The Long Road to San Jose
January 10, 2022
Talls
The road to San Jose for linebacker prospect Nick Flint out of the London Royals has been a fun and exhausting experience for the prospect. From the humble beginnings in Columbus, OH, to across the pond and a year of development landed him in a great spot in San Jose. This is the life and background for the prospect in order to fill in all San Jose Saber Cat fans in on the life of their first round draft pick.
As mentioned in a previous article, Flint grew up in Columbus, Ohio, going to Gahanna-Lincoln high school. He dominated throughout his high school career, before moving on to The Ohio State University for his college career. The software engineering major began his college career like most prospects, slow, before coming on strong towards the end of his career. Either coming close or breaking records throughout his career.
He made headlines and turned numerous heads when he befriended World Wrestling Enterprise superstar, John Cena, and was captured around town in an Acura NSX. He made multiple headlines as being an outspoken presence off the field and an even more fierce player on it. He was approached multiple times for separate sponsorships and was able so secure a hefty Name-Image-and-Likeness pay check during his college years.
Once he made it to London, after being drafted number two, overall, Flint started slow once again but picked up steam throughout the season. Flint self admittingly has focused on becoming a better all-around player but specializing in sacks and forced fumbles. This culminated in the Developmental Simulation Football League pro bowl where he was named one of the top defensive players of the game with one sack and one forced fumble. If he continues this sort of production, Flint has a real chance to push for some end-of-season awards, which he came in second for defensive rookie of the year this season.
Now, as a member of the San Jose Saber Cats, the prospect has been sent back down to the Developmental Simulation Football League to continue to develop before making a splash in the International Simulation Football League in the coming seasons. Flint appears to fit right in with the existing team and should help continue the excellence at the linebacker position for the Saber Cats. Only time will tell but, I for one, am ready to see what the future holds for this budding new star.
