(This post was last modified: 08-15-2021, 06:10 AM by Crunk. Edited 1 time in total.)
I’m bored and broke so I decided to do some media today. It’s still a bit too early for my year in review media, so I’m doing something different. This is by far the media I spent the most time on, so I hope everyone enjoys it . Also, if this concept has already been made, I apologize, I’ve asked a couple people and they haven’t seen a post like this so hopefully I’m being original. So without further ado, let’s get started.
S1 - JJ Reigns - DL
There isn’t much info out there on the first few seasons of the ISFL, so these first couple are gonna be a bit tricky. Reigns had an impressive rookie campaign, racking up 46 tackles and 14 sacks, and being named a Pro Bowler. He was never able to reach these heights again however, and retired with 1 pro bowl to his name.
S2 - Dermot Lavelle - CB
Lavelle was another quick starter, earning a pro bowl nod in his first year. In fact, in his 13 seasons he made a pro bowl in every single one of them. He has won DBOY and DPOY once each, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest cornerbacks in league history. He currently sits in the ISFL Hall of Fame.
S3 - Antonio Sandoval - DL
Antonio Sandoval had a very good career with the Colorado Yeti, earning 3 pro bowls, having his number retired, and being in the Colorado Yeti Hall of Fame. He was on the ballot for a hall of fame selection in Season 14, but ultimately did not receive a single nomination.
S4 - Noah Goodson - LB
Noah Goodson won the Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year awards to start his career off in Arizona, but he eventually was traded to Baltimore where he would earn 2 Pro Bowl nods and would appear on the S15 Hall of Fame ballot, although he did not receive any votes. He current is tied for 3rd in Baltimore history for forced fumbles.
S5 - Carlito Crush - TE
Carlito Crush is regarded as one of the greatest Tight Ends in ISFL history (and is only the 2nd person so far to have a league wiki page which makes things a lot easier for me). He is a 2 time Ultimus winner, 1 time MVP, and a Wide Receiver of the Year winner with 7 Pro Bowls to boot. He currently sits in the ISFL Hall of Fame.
S6 - Brian Mills - LB
Brian Mills won a whopping 3 Ultimus’ during his time in the ISFL, playing for 2 different teams during those runs. Brian Mills is also notable for later being a general manager of the Tijuana Lichadores, who won 2 Ultiminis while under his watch. He is in the Luchadores ring of honor, as well as the ISFL Hall of Fame.
S7 - Howard Miller - WR
Howard Miller is a former ISFL MVP and Wide Receiver of the Year winner, as well as a 2 time Returner of the Year winner. He has accumulated 4 Pro Bowl selections, and is considered one of the greatest returners of all time. Despite this, he has not secured a Hall of Fame induction.
S8 - Ricky Romero - LB
Ricky Ramero had a decent career in the ISFL, winning 2 Ultimus’ and holding the Yeti record for most sacks in a season, but he was never considered the best at his position, and in a league where first overall picks almost never fail, is a little disappointing.
S9 - Xavier Flash - WR
Xavier Flash spent nearly his entire career in San Jose, becoming a cornerstone of the franchise and one of the key pieces to their Ultimus win in Season 14. He also still holds the franchise record for career receiving touchdowns. With 2 pro bowls and a retired number to his name, he is considered one of the best Sabrecats of all time.
S10 - D’Pez Poopsie - FB
I don’t know why they chose a fullback first overall. I wasn’t around during this time, it might’ve been a spite thing, it could’ve been a troll, but everyone knows that you generally shouldn’t pick a fullback first overall. There’s almost nothing about him on the wiki. All that’s there is a hall of fame ballot which means he must’ve done something right, and the draft page which states he went first overall. I know that he made at least one pro bowl, as designated by the draft page, but that’s about it.
S11 - Lennox Garnett - S
Lennox Garnett is considered one of the best safeties of all time, holding a few league records and setting about a couple dozen Philadelphia records in his journey to the hall of fame. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl 8 times, has won returner of the year once, and as states previously is a hall of famer. He is one of the best players to never win an Ultimus.
S12 - Freezer Riposte - DL
The Fridge is a multiple time pro bowler and former Ultimus champion with the Sabercats, who drafted him first overall in Season 12. He ended up being a key piece in that championship team, and ended his career as an all-time great Sabercat, holding a 2nd place spot in their career sacks category.
S13 - Johnny Snuggles - CB
Johnny Snuggles is a 5 time pro bowler, achieving all of this pro bowls during his run with the Wraiths. During said run, he also won an Ultimus. He has won the Defensive Rookie of The Year award, and is sitting in 2nd place in the ISFL career pass deflections list. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame because of these accolades, and is considered an all-time great Cornerback.
S14 - Cooter Bigsby - QB
Surprisingly, Cooter is the only Quarterback to be selected first overall in the ISFL draft. It’s especially surprising when you consider the incredible career he had. He won Rookie of the Year during his first year, and has won 2 MVP awards throughout his career. He was also the signal caller for the Wraiths Season 23 Championship win. After the win however, Cooter was reported missing after not responding to text messages or phone calls for weeks. He has not been seen or heard from since the championship win, but has been posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame.
S15 - Brock Landers - WR
Brock Landers had a pretty decent career with the Outlaws and Hawks, winning an Ultimus with the former and winning 2 Pro Bowls along the way. His stats took a dip after season 15 though, and he has not made it in to the ISFL Hall of Fame.
S16 - Sam Torenson - RB
It’s generally considered risky to draft a running back this high, but Sam Torenson made it pay off. 8 Pro Bowls, 2 Running Back of The Year awards, Offensive Rookie of The Year and more. He ranks top 5 in every major category in the ISFL career record books, and is 1st in Rushing Yards. He is not eligible for a Hall of Fame induction yet, but it’s hard to believe he won’t get in with how accomplished he is.
S17 - Ashley Owens - RB
I don’t regularly follow the ISFL and I don’t know much about its history but one of the people in this list I do know is Run CMC. Owens is top 10 in every major rushing category, is a multiple time pro bowler, and a former Offensive Player of the Year. Though he is not eligible yet, the Silverbacks Ring of Honor member should have an easy path to the Hall of Fame
S18 - Bjørn Ironside - DT
Bjorn Ironside has fulfilled his duties and then some as the Second Line’s first overall pick back in Season 18, contributing greatly to their Season 21 Ultimus, winning a pro bowl, and is tied 3rd for most Sacks in a season for the Second Line.
S19 - Mack Arianlacher - LB
Mack Arianlacher was selected first overall by the Second Line in Season 19, and ended up winning the Defensive Rookie of the year award that season. He was selected by the Hahalua in their expansion draft, and eventually won an Ultimus with them. Mack is one of the only people on this list to have not won a Pro Bowl.
S20 - Kyle Idlewyld - DE
It’s not very often you see a team pick first overall and then win the Ultimus the very next year, but that’s exactly what happened to the Copperheads in Season 20. And the Defensive Rookie of the year that season, Kyle Idlewyld, played no small part in that victory. He has earned 3 Pro Bowl awards in his career, and has been a cornerstone of the Copperheads defense.
S21 - Prince Vegeta - S
Prince Vegeta has been a great addition to the Otters defense, holding a franchise record for career defensive touchdowns, holding 3 pro bowls, and winninng Safety of the Year. He also holds the ISFL record for most interception return yards in a single game, at 169 yards.
S22 - Colt Mendoza - CB
It sure seems like a lot of Copperheads first overall picks end their careers in New York. Mendoza has won many awards over the course of his ongoing career, including 2 all-pro selections, 3 pro bowls, and an ultimus defensive player of the game award in the Silverbacks Season 29 Ultimus win.
S23 - Greedy Sly - S
Greedy Sky has been a staple of the Yeti defensive unit since Season 23, and has had a decent career so far, racking up 2 pro bowl nods. He is also top 5 in Yeti single season tackles.
S24 - Juan Domine - LB
Juan Domine has been a valuable asset to the Butchers defense, as evident by them winning the ultimus in just his first year. Domine also won a pro bowl that year. He hold the butchers career sack record as well.
S25 - Swantavious Jones - CB
Things are going to slow down a bit here, as there simply isn’t much to talk about with how early these guys are in their careers. He is tied for the record of most passes defended in a single ISFL game, at 8.
S26 - BamBam McMullet - LB
The player with my favorite name on this list, BBMM hasn’t done a whole lot since being drafted in season 26, but he did have an all-pro selection in season 28.
S27 - Eleven Kendrick-Watts - WR
Numbers is a cool guy, but EKW hasn’t done very much since being drafted, being sent down his first 2 years in the league. He is currently having a great year though, with 1286 yards and 9 touchdowns.
S28 - Luke Quick - WR
Quick has been a solid receiver for the Hawks since being drafted, currently sitting at 863 yards and 2 touchdowns for Season 30.
S29 - Dante King - RB
The King of Dante is doing a great job in Season 30, with 684 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns.
S30 - Sheriff Woody - LB
We’ve made it to the end of the list. I believe Woody was sent back down to the DSFL, so it’s way too early to tell if he is gonna be good or not.
So there’s a quick summary of every 1st overall pick in ISFL history. I’ve had a fun time learning about the history of the ISFL as a write this, and I hope that all 2 people that will read this is enjoy it as well. Thank you very much for reading, and have a wonderful day!
