has been rumours doing the rounds for a few years now that you were going to get drafted by the Austin Copperheads but their scout Kyle had a source who said you were thinking about hanging up the jockstrap so they did not bother. Do you know if there is any truth to that?
Jeeeeroy Lenkins – Yeah there is plenty of truth to that Stephen, the source that gave him the dodgy and incorrect information goes by the alias Asked Madden, whoever that is I do not know. I would have loved to have been a part of that organisation but I am absolutely delighted at where I have ended up.
Stephen A Smith – Well that is all we have time for folks. Thank you for your time today Jeeeeroy and I will be keeping a close eye on you and the Berlin Fire Salamanders. I wish you all the success in the world and hopefully next time we speak you will be a World Champion!
Jeeeeroy Lenkins – Thanks Stephen, an absolute pleasure as always, and you got World Champions right because there are teams playing from more than one continent!
