Cedric Wilkins II, fresh from what some might consider a career year with the London Royals, returns to the podium in his hometown, Baton Rouge, LA. Many reporters found this to be an odd choice for the player who they figure is likely to feature for the Philadelphia Liberty next season, having expected he might hold a press conference in Pennsylvania, and the crowd buzzes with nervous energy about what Wilkins' choice to instead return to his home state might mean for his future with the franchise that drafted him.
The crowd suddenly falls silent as Wilkins, larger than life as he always intends to be, enters the room and steps to the microphone. "Thank y'all for coming today," he greets the audience, the intent behind his accompanying smile hidden by the sunglasses covering his eyes. "I am beyond thrilled to be home in the great state of Louisiana; I have loved my time in London, but there is nothing quite like United States turf beneath your cleats to get a man going. Now, I understand y'all likely have some questions for me, and hopefully I have some satisfactory answers for y'all, so let's get this thing started".
"Please y'all, settle yourselves, I want to take some questions but I ain't got all day."
"Well, you know, I'd never had that opportunity to play this game anywhere but the U.S., and getting to sort of help build the fanbase around the sport in the U.K., that's an experience I'll carry with me forever. That said, like I said coming into this, ain't nothing beats balling on my home turf, and that's here in the U.S. of A."
"I've been giving this offseason everything I've got, working to just improve my game all around. I'm known as a special teamer, you can see that in my tape, but I want to prove to people that I can be a factor on the defensive side of the ball as well. I'm here to make my presence felt, so expect loud play from me."
"I really think this past season, I started to really show what I'm capable of on defense. People know me as an athlete, but they've always been skeptical of me as a corner, and I'm trying my best to prove 'em wrong. That said, I'm here to make an impact, and I'm disappointed that with all my talent, I never found the end zone last season. I want to show up in the box score, and that's the way to do it."
Wilkins looks taken aback by this comment, but quickly shakes himself back to reality and gestures for nearby security personnel to handle the responsible reporter. "Well, clearly some of us have different professional standards," he says, letting a nervous laugh escape him.
"I know I'm a game changer, that's for sure. I don't know if I'm enough to turn things around for this squad, but I know I've got talent, and I'm going to do what I can to show it."

Have you changed your diet recently? Your balls have tasted a bit bland lately.

Philly finished just outside the playoffs, do you think you can be the spark they need to help bring them back?
