Following Tight End Eighty-Two's sophomore season, he has made the decision that he no longer wants to play the position and has undergone the process to become the next quarterback of the Austin Copperheads. He will sit for the next 2 seasons while Jackie Daytona, the most average quarterback in the league, finishes off his career, where he will then become the next quarterback of the team. There have been many questions about this move like "why is this happening" and "who even is tight end Eighty-Two" And "why is Zayn so bad", and these questions will probably not be answered. But there will be words in this article for sure. Most of those article will be spent rambling about isfl topics as it's been a long time since I wrote any media and I need to make sure people know my opinion about these topics because I know how much everyone cares.
First up, I'd like to talk about tight end a little bit. I like this position. It was enjoyable to be both a blocker and a reciever, although it's very likely I'd have moved to a more valuable position anyways. I think that it does go under appreciated since it's kind of a jack of all trades and i guess that isn't too valued around the league, maybe for good reason. One thing I wish was a thing was tight end points for pancakes in fantasy. Tight ends are fairly irrelevant in fantasy, they don't score too many points because half of their game is ignored and obviously the tight end is not usually the number one target on a team, so they're not really getting the yards that another skill position would get and it just leaves tight ends as the odd ones out, besides kicker I guess. Please change it. Shoutout to trempale being the biggest tight end fan I've ever met, the server is fire and I'm glad someone values the position because lord knows I don't lol.
Next I want to talk about the move to quarterback, which I'm sure is confusing to many people. I personally am honored that I will get the chance to be the quarterback for Austin, which is a pretty special honor. I am very excited to have the opportunity to fulfill that position for a team I love and I look forward to being the signal caller, even if it's only for a few seasons before it's recreate timez especially because I won't be able to swap again. QB is a special position and being trusted to play that means the world to me so I'm very ready, even if that means 2 seasons and multiple in real life months of never touching the field but that's how it is. Not going to lie, I thought I'd be able to taysom hill it while I waited out the bank's but the sim rules don't allow it. Damn you draft day sports and not knowing how to not make quarterbacks busted. Actually devastated that won't ever come to fruition. In 2 seasons hopefully it will be a seamless transition for us. I'm not sure how often teams magically find a 900 TPE+ quarterback right after their current one retires, and I don't think there has been a free agent quarterback move in God knows how long. With Bayley Cowabunga, Johnny Patey and Cliff Burton who will be higher TPE in 2 seasons, I'll be stepping into a great recieving core, along with having a running back in Jim the Vampire. I can't imagine other quarterback swaps have had the option of sitting for a bit while redistributing TPE, or had offensive cores like ours as I'd assume most quarterback swaps probably weren't made with as much time and were likely way more desperate. But I'm also not a league history expert so I am probably very wrong on that point, as usual on everything else to be honest.
You know, I'm not really sure what kind of quarterback I'm going to end up being. I'm currently mobile but I'm not really sure that's how I want to go, the archetype and playbook changes to present an interesting wrinkle in that however. Maybe it is now a viable option to be mobile, which I think would be something awesome for the league, as a pocket passer meta is fairly boring and having more variability in player building is great. I find it interesting that ultimately mobile did kind of get a nerf in the run game but it feels a bit neccesary as you don't want that arch to become the only useful one. Honestly, with this aforementioned great recievers I think I will want to utilize them and end up going to a passer arch, but it's a certainly a hard choice and I may just stay. I am sad that I will never get to see my player see the benefits of the new tight end changes. I had just gotten enough TPE for the recieving tight end trait, so if I had known this was going to happen I would have just spent all my TPE and not bothered banking so much. These changes seem really exciting for my tight end friends and I'm glad for them that hopefully they'll be more useful targets in the offense, which you love to see.
You know, I guess I'll talk about the changes the sim balance team has made for next season. Shoutout to them for all the hard work they put into making the league better, y'all are awesome for real.
I won't talk about everything but let's start with linebackers. Pass rusher is, to put it lightly, is the best linebacker archetype right now and the efforts to make the other ones actually competitive options is something I like. The other archetypes becoming useful in area besides sacks should hopefully help the position be more varied
Next, defensive line. Although the only increase was in weight, it appears that this change has made it massively more realistic in how the position plays, allowing them to hopefully get the sack and tackle for loss numbers they deserve. While they are no doubt important and clear the lane for linebackers to get these sacks, it certainly is hard to just be the guy no one notices who puts in a lot of work and I hope these changes let defensive line players have more fun with it.
After that, running back and wide reciever. I feel bad for recieving backs as it does feel like they were neglected in these changes but at least power back is more competitive and maybe even better than speed back, which is awesome. Running back is up there for a recreate position so I'll be keeping a close eye on these ones. The new return specialist archetype is very interesting and looks like it could be fun, best wide reciever 2 ever haha. I know many people enjoy kick returning and finally the archetype for them has arrived. I wonder just how good this arch will be in comparison and if regular recievers or running backs or even linebackers like Austin ran this season will compete with the new archetype in returning, or if it will be too far and definitely make there be a legitimate difference. Extremely excited for this one.
Circling back to quarterbacks, the 3 headed race for rookie of the year between Wendell Sailor @.simo, Malcolm Savage @MN_Moosey and Carter (bust) Knight @Frostbite. My pick for the winner of this race is Sailor. I think the team around Sailor will give him the edge here, as having both deadly memes and Jay cue Jr as runners will help a lot in keeping the pressure off sailor to make big plays while he lacks as much TPE as some other QBs. He also has the most TPE of the 3. Savage doesn't have the running back play like Sailor, and while he has reigning wide reciever of the year Tugg Speedman, as a mobile QB his arm isn't too great and he'll need more TPE to be elite, although his rushing ability could provide a second element to his game that puts him apart. Finally, Knight just kinda sits in the middle. He doesn't have the best running play or reciever core, so he'll probably just kind of be there, but not really be anything special in comparison to sailor or maybe even Savage.
Okay well I think everyone has had enough of my rambling. Sorry if you read all that.
