Task 10: Pilot RedSun was not born so much as he fell out of the sky. On the hottest day of that decade, Pilot was found swaddled in a basket in front of the Enfield Tennis Academy’s doors. Hal Incandenza, one of the premier players of the school at the time, brought him inside to the school administration, who, with no information on the origins of this child, began to raise him as a tennis player from birth. After the discovery of plane wreckage in the surrounding forest of the Academy, along with the appearance of reporters, it was concluded that Pilot was in a plane flying overhead on that hot day, in myth-made-real Icarus situation, the intense heat of the day began to melt parts of the plane, causing pieces of it to break off until it tragically crashed. Before the crash however, a hole melted in the bottom which Pilot fell through and miraculously sped towards the ground and landed without any damage. This may be shocking, but he was swaddled very well. Thus the name Pilot RedSun, with the first name referring to the plane and the last name referring to the way the sun was popularly described on that dreadful day. As Pilot grew and was trained in the ways of the racket and felt ball, he did not necessarily seem to display the same skills as the other students of the academy. While the others focused on higher technique and strategy, Pilot focused more on strength and endurance. For others, tennis was chess in motion, but for Pilot it was a game of endurance, a war of attrition. He found difficulty placing the ball in corners or hitting it was a certain spin, so he eventually stopped trying. Instead, he simply used his deft lateral movement and strong swing to keep the ball annoyingly in play and frustrating to deal with until his opponent beat themselves with errors. This only helped him to succeed to a certain point, and he hit his ceiling early, despite his freakish athletic talents. Word of mouth from tennis scouts to their scout friends brought football scouts over to Enfield, who then convinced Pilot to play football. Now, we witness what will become of his football career.
25: At this time in my life, I understand that I am not the earner I once was. Therefore, If offensive line was not available, I probably would have created as kicker. I frankly love that the ISFL offers positions that casual earners can comfortably play, specifically lineman. Kickers are great for this due to them having a low tpe ceiling as well as always having an impact on the field. You can keep track of your stats and watch how you do in streams, enjoying that side of the league easily. Offensive line brings it’s own joys though, which is why I went for it. If kicker was also unavailable, I probably would have done to the defensive line, most likely as a defensive tackle. Although I think there might be a bit more pressure for DT’s to earn, it’s definitely not close to some of the more popular positions, such as wide receiver or running back. If defensive tackle was ALSO unavailable, I probably would’ve tried to be a tight end, understanding that I’d most likely be a TE2 in the ISFL.
