Hello everyone, coming to you with another edition of The ISFL Post (Thanks to @mithrandir for the name suggestion!)
HEAD OFFICE CHANGES
The first order of business is some recent staffing changes in Head Office. As you will no doubt be aware from the update at the weekend, @bex has moved on from Head Office and the role of league commissioner, a position that she held for exactly 2 years! To put that into perspective, when Bex was hired Season 18 was just finishing up and the word 'Covid' meant nothing to anyone! Bex won't be gone for good though, as she holds the newly created position of ISFL Treasurer! More to come on that in a minute.
We also welcome @.simo as the newest member of ISFL Head Office! Simo has served in DSFL HO for the best part of a year, and I've always appreciated how involved Simo is with every cross-HO topic that comes up. I look forward to seeing what he can bring to ISFL HO!
ISFL BANK ACCOUNT
As previously mentioned, Bex is our new ISFL Treasurer and with that comes the responsibility of managing the league's money. In terms of league expenses, we currently pay for the domain name and hosting costs for our server. In terms of income, the only method we have right now is from donations from league users.
The other thing we would like to start allocating budget towards is recruitment. We have trialled ads on Facebook, Reddit and Google before, but these have always come directly out of league members pockets, so we will endeavour to formalise this. Once our league balance is high enough to cover 6 months of league expenses, anything above that will be allocated to recruitment (efficiently!).
And already, the league balance is above this threshold, currently standing at $330.20! Thank you so much to @Pat, @bex, @Dewalt27, @RussDrivesTheBus, @Muford, @Painted, @Crodyman, @Fronk and @Sebster for your extremely generous donations! Most of these donations will be going towards ad campaigns that our Recruitment Team, headed up by @TheCC, will be looking to run over the next couple of months.
We're also exploring other potential avenues of income. For example: ad revenue from streaming games on certain platforms as well as (maybe) launching an ISFL merch store!
ISFL SERVER
In case you missed the announcement on Saturday, users will now be paid for their activity in the ISFL Discord! For a full outline on how you're rewarded for your activity, go to the #isfl-info channel in the server. We're also on the lookout for individuals who want to run games in the server, so get in touch if you have an idea we can help make happen!
One of the main reasons we did this was to encourage the league to come together as one, and set a foundation upon which we can consolidate more of the league's activity that might currently sit in other servers. So be on the lookout for more ways to get involved coming soon!
OFFSEASON SURVEY
Thank you so much to the 269 of you who filled out the offseason survey, even though we bribed you to do it for that sweet, sweet TPE! We got some really interesting rolled up statistics that we will benchmark and continue to ask every offseason going forward, as well as some great suggestions and insight from the free text questions.
Here's a summary of some of the overall stats that we got from the survey:
We asked what other leagues users participate in:
* 42% of survey respondents also have a player in the SHL, 37% in PBE, 37% in WSBL, 16% in SCSFL, 6% in VHL and 5% in EFL.
We asked: 'How interested would you be if game streams were done live, with 1 or 2 'featured' games per stream, which are streamed at regular speed with commentary?'
* 43% of respondents put between 7-10, 30% put between 4-6, 27% put between 0-3.
We asked: 'How likely are you to recommend the ISFL to a friend?'
* 56% of respondents put between 7-10, 29% put between 4-6, 15% put between 0-3.
We asked 'When your current player retires, will you create a new player?'
* 54% said Yes, 37% said Undecided, 9% said No.
For these final two questions, these numbers are a little lower than we would like, so we will be scouring your suggestions and looking for ways to keep improving! We'll then ask the same two questions every offseason going forward as a way of constantly checking the pulse of the league as a whole.
OVERALL LEAGUE ACTIVITY
Summer is over, students are back to school and the world is opening back up again. What we've noticed, and you might have noticed it too, is that overall league activity is down versus peak lockdown levels. While a big chunk of the reasons as to why are entirely out of our control (our affiliate sim leagues have been experiencing the same trends), we are constantly brainstorming ideas to keep things fresh and keep users interested. Your survey suggestions will go a long way to helping out, but if you have any other specific ideas or just want to help out, please feel free to get in touch any time!
JOBS
Somewhat related to the above, league jobs are the best way individuals can contribute to keep the league running, and a great way for you to earn some league cash and passes. We've got a few tasty roles open at the moment:
Dev Head
Update Head
Community Moderation Head
Co-Rookie Mentor Head
Simmer
Streamer
NEW PLAYERS!
A warm welcome to the newest potential future ISFL Hall of Famers! We look forward to seeing what you can do on the field!
WR Cody Hansen, @YoungBuck
WR Fernando Garza, @Fergarzar
K Cookie Dokha, @RDonuts
TE Molki Koivu, @Briedaqueduc
RB William Groves, @Will3
QB Daybe Downbad, @Wombat
S Andrew Matsche, @Amatsche6
WR Kevin Moore, @CrazyAwesomeDude
That's about it for this edition, thank you for reading and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
