They say that you should never meet your heroes but, for Tatsu Nakamura, it couldn't have been a better experience. A big Portland Pythons fan from a young age, Nakamura got to see a lot of amazing future ISFL greats dominating at the DSFL level. The biggest two players that he loved seeing play, who he had the chance to watch closely as he himself was beginning to develop into a potential future pro football player, were Jay Cue and, of course his predecessor, Franklin Armstrong. As Nakamura's career reaches its end and he reflects back, he considers himself oh so lucky to have had the chance to play with two of his favorite football players after getting the chance to play for the same DSFL team he'd always been a fan of. On top of that, Nakamura counts himself to be so blessed to have had Armstrong take him under his wing when Nakamura came to play for Orange County. Every chance he has, Nakamura continues to heap praise on how amazing Armstrong was in the OCO locker room and how much he helped Tatsu to learn and grow into his position on the team. Armstrong was absolutely one of Nakamura's most important and influential mentors in his life and in his ISFL career.
To be honest, I’ve had so many mentors, it’s difficult to name just one. But, from when I first started out in the league, I’d have to say that Russet Buster was there for me at every step. When I got drafted by Kansas City, he was there to help get adjusted to the new setting. He was there for me when I wanted to improve and when I wanted to change my position. He was supportive the whole way through. He was one of the first people who contacted me after I joined the league. Through my ups and downs, I knew that I could ask him about any problems I would face in the league. And so, even though I haven’t forgotten about all the other mentors I have had, I’d say thank you to Russ for the wisdom and guidance he’s given to me and many others.

My mentor for my entire ISFL and DSFL has been the legendary Artic Ice Bear. He is a great friend in real life, and the one who got me to join this fun simulation football league. When I first started, I found the forums to be extremely confusing. I could not figure out where to find Point tasks or claims or anything. Thankfully he helped me get through all of that craziness or I highly doubt that I would have stayed on and be playing still today.
When it came to making money I was also extremely confused. I could not figure out for the life of me how to spend money, when, or how to make it. He helped me by basically giving me a free media interview where I gained a bunch of money that I used for trainings and such. In my opinion, Ice Bear is the Sim Football G.o.a.t.!
Coming into New York as a young DB, there where many younger players who where making their first mark, young DBs like Dukburg Quakstak, Mac Griddle, Tomage McGullager where all either rookies or going into their 2nd season. With this core, the biggest aqusation that the silverbacks made to help with this core that they built through the draft and expansion draft was that they got two older vets. Thor Kirkby was a former SoTY and was traded over from colorado where he had helped win a ultimus with the club, he was a huge influence on Bob Roberts, and helped him develop into one of the better safeties in the game. Kirkby helped him in many ways and while he was only in new york for 3 seasons he left a massive impact on the team. The other Player who was really help ful for a young DB was Jordan Andrews. A very old FA, he joined in order to have on last shot as a starter and he helped the silverbacks for one season and helped turn some of the CBs into super stars
Today I am sharing a story of my hero and my mentor. He is the person that inspires me to reach where I am today and that generous personality is my adopted father. I have no words to explain that how much I feel myself lucky to have a person like him in my life. He is a person that always cares about my future and never ever cares about his health. He struggled very hard to provide me everything that I needed and never ever said “no” if he would not have money to buy that thing for me but always tried to fulfill my wish by facing pain. He never cares about days and nights but he always cares about my needs and my dreams. He let me dream to be a football star, and now here I am starting a pro career with so much in front of me.
As a new user back in S22, my personal mentors were @Kyle and @gucci. They were the GMs who drafted me to a then- expansion franchise Dallas Birddogs. However, they are much, much more to me than just that. When I first joined, I planned on being a strictly forum- based, casual type of user. But those two's scouting messages got me to install discord, get into the Birddogs locker room, and got me so much invested in said locker room through the great culture they created, that I stuck around the league until even now, which is almost two years after the date I joined. Also it was those two that gave me my very first (albeit unofficial) league job, by inducting me into the Birddogs war room halfway through my forst season there, and it was from that small job I had progressed into the user that I am now. Although my second player ended up in a different team, I'm still very thankful to the things gucci and kyle have done for me. (176)
