Paso del Norte, USA & Mexico
Season 30 Ultimus Host City Bid
Paso del Norte is a transborder region between Mexico and the United States. The region is centered on two cities - Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico and El Paso, Texas. This area will provide a bicultural experience while also bringing the Ultimus back to the states.
The ULTIMATE FAN EXPERIENCE -ence -ence team and the region of Paso del Norte have partnered to submit a bid for the season 30 Ultimus. In addition to what the area currently has to offer, both El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico plan to generate additional experiences and sponsorships to elevate this bi-national championship event. The region of Paso del Norte and The Ultimate Fan Experience team hope to provide a world class Ultimus experience to the level that the ISFL has provided over the last 30 seasons.
Population: 2.7 Million
Introduction:
Icebear: Alright Fronk, we are back at it. I’m really starting to dig this red carpet treatment we are getting on some of these trips.
Fronk: Ultimus Bid Round 2 bb. Let’s hope that this time the voters get farther than the logos (video) and read what an amazing experience this unique place has to offer for the International Simulation Football League. I do think our logos are gas though.
Icebear: A lot of time and effort goes into these things soI do hope we get that full chance. No, I hope Paso del Norte gets the chance they deserve. Two nations coming together for such a great event. This will be hard to top!
Fronk: And Ultimus XXX is such a special moment in ISFL History. It deserves an iconic binational experience like the one Paso del Norte can provide.
Hotels / Commute:
Icebear: Now talk about a red carpet experience and I’m not saying just for us. New buildings are going up left and right to make this the most welcoming Ultimus the ISFL has ever put on. Also the El Paso airport will be providing easy access to the area's many sites. The commute from the airport was a fun one. The El Paso Brewery Tours bus provided our shuttle for the evening as they are also set to be the shuttle service for the Ultimus. The driver was amazing and provided us both with custom Kong bong koozies with Ultimate Fan Experience and our names included in the design. Dug, the driver, was a small 5’5” man who could barely see over the steering wheel. Little did we know the beer bong koozie would just be the first of many drinking related gifts we would receive that weekend.
The hotel design was flawless. The bi-national bid continues to grow stronger with each new pitch we received. We were able to tour both the US rooms and the Mexican rooms. Both amazing in their own ways. Comfort that makes you feel at home and while also having the option to feel like an international traveler right in your own country (well as long as you don’t walk too far down the hall). We were gifted with separate rooms that allowed up to experience each side between the team. With Fronk being a frequent flyer to Mexico and their lovely beaches, he jumped on the opportunity to take the Mexican Suite while I managed to secure the American Suite. Both were amazing and I expect only the GMs or Team owners may be in budget for these rooms. So we did make sure the “common folk” rooms were up to par and to our surprise these other rooms were just as nice as the rooms Fronk and I stayed in.
This is a hotel that’ll have many rooms full come gameday. These rooms will be an ultimate tailgate experience with it attached to the stadium.
Fronk: We got placed into the newly built Ultimus Hotel that is attached to the west side of the stadium and follows the same border/theme/architectural division that the stadium has. This luxury hotel has the stadium entrance and lobby on the bottom floor of the stadium. There are plenty of areas for groups, teams, and guests to socialize and sit while staying out of the hot southern air. In order to get to the second floor during events or game days, the hotel requires guests to have game tickets. The second floor of the hotel is where all the fun begins. A giant bar stretches the length of the hotel floor and just like everything else is split along the border of USA/Mexico. The north side of the bar has a western cowboy theme and a huge mural of the United States of America. The southern end of the bar has its own mural of Mexico and has a completely different menu for eating and drinking than its counterpart. The vaulted ceilings of this floor actually make it a couple stories high and allow some lofted areas along the glass windows that border the field for some air-conditioned viewing experiences.
Rooms for the hotel actually start at the third floor because every room has an unblocked view of the field. These are not the greatest seats in the house, obviously, but are the main reason why having a ticket to the game is required during stays on game nights. Rooms differ based on if your room is located in Texas or Mexico, but the luxury is international. Also when you stay at a hotel that is attached to the stadium, your commute can not be more difficult than a smooth ride down the elevator.
Nightlife / City / Attractions:
Icebear: After a couple weeks off of traveling and preparing for this trip, I was ready to go out on the town. The only hold up was not embarrassing myself as the committee had offered to take us out that first evening. So a little more relaxed first night than what we were expecting but we were taken to one of El Paso’s most well known Tex-Mex joints. This meal was top 5 all time in Icebear’s long list of overeating, but loving it. Most import 5 star rating of this restaurant was the bathroom and this became very important later. After a shockingly easy wakeup the next day (not hungover), we were taken to the main plaza where they have created so many unique ideas planned for the week leading up to the big game.
The theme of nations coming together continues to shine as different events and activities will be scheduled throughout the week that allows the nations to continue to unite. But what would this week be without some extra competition? Border Wars will be in full swing, but to keep things friendly teams will be randomly divided at the events. Teams will be “North” and “South” but competitors will be placed on teams randomly vs their nationality. Border Wars with a sense of unity. Who can ask for anything better? My favorite game listed is a hopeful genesis world record game of tug of war. Teams of tug of war will be led by our two competing teams players.
A week of build up for the two teams will create such anticipation, that we can expect a top tier Ultimus performance. Maybe this year both teams will actually show up! I’m looking at you Berlin :eyes:
Fronk: Some people may think that nobody can party like they do down in Mexico. Others maybe thinking that when it comes to celebrations, everything is bigger in Texas. Well this is a perfect place to blend these two thoughts together to create the perfect setting for a full Ultimus Week celebration. The Ultimus Committee laid out their renderings and models of what they are envisioning for the Ultimus Village and IceBear and I were getting excited. All around the stadium there are places to eat and drink. Three different stages have all day activities, performances, and live music 24 hours a day. Local vendors and companies will be opening pop-up restaurants and bars that will have food available any time of the day. Giant sculptures and other artwork will be commissioned to celebrate the city, the ISFL, and most importantly the Ultimus XXX thirty competitors. Safety will be a point of emphasis for the city and all fans and guests will have the best security. Everybody will be able to relax and enjoy themselves throughout their visit to Paso del Norte.
Stadium:
The region of Paso del Notre has confirmed funds to create the first bi-national stadium. Funding from both the city of El-Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez has allowed for the creation of this stadium. The focus of this stadium will be a push to bring together 2 unique cultures while bonding over the love of sports.
The stadium has been designed to show true unity between the two bordering countries. Most unique of these features will be the design of the field to be perfectly placed so that the 50 yard line sits right at the US-Mexico border.
In addition to the ISFL hosting the season 30 Ultimus, the ISFL would have a lifetime sponsorship for the stadium that plans to host many other national events. In addition to the Ultimus, Paso del Norte is scheduled to host the below future events.
2046 NBA All Star Game
2047 World Cup
2046 Olympic qualifiers for both US & Mexico
2046 National Dog show
2046 National roast of Bex
Fronk: This stadium is so unique and is the crown jewel of why Icebear and I agreed that UFE needs to partner with Paso del Norte and get the Ultimus to the border! I told IceBear that when Ultimus XXX happens, we have to get tickets near the 50 yard line in order to get both experiences that this stadium has to offer. When empty, the seats of the stadium form a two mosaics of each countries’ flag. Even though it is only one stadium, you get the best of two stadiums. We went around the concourse and got to taste all the food and drink all the beers. From the north side, my favorite stop was at the Spoetzl Brewery and Bar where they had the best texas barbeque meats and Shiner brews. And of course I could not stop eating the “samples” from the southern side of the stadium. Authentic mexican food can not be beat and all the eats go down so nicely with tequila and rum.
The stadium offers something for all fans and would be a perfect Ultimus XXX host for the International Simulation Football League.
Icebear: Where else can a player say that they have ran from the US to Mexico? The only people that may have that on their accomplishments were running from border patrol, not the ISFL’s finest LBs. We plan on our players ending up in the endzone, not behind bars. The stadium is the epitome of the culture it was built upon. The beauty of the national parks peak out over the top rows of the stadium. People gather upon the top concourse to see the view of the mountains as the games begin. Between the stadium and the attached hotel, this will quickly become an international “must see” location.
Now here is where Dug comes back into play. As we toured the stadium we made it to Spoetzl Brewery where Dug was sitting at the bar waiting for us. Dug provided us with bus shaped coolers. Yes, that same bus that was shuttling us around the day before. He said he had forgotten to give them to us and has been hanging out at the brewery ever since. “I knew Icebear would find this place”. This was the happiest moment of my life. If this bid is accepted, I promise to make every effort to have Dugs bus tours to be highlighted and help him expand his business. In this effort I hope to create enough buzz between now and then to make sure all ticket holders receive this same bus shaped cooler. Now if we only had @RussDrivesTheBus, but we know SJS aren’t going to be there anytime soon. Maybe we can hook him up with some contracted work with Dug that weekend.
Back to the stadium… this is a top tier stadium that deserves the highest level of competition that the ISFL brings.
Attractions: Attractions for Pas del Norte Area:
Ciudad Juárez
Dinner on the Dunes - Both teams will be treated to a once in a lifetime experience with a dinner on the Samalayuca dunes. Special guest speaker and Juarez native, Eddie Guerrero, will speak on his legendary career in the WWE.
El Paso Buzzards - Teams will be invited to watch the Buzzards on the ice as they take on Erie Otters in this Central Hockey League matchup.
Western Playland Amusement Park - The park has reserved a half day for all ISFL players and team members to enjoy the park exclusively. Unfortunately not all rides will not be able to accommodate all players based on their size. Because of this we encourage all OL / DL to enjoy the free buffet at the park that morning.
ISFL Partnerships:
Both El Paso and Ciudad Juarez have shown an interest and willingness to manage and host a bi national food festival during the week of the Ultimus bowl. The main event of this food festival will be the highlight of the week (outside of the Ultimus of course). The Texas meats vs the Mexican Tacos. This is a challenge I can fully get behind. The committee expect food truck vendors across both countries to travel for the “Best of the Border” award. The additional foot traffic received from the food festival will allow the ISFL to continue to grow their audience while building up the buzz for the Ultimus.
The Logo: The submitted logo for the Paso del Notre Ultimus Bowl is a tribute to the Monument to Mexicanidad. A famous sculpture located in Ciudad Juarez. It can also be referred to as La X or La X de Sebastian. This sculpture is located in the northernmost part of the city, right on the border with El Paso, Texas. This monument is located right next to the Rio Grande River that acts as the border between the US and Mexico. La X can be seen from American Soil!
Ultimini Bid:
Now lets not forget the farm system that creates these outstanding ISFL players, and that is the DSFL and the Ultimini. Something that can almost be more difficult to achieve due to the short time in the league vs an ISFL career. So in addition to the Paso del Notre bid, the Ultimiate Fan Experience would like to submit a proposal for the DSFL Ultimini Bowl.
The Ultimate Fan Experience team was very focused and dedicated after the season 29 loss to the dude up north, but we did make sure to properly investigate the proposed host site to the fullest of our availability. Problem is we don’t remember a damn thing and about an hour after getting there we completely forgot the reason we were there.
Las Vegas, Nevada! One of IceBear’s favorite places on earth. The one place where he can be a shitshow of himself and not stick out like Big Edd in any chat he’s in.
Stadium: Newly built Allegiant Stadium - home of the Raiders (a much less superior team to even the Bondi Beach Buccaneers).
Logo: XXX - what better a year to celebrate in the city that never sleeps then XXX!
I wish we had more to say about Vegas other than we had an incredible time and hope that all the ultimini players and coaches would enjoy it as much as we did. Win or lose, you should still booze!
Thank you for the opportunity to present Paso del Notre and the possibility for the first ever bi-national Ultimus host.
This bid was submitted by the Ultimate Fan Experience Team @Fronk and @Icebear.
