Hello everybody. I know people typically like to do these sort of things in character, but I want to speak a little bit from the heart here as the user, not the player, supertardis101. I have been a part of this league for about 18 months. That is insane to me. I originally had joined this league as a sort of side league to my primary league the PBE. However, I have found my time here to be completely awesome. I have enjoyed every minute just being around in this league from the high points of Ultimus wins to the lowest points of league-tearing drama. I have seen a lot over my 10 seasons in the league and 8 in the ISFL itself. I have been continually impressed with the excellence of so many of the leaders in this league all way from Commish down to Captains and GMs at the team level. There are so many awesome people here, and even though this league was never my top priority, I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
It is with this heavy heart of loving this league that I must make an announcement regarding my player, Rickie Vaughne, and his retirement from this league. Rickie is going to formally retire from the ISFL at the end of this season.
I am so thankful for all of the goodwill, awesomeness, leadership, and just general excellence I have had the pleasure of receiving and experiencing in this league. I have to especially shout out the fine guys and gals who have pioneered the Sabercats over my 8 seasons there. There are too many awesome people to count and thank here, but there are a few folks I want to thank especially. @ckroyal92 has been my GM in this league for 9 seasons. He has done a kickass job and made my stay most enjoyable to the point where I spent my career with his team. We have been on rival teams facing off in other leagues in the past, but I am glad we were always allies here in our fight against the ISFL forces of darkness! @Matty7478 @Rradum @RussDrivesTheBus all have been kickass co-gms who have always led the way just spectacularly. I have enjoyed working with you guys so much during each of your respective terms in the position. You guys have been awesome friends, coaches, leaders, and strategists. I am ever thankful for the various highs and lows the cats have seen during my tenure. Matty and Rradrum, I hope you guys are having a great retirement from the position and enjoying the easy life a good bit. Russ, you are doing a kickass job in the position so far and I am so happy to see where you and Ck lead the team in the future. I am thankful to the four of you so much. I know I was not the best earner in the world, but I have appreciated the way you guys have kept me a part of your team regardless. It has been an adventure and you never know how this last season will go. #3 all-time in PDs and #1 in franchise history isn't so bad. I would love to see Rickie's jersey potentially hanging in the rafters, but I am not nearly qualified, educated, or knowledgeable about football or Sabercats history in order to make a decision on the issue. Regardless, I love you guys and I love this team. Go Sabercats!
In addition to the folks I mentioned above, there are a few more I would really like to shout out for the days before I ever became a Sabercat. @J0EB @Blasoon You guys really brought me into this league when I was just a wee Seawolve getting into his first seasons. I remember those days in Norfolk so fondly. It was so fun being a part of that locker room that you guys built. It was so much fun. I know things are very different now, and I know I havent actually had the chance to talk to you guys in probably 8-9 seasons or so. However, I want you guys to know you made an impact on me greatly to the point where I do not know what I would be doing in this league if not for you guys. I don't know where you guys are today, but I hope you are enjoying life and feeling good about everything you did while GMs of the Seawolves. I also want to briefly shout out @bex. I am sure you get a thousand pings in retirement posts like this. For that, I apologize for being the thousand and first. However, I just wanted to thank you for telling me this league even exists in the first place. I am so thankful for your guidance in my early days as a part of the Seawolves. Thank you for everything you have done not only for me but for the entire league as well.
There are too many to thank for my time here. In the fear of a William Henry Harrison situation, I will try to wrap this up before it gets too long. However, i do want to send a few final shout-outs of thanks for my time here in the league. @Dagumpa I love you man. You know that. Not only in this league but in all the others too. You are an awesome dude. I still think about all the fun we had on the various Supertardis and Dagumpa podcasts. Those were the best. @Asked Madden You have always been such an awesome leader and personality in the Sabercats LR. I appreciate all the kindness you have -shown me as well as so many other Sabercats to have walked the halls of that locker room.
This league has been invaluable for me over the past 18 months of my life. It has always been a place where I could chill and have fun outside the stresse of responsibility in other leagues. I am so appreciative of everything this league has given me during my time here. I hope everyone here has a great today, fun tomorrow, and a blessed future. As for me, I am probably not going to recreate. This is a decision based mostly on me trying to cut internet and discord time way down in my life. I love this league, but it has been unhealthy for me to continue habits of too much internet usage that I gained during Covid. I am still going to be around. I am not planning on leaving any ISFL servers for the foreseeable future, so if you ever wanna shoot the crap then my DMs are open. As for Rickie, he is planning to settle into a quiet life outside the public eye. He has always dreamed of finding a bit Victorian House by a big lake somewhere and just kind of living the rest of his days there. He is currently house searching and planning to build if he cannot find exactly what he wants. He is also planning to work with some charity groups he has gotten to know over the years. He wants to make sure the next generation loves, appreciates, and gains knowledge of the great sport of football. He wants to work at various non-profits that seek to aid those in poverty who have not had the advantages he has appreciated in life. He is planning to keep a home in San Jose as well. He does not want to lose contact with his teammates and coaches that he has come to love so much. Who knows, he would not be opposed to potentially working with the organization again someday. His plans are pretty varied, but he is happy where he is in life and wants to keep it that way.
I want to think everyone for coming today and reading my formal announcement. It has an absolute pleasure and an honor to play sim league football with you all for the past nearly 2 years of my life. Good luck, good tidings, and godspeed to you all.
