Hey guys and gals and everything in between WildfireMicro here with an interview with a bunch of Liberty rookies and prospects! We will be going through each interview individually as I asked each user different questions. I ended up getting a lot of different perspectives and thoughts regarding the Liberty and the league so I hope you all enjoy! Without any further ado let's begin!
Interview with In Active aka Wuma on Discord:
Me: How do you feel about being left out of the mock draft?
Wuma: I felt strongly that it was a conspiracy by the league to keep In Active out of the first round of the draft, and I still feel like it was designed to be that way. Look, no one comes into the DSFL and puts up the same stats that In Active put up. Do the research, he was the only one. How do the Gm's of almost every team see the name In Active, and think 'golly, he must be inactive. I won't bother looking at him'. Do you think it's a coincidence? I sure don't.
Me: How do you feel about being here in Philadelphia?
Wuma: I'm stoked to be here. Growing up, I went to high school in New Jersey. We'd take field trips to Philly to see the Liberty Bell, and tour the city. To come here and have a chance to play for the fans of this city, I'm super excited to see what we can do. The team has been great to me so far, and the GM Pat had some intense negotiating skills when it came down to my contract. It's gonna be mayhem when I finally come up to play for the team, and we're going to dominate the league.
Me: And now I have to ask: why the name In Active? I mean I'm all for meme names I'm just curious
Wuma: A bunch of guys from the SHL got drafted to the Carolina Kraken there, and they talked me into recreating in the ISFL. I figured I wouldn't last long, so I picked the name that was going to be most fitting for my player. In Active. Now it's just ironic, since not showing up on the tpe tracker or the mock draft has actually lit a fire under my ass to make every team regret not looking at me. I also want to copyright the term IA, and try to collect money any time someone calls a player IA. I'm still working on how to pull that off.
Me: I see. Now what do you think In Active brings to Philadelphia?
Wuma: A level of Activity they've never seen before. That would be a good line for a sports drink, or clothing line. Maybe shoes? I'll have to work on that. But anyway, In Active is going to make the hall of fame. It just has to happen at this point. To get the snub he got, there's too much motivation to keep him out of the hall. What does any hall of fame career need? Championships. What does In Active need to make it to the hall? Championships. In Active is also a one team kind of guy. I want them to name a nursing home in Philly after In Active when his career is all said and done.
Me: That is definitely an interesting answer! Now In Active seems to be extremely mysterious. Can you reveal any details about him?
Wuma: Unfortunately, it's kind of limited what can be revealed about In Active right now. Some stuff has to be saved for the book deals, ISFL 30 for 30, and future media articles about him. Rest assured though, there's going to be a lot more to In Active than meets the eye.
Me: Even Tsuyu cannot get a read on In Active and she likes to personally meet new Liberty teammates. Now what kind of player build are you hoping to create?
Wuma: In Active will only be one kind of player - the best. That's the only goal he has in his career. Specifically, he wants to be the best OL out there. His main focus is working on getting faster and more agile, he wants to be in the back field every play before the quarterback knows what's about it hit him. But it's not the first play he wants the quarterback to worry about. It's the 21st, the 35th. Those plays once the game has been going. In Active wants to In Spire fear.
Me: That is great to hear! Any final words?
Wuma: In Active is going to feels bad for the competition. There's going to be a lot of pain handed out over the coming seasons. And also, I'll take my cheesesteak with. Forget without.
Interview with Xavier Walls aka Titan on Discord:
Me: Who was your inspiration when making your player?
Titan: Honestly, I love the way that Anthony Barr played the game when I'd watch Vikings games and I wanted to be that kind of player. It's really cool that my player has started to actually emulate that in the sim as well.
Me:I see! Now you were amazing in your first game. How did you react to that?
Titan: Well, we (Romulus Roman and I) were in the Liberty general voice Channel and we were just having a blast watching and chatting! I never expected to contribute so much in our first game but I'm so happy I gave us a chance to win the game in the end. Can't expect that every week but it's a great feeling to be clutch for a team that's really embraced us and accepted us like Philly has.
Me: Yeah we at Philly love the crop of rookies we are continuing to get! Now do you feel that Philly is the best drafting team in the ISFL currently and is there a team besides Philly that is also really good?
Titan: I don't know of another team that has accumulated as many high quality users throughout all round of the drafts like Philly has in the last couple seasons. Baltimore obviously has had very good drafts, but they are working with a lot of draft capital whereas Philly has been working with a normal amount of picks at each round. I think efficiency wise, Philly is the best drafting team in the ISFL currently. I think this will be really obvious in the next season to be honest. We will look back and see how many top users and players the team has. I think it's the build up of a dynasty as other teams are regressing we are going up and up.
Me: Alright then you just got called up from Portland this season. Was it bittersweet in the end?
Titan: The only part about it that I feel I'd want to go back for would be to actually win a title for Portland. We had such a good team for the last 2 years and really just didn't get past that first round of playoffs both years. But I'm excited to come to Philly and do whatever I can to bring a title to the team here!
Me: Now me and you are starting to write the Philadelphia game balls and I understand you did that for Portland first. What got you started with that there?
Titan: Well, in Portland, the team captains chose who gets them and then they also do the write ups. The last two years I was voted Defensive Captain so I wrote the game balls up for people. I also enjoy the style of writing for them so it's something I really liked doing.
Me: I see! Now one final question before the final words: what kind of person is your player?
Titan: I have made his persona based off of real life values I have and things my father had said to me. He's a good guy who wants to give back to the community and be supportive. Very much a team player.
Me: Awww that's nice. Now any final words?
Titan: I'm just excited to be in Philly and feel very lucky that I was selected by such a great group of guys!
Interview with CJ Sonjack aka Ace on Discord:
Me: How do you feel about being drafted by the Liberty?
Ace: It came as a bit of a surprise, I didn't really talk to the Liberty management team. I had no real preference on destination, so I was happy to go to a team that was on the upswing. My perception of the team has only improved since.
Me: What do you think your many many seasons of SHL GMing experience brings to the table here in Philly?
Ace: Ultimately, nothing. I would say that I have a wealth of sim league experience to lean on, but what is applicable over in that community isn't necessarily applicable here. I just know what is expected in a sim league if you want to become a dominant player, and that's the work ethic I plan to employ here.
Me: I see! It is still great to have someone with so much sim league experience at the very least. Now how has CJ Sonjack adapted to life in Philly?
Ace: It’s been a process. I’m only a couple games in, preseason and all, and it’s proving to me how much work I still have to put in. I want to be a premier CB in this league, and these wide receivers are damn good.
Me: Yeah definitely Tsuyu is still learning things. Now was you're inspiration when creating Sonjack?
Ace: My inspiration was to create an interception machine. JC Jackson was a beast in that regard last season for the Patriots, so I was hoping to emulate that.
Me: I hope you become that and more! Now how has your league job been treating you?
Ace: The league job has been good! It’s relatively easy to do and has gotten me more involved in the league, and it’s helping me keep a high earning pace.
Me: That is great to hear! Now for a bit of an off topic question but do you have any favorite irl sports teams that aren't from Boston?
Ace: I grew up an Oakland As fan in baseball. But I don’t really enjoy baseball anymore. My mom grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and that was the logical conclusion.
Me: Gotcha. Alright any final words?
Ace: Nope!
Interview with Chevvy Bronko aka Musha
Me: How do you feel about being drafted in the first round via Philly Trading up?
Musha: I feel great honestly. It is the team I most wanted to play for and it worked out. I love was shocked when they traded up to get me but very excited.
Me: How do you feel about being an immediate call up this season? Does maybe not getting as much stats as before affect you in any way?
Musha: I was actually given a choice and I chose to come up right away. I am fine with lesser stats I just wasn’t to help the team anyway i possibly can.
Me: And that is great to hear! Now I see your render is Braun Strowman. Are you a big wrestling fan?
Musha: Yes I am a huge pro wrestling fan I have been watching it since I was a child and strowman just feels like a football player
Me: I would have used Brock Lesnar personally but I agree. Now how has Cheevy adjusted to life in Philadelphia?
Musha: Great he is a regular at several cheese steak restaurants and even has a bronko burger already named after him for completing a food challenge.
Me: That is great! Tsuyu tried to a food challenge but failed. Speaking of, Tsuyu loves to cook traditional Japanese food like Ramen and rice. If she was to cook Chevvy a Japanese dish what would he want?
Musha: Sushi 100% I think that says it all
Me: She would be happy to serve him that! Now what are Chevvy's hobbies?
Musha: He does pro wrestling in the offseason and lifts a lot of weights. Other than that football is his life
Me: Those are interesting hobbies! Has he won any titles in pro wrestling?
Musha: Yes he was 24/7 champion for awhile
Me: I see. I should add him to my ongoing wrestling media whenever I get back to that. Now do you have any final words?
Musha: You should definitely. Do that. Bronko would like the world to know underestimating him would be a huge mistake. He is training harder and more than anyone and will rule the league before long. Ring the bell!!!
Interview with Rudy Gray aka Magent on Discord
Me: What got you started in the league?
Magent: Well I started playing Madden again in 2018 which got me interested in football again, then last season I did fantasy football. I got bored in the offseason and saw a reddit post about "being a football player." I joined, and that's that.
Me: Do you consider Jimi a mentor of sorts?
Magent: Oh heck yeah! That guy is a total beast and helps me out whenever he can. Really good guy, too.
Me: Who inspired your player?
Magent: It's gotta be Anthony Munoz. As a Bengals fan he's amazing.
Me: If you were to bring a Cincinnati franchise into the ISFL what would it's branding be?
Magent: Cincinnati Monarchs. They're the Queen City after all.
Me: Alright what are you looking forward most about eventually coming up?
Magent: Joining Philly full time. I want to protect Negs.
Me: Great attitude! Now if you could have coffee with anyone in the league who would it be?
Magent: Jimi. He’s just super chill.
Interview with Lucid Dreams aka...well Lucid Dreams in Discord. I had to send all the questions at once to him due to time constraints
Me: Now we all know about your Fan World podcast. What got you started with that?
Lucid: I had originally started doing a podcast for the FCF or Fan Controlled Football. Which was me talking about the games and venting my frustrations with the way things were being set up. I’m a big podcast guy I listen to them for eight plus hours daily at work. So when I joined the DSFL and found out I could make money by doing podcasts there was really no question about it. Introducing the weekly league interviews to my podcast has been my favorite part and about doing them. Meeting the new people and hearing the different stories each user has to offer provides a deeper insight to the league and teams.
Me: How did you get started with FCF?
The FCF is a new Football League that started up last season. It mixes Fantasy Football, Video games, and real life sports. Basically you pick one of their teams and you are now a part of it. For the inaugural season we picked logos, colors, name, slogan, and basically every aspect. Each team received 2 franchise tags the team owner picked one player and the team members (users) picked the other. Every week you draft your team of real life players and they take the field and play a reinvented version of football. The league was ran through the FCF app and Twitch. I found out about it from following Marshawn Lynch on social media. He is Co-Owner of The Beasts, which is the team I belong to. That’s why my name in the DSFL server is Feedthebeast702.
Me: How does it feel to have been such an early pick considering it's your first player?
Originally when I had started getting scouted I didn’t even think first round would be a possibility. After looking at how early some new users went in the S28 draft I started believing there was a chance. To go fourth overall was amazing. I feel honored that Philadelphia felt confident enough in me to make that a reality. It shows that what I’ve done so far in the League has given people faith in my ability to succeed.
Me: How did you get started with football?
I grew up with my Grandparents and my Grandfather was a huge football fan. As far back as I can remember that’s what Sundays were all about. So naturally as I got older I wanted to play myself. I played my first season in Middle School and continued playing throughout High School. I’ve always loved the sport and have been drawn to just about every Football League that’s been started.
Me: Who is your player inspiration?
My player in the League is Rendered after Howie Long but for me personally it would be Charles Woodson. His Hall of Fame play on the field mixed with his dedication to the community off the field exemplifies what you want from celebrity role model. I met Charles Woodson when i was 7/8 years old his rookie season with the Raiders. It was my first time meeting any sort of Celebrity or Athlete. That meet and greet cemented me as a Raiders fan for life. 20 years later I never expected they would become the Las Vegas Raiders.
Me: How excited are you to be in Philadelphia?
I couldn’t be Happier to have been drafted by the Liberty. It was the team I was hoping would draft me. The locker room experience I had during the scouting process and the members I had met made Philadelphia my top location. I feel like it’s a place I can make real friendships with other members of the League. I’m looking forward to being called up next season and helping the Liberty win an Ultimus.
Me: Tsuyu can cook traditional Japanese food. What would your player want her to cook him if he had the opportunity?
I’m a huge Yaki Soba fan if I had to pick one Japanese dish it would be Chicken Yaki Soba. It’s definitely my favorite.
Alright that is the last of them! I hope this got you some insight on the many new faces in Philly. Thank you all for reading and I hope to see you all on the field!
