McHits: I'm here today sitting with recent waiver acquisition, Norfolk Seawolves wife receiver Johnny Patey. Johnny, first of all, welcome to Norfolk! Any first impressions of the players and organization?
Patey: First impressions are great, team was super welcoming and helped me with so many things my first week. Being apart of a new organization, getting into team activities and bonding is usually the hard part but they have made that landing very smooth!
McHits: That's great to hear! We are pumped to have you and super excited at how quickly you are earning and progressing! Obviously, we've had a rough start so far, but our receiving corps has been a bright spot. What are your thoughts on playing alongside Malcador "The Hero" and French Fries? What can we expect from the three of you over the course of the season?
Patey: I mean those guys have been really showing me up I’m practice. I’m hoping with some more time, I can really solidify a three headed beast for the Seawolves. These guys practice regiments are next to none compared to what I’ve seen in the league so we’ll be blowing up CB’s and safeties in no time!
McHits: It sounds like the league should keep its eyes on Norfolk! Do you have any players you idolize or would like to emulate on the football field? Who are some of your favorite current or retired NFL players?
Patey: Well as I am newer to the sport, I never really idolized anyone as a kid. I really try to model my game around people like Metcalf and other big body receivers. I’m not quite as good or fast and strong but that’s why I’m putting in work with my teammates day in and day out.
McHits: D.K. is a great player to model after...what a beast! What are your career goals in this league? What would you like to be known for?
Patey: Career goal is to be a solid number 1/2 W.R, but most importantly win as many championships as possible. At the end of day it is all about winning as a team but I also wouldn’t mind being known for stacking up a lot of yards as well.
McHits: I love that team-first attitude! Let's get to some fun, non-football questions! What is your favorite band/artist? Is there a song or songs you are really vibing to right now that you can share with us?
Patey: I mean I’m into a lot of different music, not particularly any band/artist, more into different forms of EDM and rap. But if I had to choose one, preferably Wash us in the blood by Kanye, it seems to be the go to for game day!
McHits: Gotta love that game day music! What are your hobbies outside of football?
Patey: Outside of football, not much, maybe a little bit of video games and hanging out with family. I’m a simple guy, I don’t do much outside of work!
McHits: We all like to chill when we can! What games are you currently playing?
Patey: LOL is my current one but a lot of time has been devoted to work recently so there hasn’t been much time for fun unfortunately
McHits: I have it on good authority that League of Legends is very popular amongst ISFLers. I played once or twice and got absolutely slaughtered. Anything else you want the readers to know?
Patey: Just be ready to watch out once I make it to the big leagues, I'll be a house hold name.
McHits: You heard it here first, readers...Patey is here and ready to make plays! This sounds like a great pickup for Norfolk, and we'll all be keeping tabs on Patey's progress as he settles in to the league! Thanks for reading!
