Dallas Birddogs vs Tijuana Luchadores
On what was the game of the week in my opinion and could be one of the top games of the year from the ending alone, there were definitely some over-reactions to take away from the 13 point comeback game one of the DSFL season..

Can the Birddogs compete with the best teams on offence?
After looking at the first half of the game, the Birddogs scored all 20 of their points in the first half of the game looking very good in the passing game. But what happened in the second half? I’ll tell you what happened, not much. After mustering up most of their passing yards in the first half, they were not able to get anything past this Luchadore defense which finished with 5 sacks and 5 TLF and a safety. On top of that, the running game looked next to nothing with 24 attempts for a total of 65 yards, a total of 2.71 yards per carry. For a team that looks to own a full offensive line of bots, we are going to keep a close eye on this running game because they will not be able to compete with teams that have a consistent secondary.
Can the Luchadores sustain a good passing attack with a bot?
What a way to finish the game for the Luchadores, down 13 points to come back for the win on a safety with less than 10 seconds to go! But looking at the first half drives, it went fumble, TD, interception, punt, punt. This is probably not what they expected to see in the first half but after looking at the post game stats I was not surprised. This was not on my radar to start the season but can the Luchadores maintain points each game when a bot has your second most receiving yards at the end of the game? The running game may have been on point today led by Whip with 97 yards on 20 carries but will teams be able to catch on to this game plan and stop them like the cardinals did to the titans with Henry? I believe so which is why I believe this team may start to struggle against other teams once they catch on to this teams makeup as well. A defence can only be so good for some long... looking at you Steelers.
Kansas City Coyotes vs London Royals
After watching this game, it started off nothing like I thought it would but then turned into exactly what I thought it would be, a snooze fest that you could just turn off. There were some interesting parts of each team's game that you should be aware of which may come back to haunt them in the upcoming games.

Do the Coyotes even have a running game?
17 of the total 46 rushing yards came off two plays late into the 4th quarter leaving them with 29 yards on 15 carries which is a whopping 1.93 yards per carry. Going back through the game, most of these rushes were obviously short yardage gains but a few were also negative gains which is not something you want to see from a team that went 9-5 last year and is looking to get back into the playoffs. Although this team does have a solid passing attack with it’s two veterans in Fantuz and Higgins, this is not a game plan you want to consistently have, especially against the top teams and not against a team that finished with 1 win last season.
Is this the same ol’ Royals?
After losing 4 straight games in the preseason and now the first game of the regular season, what are the Royals plans moving forward for the rest of the season? The Coyotes had some big plays with a 67 yard passing TD and a 96 yard kickoff return resulting in a TD so stopping those big plays could be the difference of this Royals team having a decent defense. It seems like this is a never ending circle for them for as long as I have been in the league. After their touchdown in the first quarter, they finished the game with 1 TD in the fourth quarter, 5 punts, 1 interception, 1 fumble and 2 turnovers on downs. It’s not like this Coyotes team did not give them a chance back in the game, they had 10 drives to try and squeeze out some points but only converted on one of them. Maybe it’s the play calling, maybe it’s the players, maybe it’s both but this team needs to find answers on how they HAVE to start converting on the offensive side of the ball consistently.
Minnesota Grey Ducks vs Portland Pythons
Coming off back to back Ultimini wins and a flawless preseason, the Ducks were ready to quack, but did the Pythons sink their fangs into the beaks of those ducks before they could speak?

Is the dynasty over?
After losing 1 game entirely last season to the Seawolves, the Ducks lose the first game of their short lived undefeated season in a 30-6 stomp from the Pythons. Would you believe me if I told you the Ducks had 15 drives this game and all they got was 2 field goals? This team definitely has a lot of work to do since most of their players from last year's winning team got called up. With a team of a rookie QB, rookie RB, and 2 rookie receivers, you may have a hard time watching this team on a weekly basis continue to get three and outs. Considering this team only had 1 punt inside the 20 off of 10 punts, you can tell that this offence will not get up the field very often this season.
New kids in the North?
After what looked to be a terrible preseason for the Pythons finishing 1-3, they quickly bounced back in their season opener against the defending champs but did the offence really look that good when the team scored 30 points? After finishing with 2 field goals in 6 drives in the first half, the team looked a little shaky against a team with 2 bots and a rookie as their CB’s. In the second half of the game, this Pythons offence did manage to pick it up but was it because of the easy game plan they were able to run against a depleted Ducks team, I think so.
Norfolk Seawolves vs Bondi Beach Buccaneers
After not so great S30 seasons from both of these teams, they have different outlooks moving into the S31 season. What was hoping to be a repeat for the Seawolves in the preseason was not exactly what both sides were expecting after finishing their first games of the season.

Better than expected?
The Buccaneers made it very aware to all teams that they had 10 players called up to the ISFL this season, most of any team. After losing to the Seawolves 73-7 in the preseason, they managed to change the regular season outlook in only a 42-21 loss. Even though the game was better than expected, the buccaneers got torched on defense allowing 542 total yards, 395 through the air and 147 on the ground. For a team with some rookies and veterans on defense, they will need to be earners quick to stop these high powered passing offences in the DSFL this season and to also have a chance in the South division. With 0 sacks and 0 TFL on the other side of the ball, the offence will certainly not be able to keep up in these slugfests.
Underwhelming?
After winning as many games in the preseason as they did all last season, the Seawolves were looking to head into the season with some fire, especially after beating the buccaneers 73-7 in the preseason. This team is also slated to be one of the top teams with not many players being called up to the ISFL, but was that the case today? After a strong start to the game leading 28-7, the wheels seemed to fall off for a Seawolves team against a depleted Buccs teams. After leading by 21, the Buccs were able to bring the game back to one score heading into the fourth quarter after an interception and 2 punts from the Seawolves in the third. By the end of the game the Seawolves were able to bring it back to normalcy but what happens when they reach another team with a stronger defense in the division, will they be able to keep the consistency going or will they have to rely on a defense that only had one sack and two TFL?
