We all have mentors that help us throughout our lives. However, in my case, I had the help of a living legend. During my high school training, I came across the ISFL and saw for the first time Azarius Ranger. When I saw him, he was a bit older than the typical defensive lineman, yet he still dominated the game and made winning plays for his team, the New Orleans Second Line, which was closer to the time of his retirement. As a result of that, I noticed that he was going to retire during my senior year of high school and wanted to go into coaching so I wondered if I can be coached by him. After that notice, I immediately contacted him after my senior year of high school and asked him if I can be coached by him. To my surprise, not only did he say yes, but he noticed some of my high school highlights and wanted to personally train me himself so that I can become the next great defensive lineman. This had a great impact as it not only improved my skillset, but led me to being one of the highest sought-after prospects in the league going forward, a great move by my part to ask him!
