Ah! Well, greetings to all my fellow competitors and potential teams of the DSFL and ISFL! I am the enduring and stoic, Solace Avenger. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and divulge how I became a high level potential prospect for the upcoming DSFL draft!
It all begins in the late 90s in Miami, Florida. I was born as the eldest of three children to two lovely parents. From the earliest moment in my youth, I realized that I was going to be a large and strong person as I was born ten pounds and three ounces in the delivery room and was quite a rambunctious person as well!
Throughout my youth, I wanted to play sports as much as possible in order to interact with a lot of people and to get better at physical labor and actions. Through all the sports I played, American Football stuck with me the most. As I grew into my body, people around me noticed and told me that I had the size and ability to play the defensive line. When I heard that, I was ecstatic because I have always been more interested in playing defense than offense because offense to me seems too simplified and dummed down while defense is more complex and rewarding if you can play it at an elite level! Thus, throughout middle school and high school I focused on bulking up and refining my technique 24/7 so that I can be able to play at the college level.
During my training, I came across the ISFL and saw for the first time Azarius Ranger. When I saw him, he was a bit older than the typical defensive lineman, yet he still dominated the game and made winning plays for his team, the New Orleans Second Line. I noticed that he was going to retire during my senior year of high school and wanted to go into coaching so I wondered if I can be coached by him. After that notice, I immediately contacted him after my senior year of high school and asked him if I can be coached by him. To my surprise, not only did he say yes, but he noticed some of my high school highlights and wanted to personally train me himself so that I can become the next great defensive lineman.
Before I came into contact with Ranger, I was already at a good enough level to where I was able to rated as a high four star prospect and was able to receive offers from the contender level programs in college football, giving me a wide array of schools to choose from. However, at the end of the day, I chose the Florida Gators because of two reasons. One, I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my mentor, Azarius Ranger, as he went and graduated from the university and showed out. Two, I wanted to help the university get over the hump and make the playoffs by contributing greatly to the defensive side of the ball and help re-establish the legend of elite Gator defenses! With that being said, I spent the summer between my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college training with Ranger so that I can dominate.
Going into my freshman year at UF, my training with Ranger more than paid off. Almost immediately, I was given the starting position at the defensive tackle position and helped to immediately reestablish the Gator Defense as a feared and legendary unit. Throughout my freshman year, I wanted to get back at every SEC team in our schedule to help reestablish the honor of the Gators. Against Kentucky, I had 5 tackles and 2 sacks; against Tennessee, I especially ate and had 10 tackles and 3 sacks! The run of success continued as we managed to dominate the rest of the east and get revenge on Georgia especially as we finished with an 11-1 regular season record. This would allow us to matchup against Alabama in the SEC championship. The game was essentially the true national championship as both teams were going blow for blow in a low scoring defensive game. We gave it our all against Bama with me having 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF, and a FR, yet it was not enough as our offense was not able to get into range to score the game tying FG, causing us to lose and miss out on the chance to go into the playoffs. While the game was heartbreaking, we were proud of what we had accomplished in a short time and I was proud of contributing greatly to this turnaround! As a reward for my efforts, I was selected as not only first team All-SEC, but I was labeled as a first team All-American as well.
In my sophomore year, it was a repeat of my freshman year all the way down to the heartbreaking loss to Alabama in the SEC championship game. However, in my junior year, as they say, third time's the charm. For me personally, this was a legendary season not only for me but for the Gators as well. We managed to limit opponents to less than 10 points per game and achieved a takeaway in every game of the season. For me, I managed to accrue, 100 tackles, 15 sacks, 6 FFs, 6 FRs, 2 Ints, and 1 Defensive Touchdown. My presence and growth made it easier on our defense as teams had to scheme for me alone, allowing for my teammates to be able to have the easiest jobs in the world on defense! All these combined efforts allowed us to accrue a 12-0 perfect regular season record going into the SEC championship. You know how they say defense wins championships? Well, we managed the rare honor of not only blowing out Alabama but also shutting them out as well. As a result of that victory, we demoralized and dominated the playoffs as we managed back to back shutouts en route to Florida's fourth championship all time!
For my efforts, I was awarded not only SEC championship MVP but also the MVP of the playoffs as well. With the conclusion of my junior year at UF, I have decided to bring us to this point: declaring for the DSFL draft. Now that you know my story, I hope that I can be drafted high and be able to continue to put in the work so that I can continue to dominate and make my mentor proud!
