The Honolulu Hahalua are more than a quarter of the way through there season now. This media article will focus on Sal Ami’s transition from the Developmental Simulation Football League to the International Simulation Football League. I started an article about some of my thoughts on Sal’s role before the season started, however was unable to finish it due to work commitments. Stat wise it is accurate to like week 5. I will include some of those thoughts below and have them italicized to show they are not current.
Role on Offense
Going into his rookie year, I believe that Sal Ami will be on the field more than in his Developmental Simulation Football League days. We can all but guarantee he will not be a focal point on the offense with so many outstanding weapons around him, but I think Sal will be there as always when his number gets called. I can see him being used as a blocker for our all world running back Cobra Kai.
So, these thoughts have rung pretty true, and I could not be happier with how Sal has performed to this point in the season. Becoming a year 1 starter was something that was not expected when I was going through the scouting process or even thinking ahead to the draft. So that was a great surprise to not only be called up, but to also become a year 1 starter. I have been on the receiving end of a lot of check downs, and become a little bit of a safety blanket for our quarterback when things are not as open down the field. Sal Ami scored his first touchdown during Honolulu’s first win of the season. My wife still does not fully get my excitement for the International Simulation Football League games but was right there with a smile and half hearted high five after that score and win. At the time of writing, Sal Ami has 32 catches for 237 yards and 1 touchdown. Unbelievably somehow this means Sal leads rookies in total catches and is third in receiving yards. Also, I never highlighted this, but I got to stay at tight end in the International Simulation Football League which is awesome. I saw it cost 4 million dollars to switch positions so am super thankful now that I did not have to do that. Whenever down the road it is time to do a recreate, I will make sure I am more prepared for that with my player’s finances.
Cobra Kai has been even better than advertised. He is like a mixture of Christian McCaffery and Derrick Henry, and Johnny Lawerence. He is unstoppable on the field whether it is rushing or receiving. His circle seems to be a little faster than all the others. Kai is Mr. dependable on and off the field, and at this point I am guessing will be the league Most Valuable Player.
Season Projection
I know that Honolulu had a rough season this past year leading them to having the 2nd overall pick in the draft. From some of the TPE totals I have seen, we are also pretty far behind many of the other teams. I am not sure why that is but I know we have an awesome draft class this year and will keep working to close that gap. I am guessing that we start out pretty slow this year and end up being more competitive in the last quarter of the season. Overall I am predicting us to finish around 7-9. Not sure if that is an improvement from a season ago or not, but we are going to have more of a rebuild this season as we look to the future.
Ok so this can technically still happen. Buuuut thinking that I may have been a bit optimistic on the win side of things. I think our over / under for wins was 3.5. I think we will be over that. If I had to guess now, I would probably put us around 5 wins this season. We already have 2 so I think we can steal a few more as the season progresses. The power rankings had us listed as the 6th team after our 2 game winning streak and that was pretty funny to see.

My first impression was how much faster everything was for the International Simulation Football League games. Not talking in character, rather the players in the games are super fast. I text my friend Ice Bear about this and he agreed. You can definitely see the TPE differences during the games.
Job
I now fully understand why so many scouting conversations asked about getting a league job. Taking a 5 million dollar pay cut from the Developmental Football League was not something that I realized until I got drafted. I actually like it though because It forces me to be more active in writing media and keeps me engaged. I have browsed jobs and considered applying for a few different openings. I want to continue getting involved with the league so this is something that will happen at some point.
Story Time
Sal Ami was living it up after being drafted with the second overall pick in the International Simulation Football League draft. After making 6 million dollars in his lone season in Norfolk, he was ready for an even bigger pay day in the International Simulation Football League. Sal knew from stories that weekly training could be expensive and also equipment had a big price tag, but he figured that he would have cash to blow on his multi year big deal. All Sal could think about is, how many cars should he buy, vacation homes he could buy. Food has always been a weakness, Sal often wondered what it would take to buy some Papa John’s Franchises like his buddy Peyton Manning.
That dream quickly faded away. All of the hysteria from draft night led right into contract negotiations. That $6 million salary was reduced to a mere 1 million dollar one. “Oh well”, Sal thought, “I have some money saved up from my Developmental Simulation Football League season plus only needed to worry about buying some new equipment and to get some personal training in.”
Sal began his offseason work outs with the team but quickly realized he needed more if he was going to be an early contributor. He had always been a top TPE earner and vowed to continue this. So he went to the International Simulation Football League Headquarters where he decided to pay for some weekly training. First though he would need equipment for practice and also train in.
With all of this in mind, Sal went to the store to make his first big equipment purchase. As he gets to the counter they ask how they can help and Sal replies that he wants the best equipment money can buy. The cashier’s response is, “that will be 13.5 million dollars.”
Sal nearly dies. Who makes this equipment he wonders, Tony Stark? Sal reminds the cashier that he is a football player not one of the Avengers. None of this helped change the price. They offered cheaper options but none of them would work so Sal gave in and purchased the top equipment.
Going into practices next week, Sal decided now was the perfect time to round his season out and begin his personal training regimen. At his team headquarters he decided to register for weekly personal training. The cost for training? 1 Million Dollars. Dr. Evil Must have have come up with this pricing (mwhahaha). Sal’s entire rookie salary disappeared quicker than my Hahaula’s playoff chances.
To recover from the financial ruin of the International Simulation Football League, Sal is becoming a part time media author during the season, and a full time one during the off season. His hopes of becoming a food franchisee will have to wait until retirement.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far! Work is crazy and has led me to starting and stopping on finishing this over the last few weeks, but I hope it all reads well.
