ELIMINATED TEAMS:
Las Vegas Legion
Following Las Vegas' 37-26 loss to the Orange County Otters, the Legion have been eliminated from making the NSFL playoffs. The Legion had a disastrous season, definitely one to forget, but they will get better and better as time goes on. Quarterback Josh Bercovici will improve as well, as this has merely been a learning year on his first season with a full time starting job.
ON THE ICE:
Philadelphia Liberty
While it is not expected that the Philadelphia Liberty make a playoff push this season, they have not been eliminated yet, but face a tough schedule ahead and play the Baltimore Hawks, the Colorado Yeti and the Arizona Outlaws in consecutive weeks.
San Jose Sabercats
The Sabercats have pretty much given up on their playoff push after Tuesday's blockbuster trades, shipping off two of their most talented players in exchange for rookies and future draft picks. For now, the Sabercats are just looking to build for the future. The Sabercats have lost 7 straight games after their 3-1 start.
IN THE MIX:
Colorado Yeti
The Colorado Yeti bounced back from their 28-9 loss to the Baltimore Hawks with two straight wins in Week 10 & 11. First, they held off the Orange County Otters 17-10 at home, then traveled to San Jose and won 14-6. They are only a game behind both the Baltimore Hawks and the Yellowknife Wraiths, and could make their move to slide in as the Wraiths play a tough Orange County team next week.
Baltimore Hawks
The Baltimore Hawks are on a skid at the worst possible time. Just two games ago, the Hawks had a comfortable two game lead over the Yellowknife Wraiths and a three game lead over the Colorado Yeti. They lost in Yellowknife 24-17 and lost in Arizona 27-9. While these are two tough matchups, it slid them out of control of the NSFC.
Yellowknife Wraiths
The Wraiths finish off their season with three tough matchups. First, they travel to sunny Orange County to take on the Otters in what looks to be the most exciting game of Week 12, then they go home to take on the 8-2 Arizona Outlaws, and finish off the season hosting the Otters. This will prove to be a real test of the Wraiths' grit.
PRETTY MUCH IN:
Orange County Otters
The Otters haven't had the best season. One of the preseason favorites to win the regular season, they started off the year 1-3. After that, they've played impressively, going 5-2, their only losses being to two great teams in the Colorado Yeti and the Arizona Outlaws. While losing to the Outlaws at home raised some red flags, what really matters for the Otters is that they're (pretty much) in.
CLINCHED:
Arizona Outlaws
The Arizona Outlaws clinched their playoff spot in dominant fashion, beating the San Jose Sabercats 65-0 and were a pick six away from hitting 70. Then, they hosted the Hawks, and while it was not nearly as dominant, they still won by a whopping score of 29-7. So far, the Outlaws are the best team in the NSFL in S3.
