Week 1 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs CHI
The opening game of the S29 season was everything but boring for the Liberty. Philadelphia allowed a Tree Gelbman touchdown first, but rookie running back Lonnie Jackson (more on him soon) came back with a 1 yard touchdown of his own and tied it up. Second quarter comes and its highlighted by Jake ‘The Leg’ Fencik kicking two field goals; including a 55 yarder to put us within 1 point. Third quarter, Fencik puts us up by 2 on the Butchers and that’s all the 3rd quarter brought as the Liberty defense held down the fort. Then the fourth quarter came and everything broke loose with Lonnie Jackson breaking off a few long runs before ending the drive in a 1 yard touchdown to put us up 23-14. Continued big plays by Chambers, Lonnie, and Asui made the choice for a game ball award hard, plus the additions of Fencik including the game winner. Overall, we go with Lonnie Jackson as the Week 1 Offensive Game Ball winner. A rookie coming out in their first game and putting up 2 touchdowns and over 100 yards is impressive, especially coming off of a hell of a season in Tijuana. Congratulations to Lonnie and we look forward to the 1-2 punch of him and Anders as the season continues!
Week 2 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs SJS
In a close game a single play can make the biggest difference and that was the case in this one for us. That being said, there were some glaring bright spots in the game that we can take away and be proud of. Totalling 7, yes 7, total sacks throughout the game we really made our team culture known: we’re relentless. On the back end of this daunting defense, our secondary also held up very well throughout the game and thats where our week 2 game ball winner comes in: Doy Fieri. Finishing the game with 5 tackles and 5 passes defended, we strongly believe was a key factor in keeping this game close. Congratulations Doy and we look forward to more great plays out of you in the future!
Week 3 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs YKW
We definitely struggled a bit in this but we still had some star standouts on the defensive side. Goodman, Walls, and Haywood had great games in terms of sticking to their jobs and making stops when needed, however, one player truly stood out with a big play that had the possibility to change the momentum of the game. Tex Wrecks came up with a big forced fumble that he recovered in this one along with 6 tackles (2 of which were for a loss). Congratulations to Wrecks and we move on to Week 4 in hopes of a better result!
Week 4 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs BAL
In a close win, we pulled it out against the Hawks. A team that’s really coming into the fruition of their rebuild, the Hawks gave us a run for our money. Our defense continued to be consistent though and we held them down. A big part of that effort came from our secondary, in which Fieri had a trio of pass deflections and our linebacking crew in which Walls had 6 tackles including one for a loss and DeSoto also gathered up a sack. Our Defensive Game Ball winner is Gary Goodman, however, as he put up 4 tackles, 1 for a loss, and a key sack. Congratulations to Mr. Goodman!
Week 5 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs BER
Almost pulling off a win in this one, we gave one of the favored teams for the Ultimus this year a run for their money! For the first 3 quarters the defense really keyed in on Kaepercolin, causing 2 interceptions on the day. One of those interceptions came from rookie linebacker Xavier Walls and CJ Sonjack also pulled off a 6 pass defensed day. Matt Cross caused a fumble as well, but our Defensive Game Ball goes to the other interception artist of the day. Jimi DeSoto snagged a pass over the middle and took it back 14 yards for a pick six. Congratulations to our fearless captain and we can only imagine more will come in the future!
Week 6 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs COL
In a rough one for us, we still managed to put up reasonable individual performances on the defensive side. Every season has games like this and we will bounce back but Walls, Doy, Roman, and Goodman all put up solid tackle totals and showed in flashes how effective this defense can be at stopping plays. Goodman also contributed with a sack while Doy managed 2 passes defensed. Our defensive game ball goes to our safety Matt Cross, however, as he put up 7 tackles, a forced fumble, and a pass defensed. Hoping we can bounce back and finish the season strong after this one. Congrats Cross!
Week 7 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs SAR
Against a top opponent the Philly defense really hung on throughout this one making it a competitive game. Across the boards there were great plays defensively and everyone was getting in on the action. Six players had over five tackles and Goodman had an interception, but the game ball essentially goes to the top tackler in this one in Xavier Walls. One thing Walls has been doing well all season has been tackling the ball carrier and this game was no different. Congrats and on to the next one!
Week 8 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs ARI
Another top opponent up against our improving defense and our hard work showed! We held them to only field goals throughout the first 3 quarters before letting up a big play. Again Walls led the team in tackles, but the biggest factor was our team total of 6 sacks on the night by 5 different people. Rose, Hoffman, Roman, and Walls all had sacks, but our sack leader is our game ball recipient of the game and thats Gary Goodman! With six tackles and two sacks, Goodman was our leader throughout the game and is deserving of this game ball. Congrats and on to the next one!
Week 9 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs OCO
What a great performance all around by our defensive unit! We came in and handled the Otter’s offense allowing our offense to shine in this one. Two players had 10 tackles and three different players contributed with a sack, but our game ball recipient is once again Gary Goodman as his strip sack in the endzone was a pivotal play leading to our victory over the Otters. Congrats again to Goodman and I don’t think this will be the last we see of his name in the highlights!
Week 10 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs BAL
Boom, blam, bang! We did a thang! Holy hell guys, what a game in this one. Our defense held the Hawks down throughout this entire game and allowing only 7 points. The pass defense of Doy, Sonjack, and Walls showcased itself tonight with 8 pass defenses between them, while we also got two sacks with one coming from Roman. Our other came from our defensive leader through ten weeks, Gary Goodman, who is also our game ball recipient for the 3rd game in a row. Finishing with 10 tackles, a tfl, a sack, and a pass defensed, Goodman is more than deserving of the repeat honor! Congrats and on to the next one!
Week 7 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs SAR
In a tough loss to a very good opponent, our offense took care of the ball enough to make it close but could not pull off the last big play to win it. That being said, we had some very good performances on the night and that starts with Ryan Negs going 15/26 for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. It’s hard to complain with a night like that along with a touchdown from both Tsuyu Asui and Lonnie Jackson, but our game ball goes to another key performer who set those folks up repeatedly for scoring opportunities. Anders Christiansen, our offensive game ball winner, had 10 carries for a WHOPPING 116 yards for an 11.6 average. Congrats Anders and we look forward to more success in the running game!
Week 8 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs ARI
This was another tough fought game with a playoff team that we very well could have come away with. Our offense had a hard time moving the ball consistently on the ground which opened up the air a bit for Ryan Negs and the receivers. Ultimately, we didn’t score much in this one but Ryan Negs gets our game ball in this one as he went a respectable 27/38 for 232 yards and a touchdown. Congrats Negs and we hope to see you excel as the season continues!
Week 9 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs OCO
We unleashed the hounds of war in this game! Orange County didn’t even know what hit them. We played a very balanced game offensively and many people had solid stat lines all around including Negs for over 260 yards passing and a touchdown plus Chambers going for almost 100 yards receiving and Asui having over 80 yards receiving as well. Our game ball goes to someone a bit more strategic though and that's Jake Fencik! Kicking 4 extra points, a 44 yard field goal and a 52 yarder, plus having 2 punts inside the 20 yard line. You can’t ask for much more from a kicker and he really came through helping the defense pin the Otters back. Congrats on the game ball and keep that leg warm baby!
Week 10 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs BAL
In a game that was incredibly high scoring….for us, it was very difficult to pick one single game ball recipient for this game, so….I chose 3. Ryan Negs, Anders Christiansen, and Killian Chambers all blew up this game and really formed a triad of danger and scoring for us. Negs went 14/15 for 165 and 3 touchdowns, Chambers went for 96 yards on 4 catches and got 2 touchdowns, and Anders had 108 yards and 2 touchdowns on 23 rushes. You can’t ask for a more balanced offensive attack than that and it goes to show how we are growing as a team. Great job ya’ll and can’t wait to see the last bit of the season unfold.
Week 11 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs COL
Another game in which we were a score away from coming away with the win here against a very good team. Our offense struggled to put the ball in the endzone in this one, but we still put up quite a bit of yardage despite that. Tsuyu Asui put up 60 yards receiving and Ryans Negs passed for over 200 yards. However, our game ball winner is Anders Christiansen as he ran the ball 13 times for 80 yards and a touchdown, averaging over 6 yards per carry. Congrats to our running boy and we can only hope he continues to pave the way for us!
Week 11 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs COL
Our defense really played a bend but don’t break type of game in this one as we let up plenty of yards, but didn’t allow many touchdowns to one of the top offenses in the league. Hoffman finished with 8 tackles and a sack along with Goodman gathering up another sack. Our defensive game ball goes to Doy Fieri though as he finished with 5 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception. Congratulations Doy and we can’t wait for the final games to see how much more we can improve!
Week 12 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs CHI
This was a tough game for us against an opponent we have had success against in the past. Our offense struggled throughout and there wasn’t much to say offensively. Our offensive leader for the game was Tsuyu Asui with 69 yards with a long of 19 yards against a staunch defense that really didn’t let up much otherwise. Congratulations to Tsuyu, our receiver of the future, and we look forward to many more in the coming games and seasons!
Week 12 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs CHI
Our defense held strong in three of the four quarters allowing only a field goal in those, but did let up 2 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. Matt Cross had an interception and Honky-tonk Haywood had a tfl and a forced fumble, but overall our game ball this week goes to Xavier Walls with a total of 10 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss on the day. Walls has been all over the field all year long and it was no different in this game.
Week 13 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs NYS
This was an absolutely incredible game for the Philly faithful as the Liberty pulled of a heart attack inducing comeback in this game. Flash Panda and Ryan Negs connected on an 88 yard touchdown late in the 4th which was then followed up by a Fencik onside kick that was recovered. However, the game ball in this one goes to the game winning combo of our intrepid tight end, Borgo San Lorenzo and Ryan Negs connecting on a 52 yard touchdown reception to bring home the win in the final moments. Congrats to San Lorenzo and a huge shout out to our offense in this game!
Week 13 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs NYS
Our defense let up more than we wanted in this one, but we were also up against a tough offensive team in the Silverbacks. Our defensive line really showed up in this game and Honky-tonk Haywood had a tackle for a loss and had a sack, while Doy Fieri led the team in tackles with 7. The defensive game ball winner for this game is our defensive end, Tex Wrecks who finished with 2 tackles, 1 for a loss, and one forced fumble. Congrats to Tex and look forward to more here as the season ends!
Week 14 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs SAR
Another hell of a game this week as the Liberty ran it back on the Sailfish. An incredibly close game formed at the end of this one again as the Cardiac Bells threw some electricity onto the field. A touchdown for the second straight week by San Lorenzo and a solid performance by the running back duo of Lonnie Jackson and Anders Christiansen that kept this one just close enough for the Flash Panda to return another incredible kick for a touchdown to tie this game up for the game’s end and for that Flash Panda is our offensive game ball winner this week. We can’t get enough of the Panda’s flashy plays that seem to always keep us in games. There’s not enough we can say about what he’s given to the team and the chances he’s provided in his seasons here. Congrats Flash Panda and we all love your presence here in Philly.
Week 14 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs SAR
On top of Panda’s crazy play to end the game, the defense also stepped up and helped to bring the game to a tie in the form of Matt Cross and a pick six. However, the rock to the team’s defense throughout this one came among the defensive line once again. Gary Goodman was all over the field and finished with 11 tackles and a tackle for a loss, while Walls and Wrecks both contributed 6 tackles and Walls had a fumble recovery. Our game ball goes to Honky-Tonk Haywood as he finished with an incredible stat line for a defensive lineman at 9 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble. Congratulations to Haywood, not only for this game ball, but the season he has put up as a whole. We look forward to the continued success and we’re on to the next one!
Week 15 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs BER
In a game away at one of the best team’s in the league house, we came in and gave them a run for their money. The receiving corp really did well as Killian Chambers picked up 2 touchdowns on 59 yards and 7 catches, while Tsuyu Asui put up big numbers going for 116 yards on 6 catches with a long of 54 yards. Our running game was slowed in this one, but our offensive leader and this week’s game ball recipient, Ryan Negs, had one of the best games of his season going 21/34 for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions. We look for a big game to finish off the season from our offense and congratulations to Ryan Negs!
Week 15 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs. BER
Our defense held strong against a very powerful offense in the Firesalamanders. Per usual, Jimi DeSoto and Walls bolstered their tackle numbers with Walls adding a sack and Gary Goodman again led the charge getting 9 tackles with a sack and a pass deflection, but our game ball this week goes out to a player who has been flying under the radar with flashy stats this season and that’s CJ Sonjack. Sonjack’s coverage dominance is something that is bound to get over looked this season as he has not gotten an interception but his pass defense has been insane. In this game alone he had 4 pass deflections and he was a huge part of why the Berlin passing game was held to lower numbers than usual. Congrats to our unsung secondary and CJ Sonjack who will no doubt continue to put receivers on an island.
Week 16 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs. YKW
In a game in which we just couldn’t push it into the endzone but put up decent yardage we relied heavily on our special teams. This game is an easy pick for offensive game ball as Jake Fencik kicked a total of SIX field goals with one of them being from outside of 50 yards! Fencik very well could have kicked the game winner as well, but there was a time clock management issue towards the end of the game. Congratulations to Jake Fencik and we had a great season that will only be better next year!
Week 16 Defensive Game Ball - PHI vs. YKW
Our defense once again held strong against one of the better offenses in the league. With so many people contributing at a high level in this game it was very difficult to pick a game ball winner, but in the end I went with Doy Fieri who finished with an impressive 9 tackles. Doy was all over the field and he definitely made his presence felt. Walls put up 5 tackles and a sack, while Goodman also contributed 6 tackles and a pass deflection, along with Matt Cross with 4 tackles and 2 pass deflections. Congratulations on an impressive year and there’s only one way to go….UP!
Week 1 Offensive Game Ball - PHI vs CHI
