Tier 3, Task 16:
Some people might be a bit worried about taking someone that maxed out at 1414 TPE without an award or pro bowl with their previous player. Are they cursed? Are they stupid? I am aware of all the disgruntled comments and the thoughts about if picking an unlucky recreate is even worth a top ten pick, especially when that recreate is trying to change positions, again. However, as many have pointed out, having the largest bank account of any of the S30 players means that any team that signs me won’t have to worry about any big contracts or money hungry deals that other players might be after. Along with that, I’m also knowledgeable about the sim and what different archetypes play into certain builds. It is almost like having another GM in the locker room without having to worry about me repeating my Baltimore days at all. Not only that, but my current player has had some decent success and has enough TPE placed into speed, agility, and endurance to keep them viable in any position that I would swap to. The last thing people would need is for a speed cornerback to switch to defensive tackle and not be usable in the first season that you need them. Tier 3, Task 20: https://youtu.be/WWfcNKCqrKI Tier 3, Task 23: Tier 3, Task 27: Team brands are always hard to do with sim leagues but that does not mean that every team needs to feel too far away from an actual sports team. The team that I feel has a strong need for a rebrand would either be the Berlin Fire Salamanders or the New Orleans Second Line. One thing that sports teams need is a quick, catchy sort of name that sticks with you. More crazy names are better reserved for minor league baseball or colleges that hardly anyone goes to so the Fire Salamanders and Second Line are just too much name to really catch on which strangely works weirdly since nobody has made an official push against the Second Line name in a while. I would recommend something more fitting in Berlin such as the Blitz or possibly a Boar or another animal local to the country. New Orleans could use something like the New Orleans Jazz if they want to keep the music theme but could go for something original with the Magnolias or join the bird logos with the Pelicans. On the other hand, the best branding in the ISFL has to go to the Philadelphia Liberty. There aren’t any other teams in the league that fit the real life area more so than the Liberty, and the bell logo both makes me think of Philadelphia and Taco Bell which is never a bad reminder to have. Think I might go grab some tacos soon.
10. Write a short biography or story about your player. This could include background about how they came to the ISFL and how they’ve done so far, a story about their role in an exciting game, or anything else related to their experience in the league.
In last season’s Ultimus task, I introduced Mario Messi’s journey in college, particularly how he started his lifestyle as a monk and then degenerated into a dissolute and tumultuous lifestyle that disheartened everyone. Now I will continue to tell Mario Messi’s story in college: the pain he experienced and the efforts he took to bounce back to a star player. After Mario Messi started his dissolute lifestyle (e.g. strain his collarbone by having sex with whores), Mario Messi’s stats became staggeringly irregular. Since Mario Messi was still a star WR for the University of Miami, both the team’s records and Mario’s stats were faltering. The coaching team gave Mario a warning about his starter position since pressure mounted as other players were not satisfied with Mario’s bearings. New players spoke contemptuously about Mario’s play since many of them believed that Mario was bound to lose the position soon. The potential competitors even poisoned Mario Messi in his drinks before some important games. After Mario Messi trampled on nearly every rule of the football team, the coaches decided to kick him out of the starter roster. After knowing this news, Mario Messi got a really bad temper, throwing tantrums at the coach and teammates, and shattered wooden chairs into matchwood. At night when Mario was alone, he huddled in the corner, whimpered in pain to mourn his loss of the coveted starter position. When he woke up, he cried shrilly and wailed hoarsely. Mario pleaded for the alter of the decision of kicking him out, but it was a unanimous decision by the coaching team, and nobody could change it. The coaching team was determined to remove the toxic elements out of the team for solidarity and morale. After being kicked out, Mario went to the training field to face the full coaching team. He glared at the coaches with menacing indignation. At that moment, Mario knew that he had to sell his speedboat, fire his personal whores, and start to train himself again. The best way to respect his talent is to train really hard to stimulate it. After wasting his talents and money for one year (sophomore year), Mario Messi decided to become a monk again, as he did in his freshman year. He started to control his nutrition, eating in a way only to serve his training goals. He started to juggle between his academic achievement and his sports training again. After wasting one year, he knew that he had no more time to waste. As to what happened to Mario Messi later, I will have to save his story for the next time, due to the word limit in this task. (Words: 444) 14. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season? What a journey for Sailfish and Mario Messi in this season. Sailfish did an amazing job. Fish ranked as the third in the NSFC, and reached the conference final, although we were only marginally beaten by Berlin Fire by 3 points in the game. Messi continued to grow in this season. He grew his skills as a possession TE and contributed to the team as much as he could. Sailfish started really strong in this season. We got a 6-1 record in the first seven games, and in many games, our winning advantage was huge. Two games were really tight: really not unexpected though, that we lost to Yeti (L 26-23) in our very first game, and won the game against Berlin Fire (W39–35). Yeti and Berlin are very strong in this season, as they ranked as the first and the second in our conference. After half of the season, Fish experienced more losses. In the last nine games, our record was 5-4. We lost the games to Otters, Silverbacks, Salamanders, and Yeti, all of which are really strong. Fish also won the game against Yeti once, in the second last game of this season. I would say that the wins and losses of Sailfish truthfully reflect the capacity of Sailfish and our opponents. Sim randomness did not create any unexpected disruption in these games. In terms of PF and PA, Sailfish did a great job. In fact, Sailfish had the highest winning points in the two conferences (487 points!), on average, 30 points and around 3 TDs per game. I really think this significant achievement can be attributed to the efforts of the whole offensive team – the amazing QB Mike Boss Jr, RB Ichinose and Bianchi, WR J’Vathon and Spence, TEs, and the whole offensive line. At the beginning of this season, Sailfish’s offensive line was not very strong. But thanks to our great GM, we strengthened our offensive line with the best S28 players. The great offensive line created the critical time for the QB to make wise passing decisions. It was unfortunate that Sailfish only ranked third in the conference. We lost two very close games to Berlin and Silverback. In both cases, we got a tie and went to overtime. We were unlucky to lose the two games in both games by the opponents’ TD. I should not complain much since Berlin and Silverback are both great teams – Berlin Fire was the conference champion and Silverback was the final champion. In fact, we lost to Berlin again in the conference final, and again, it was a really close game. We led by about 10 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter, and we lost because of two interceptions. Overall, Sailfish did a fantastic job this season. I hope the team can get even better in the next season. (Words: 474)
12. The Berlin Fire Salamanders were the favorites to walk away with the Ultimus in season 29, and for a good reason too. The recent expansion team had done a fantastic job of building up a team from the group up, and topped it all off in the offseason with some smart acquisitions to really push them over the top. On the offensive side of things, they had one of the most lethal passing attacks in the league. Headlined by star quarterback Nick Kaepercolin, the passing attack of the Berlin Fire Salamanders put up a staggering 4764 yards, spread out between three very talented receivers in Achtfunf, Hood, and Skiuuup, along with the ever reliable tight end Clark Boyd. Running back Danny King Jr. led the Fire Salamanders out of the backfield, putting up 1200 yards of rushing and thirteen touchdowns for an impressive campaign. The defense, while lacking a true superstar in my opinion, was a very well rounded unit with no real weaknesses to speak of. The talented secondary is the strong suit of this squad, led by talented corner Jeeeeroy Lenkins, and bolstered in the offseason by the acquisition of former Butcher Tyron Shields, the Fire Salamanders secondary could be described as a no fly zone, forcing opposing passing attacks to try and find their gains on short passes while taking away the deep ball. The front seven were a force to be reckoned with, that group was led by veteran linebacker Derred de Ville, who terrorived opposing backfields with 19 sacks. The Berlin Fire Salamanders pick up their signature win of the season in week seven at home versus the Arizona Outlaws. They were 4-2 coming into that game, and were up against one of the top teams in the league, and the Berlin Fire Salamanders were looking to make a statement. Things started off very well for the Berlin Fire Salamanders, who got two touchdowns in the air midway through the first half, and added a field goal late, but gave up a touchdown on the ground. They still walked into halftime with a solid 17-7 lead, but they had a long second half ahead of them. Another field goal gave them a 13 point lead, but the Outlaws would strike twice in the coming minutes to take a 21-20 lead. Kicker Danny King came in clutch with a 51 yard bomb to put the Fire Salamanders back in front, and the defense would hold strong for the last eight minutes to preserve the win. It was that week that everyone around the league learned that the Fire Salamanders were for real.
27. There are a few brandings in the league that I am a big fan of. The Sarasota Sailfish is a favorite of mine, I just love the big fish logo. Something about it is just really funny to me and I laugh a bit every time I see that big fish with its mouth wide open. In addition to that, the colors are great, and the team branding makes a lot of sense given the location of the team, with the Gulf of Mexico that Sarasota sits on being a great place to catch Sailfish. Another favorite of mine is the New York Silverbacks. The Gorilla based team is a nice shout out to the King Kong comics/movies, where the giant gorilla spends a lot of time rampaging around New York City. The logo is very nice and the colors are satisfying, although maybe a bit too close to the real life New York Jets, but it’s not a huge deal in my opinion. Lastly, I need to shout out my DSFL team the Portland Pythons. They recently did a slight overhaul of the team branding, and knocked it out of the park with the updates. The old logo was fine, but this new logo looks incredible. 29. SHL Pt Affiliate Quote:6. Write 800 words or more on something about anything in the league that interests you. It could be related to statistics, a league issue that you take seriously, or a niche part of history that doesn’t fit neatly into either of the above categories. This must be directly related to the league, so don’t wax 800 words about your team’s participation on a Werewolf server or something. For this point task, I am going to talk about my career so far, or the career of Jackson Kingston. It's been a wild ride so far, as I have played for three different teams and I will be making my debut for my fourth when this regular season starts. ARRIVAL IN NEW YORK When Jackson Kingston arrived in New York, he had been selected in expansion and was set to create a formidable duo with rookie quarterback Sam Howitzer. In his first season in the Big Apple, Kingston shined with Howitzer, having by far the best season of his career to date in many metrics, including receptions, receiving yards, touchdowns, and more. While the Silverbacks struggled as a team throughout, going winless in the first half of the season, eventually they turned it around and won 4 games before the season's end. With the conclusion of the season, Jackson Kingston was named Breakout Player of the Year for the strides he made from the Colorado Yeti offense to the expanded role in New York. In addition, his 15 touchdowns were tied for the league's best as he earned his first career Pro Bowl nod. With the team finishing strong and emerging weapons on offense like Kingston, the Silverbacks had much to look forward to going into S26. The following season saw a much stronger team performance from the Silverbacks, jumping from a 4-12 record from the season before to a 9-7 record. Kingston set another personal record for receiving yards that season, eclipsing his 1311 mark from the past season by 36 yards, for 1347 yards on the season. Propelled by another strong second half performance, where the Silverbacks finished the year winning 6 of their last 8 games, the New York Silverbacks were able to clinch the top seed in the ASFC. However, due to a technicality in the tiebreakers, despite being the top seed in the ASFC and receiving a first round bye, the Silverbacks were to travel to New Orleans where they would suffer a narrow defeat at the hands of the Second Line, losing 37-43 in overtime. While the Silverbacks' playoff run ended prematurely and was a disappointment to cap off what was overall an excellent season, the Silverbacks held their heads high moving into their third season in existence. The squad finished two games better than their expansion rival counterparts, the Berlin Fire Salamanders, who finished the season 7-9 and a game out from securing a playoff birth. The S27 season saw Kingston set yet another career high in single season receiving yards, as he had done so for the previous five seasons. This campaign, Kingston recorded a total of 1518 receiving yards and 114 receptions. The increase in volume was partly due to Silverbacks' former Offensive Player of the Year recipient Ashley Owens' diminished productivity, as the aging running back was no longer capable of leading the Silverbacks' offense, prompting the free agency acquisition of Captain Rogers. Although Kingston's receiving productivity was arguably at an all-time high, it was another facet of his game that earned him award recognition: his returning prowess. Jackson Kingston got off to a red-hot start to the season in the returning department, securing two punt returning touchdowns in the first three games of the season. Kingston had previously been relegated only to kick returning duties, but the regression of Ashley Owens opened an opportunity for Kingston, which he seized in stride. The Silverbacks started the season off strong, jumping out to a 7-4 record with five games to go. However, a rough spell saw them drop those last five games, knocking the squad out of playoff contention for good. At the conclusion of the regular season, Kingston secured his third consecutive pro bowl selection. Additionally, he was named the S27 Returner of the Year for his excellence in the returning game. The Silverbacks sought to regain their playoff status entering the S28 season. The team started off the season with ups and downs, winning their opener against the Orange County Otters, and from that point on, they alternated wins and losses for the next six weeks. However, the Silverbacks seemingly hit their stride in a week 8 home matchup against the Colorado Yeti, which they won 23-19. From there, the Silverbacks reeled off four more consecutive wins, leaving the squad in prime playoff position with a 9-3 record. At this point during the season, the New York Silverbacks made the trade acquisition of Tugg Speedman from the rival San Jose Sabercats, paying a premium price for the young wide receiver. In the short term, the move did little to move the needle for the squad, dropping three of their last four. The move was clearly oriented more towards the future, where Speedman would eventually serve as the replacement for an aging Kingston as the primary wide receiver in the offense. Finishing the season with a 10-6 record, the Silverbacks entered the playoffs with high hopes. However, those high hopes were vanquished by the Austin Copperheads in a close 21-18 loss that saw the Silverbacks concede 21 unanswered points, with no points in over two quarters for the offense. Kingston's individual performance was a disappointment, as for the first time in his career, he did not set a personal best for single season receiving yards. Additionally, Kingston failed to earn a Pro Bowl selection for the first time since S24, ending his three season streak.

2.5 TPE 21. The new sim probably killed my interest in this league. My interest isn't necessarily something that is sorely missed, of course. Afterall, I am a DSFL lifer (or at least I was until berlin convinced me to continue earning). However, being an OL the only thing we had to look forward to was our sacks allowed to stay 0 and panackes to increase in that 'other column'. With the new sim, there is no point in watching the stream unless it's to root for your team; which is something you can do whether or not your player is actually playing so I'm gonna count that as a moot point. The new sim made things worse for offensive linemen from an engagement in stream aspect; which as a PBE transplant that's really what matters for me. A sim league should have a workable sim, and for OL it's anything but. On the flip side (get it, flip side? I'm so funny), pancake numbers are up in a big way in the new sim. For us big bois who like to lay down some flapjacks, this is a good thing. I was dissapointed that I didn't get to enjoy my new capped build, had perfect distribution in everything and the sim changed the second i reached cap but, oh well. It happens.
