Ever since starting in the league Zephyr has always wanted to be the best at one thing. Bringing pain to quarterbacks. In order to fuel his bloodlust, he found a likeminded ally to help push him to be better. This is the story of how one Turtle has push Zephyr to be the Linebacker that he is today.
Zephyr and Pasta the Turtle first met as prospect bowl opponents. At that time Zephyr was playing defensive tackle and Pasta was on the offensive line. They clashed head to head and had an immediate mutual respect. Unexpectedly they both moved into the Linebacker roll and while on different teams they were in the same conference. They decided to place a bet. Nothing major just bragging rights to the linebacker with the most points on the season. Zephyr never expected a turtle to be so good at sacking quarterbacks but it turned out to be a real contest. The points are calculated as follows:
1 tackle = 1 points
1 sack = 1 points
That basically it. We realized that sacks also count as a tackle, so we didn’t want to weight them too heavily. Maybe they should be worth more but what can I say we were young.
The scoring broke down pretty close for most of the season.
Week 1
Zephyr had 6 tackles and 2 sacks for 8 points Vs. the Kansas City Coyotes.
Pasta answered back with 6 tackles and 1 sack for 7 points Vs. the Minnesota Grey Ducks.
Week 2
Zephyr had 4 tackles and 1 sack for 5 points Vs. the Minnesota Grey Ducks. Bringing his total to 13 points.
Pasta had 7 tackles for 7 points Vs. the Kansas City Coyotes. Brining his total to 14 points
Zephyr never expected to be trailing already in week 2. After all how many tackles can a turtle really get.
Week 3
Zephyr had 2 tackles for 2 points Vs. the Tijuana Luchadores. Bring his total to 15 points. I know what you are thinking and yes this was a rough week for zephyr
Pasta meanwhile had 8 tackles for 8 points Vs. the Bondi Beach Buccaneers. Bringing his total to 22 points.
That’s right Zephyr trailed by 7 points after week 3. That was the motivation he needed to get his head back into the game.
Week 4
Zephyr had 5 tackles and 1 sack for 6 points Vs. the Bondi Beach Buccaneers. Brining his total to 21 points.
Pasta on the other hand had 4 tackles for 4 points Vs. the Tijuana Luchadores. Bringing his total to 26 points.
The gap was closing but not fast enough for Zephyrs liking.
Week 5
Zephyr had 5 tackles and 1 sack for 6 points Vs. the Norfolk Sea Wolves. Brining his total to 27 points.
Pasta answered back with 7 tackles for 7 points Vs. the Dallas Bird Dogs. Brining his total to 33 points.
The gap widened again but week 6 was a head to head week so both players were excited to see what happened.
Week 6
Week 6 did not disappoint
Zephyr had 9 tackles and 1 sack for 10 points Vs. the Portland Pythons. Bringing his total to 37 points.
Pasta had 7 tackles for 7 points Vs. the London Royals. Bringing his total to 40 points.
Halfway thought the season and its only a 3 point difference. The trash talk at this point was heating up. It even moved to social media with tweets firing back and forth.
Week 7
Zephyr had 5 tackles for 5 points Vs. the Dallas Bird Dogs. Brining his total to 42 points.
Pasta popped off with 7 tackles and 1 sack for 8 points Vs. the Norfolk Sea Wolves. Bringing his total to 48 points.
Week 8
Zephyr had 3 tackles for 3 points Vs. the Kansas City Coyotes. Brining his total up to a shameful 45 points.
Pasta didn’t miss a beat nailing 8 tackles and 2 sacks for 10 points Vs. the Minnesota Grey Ducks. Bringing his total up to 58 points.
Zephyr was in shock. He never expected to be losing let alone losing by double digits. He had to turn it around before it was too late.
Week 9
Zephyr had 7 tackles for 7 points Vs. the Minnesota Grey Ducks. Brining his total to 52 points.
Pasta had 5 tackles for 5 points Vs. the Kansas City Coyotes. Bringing his total to 63 points.
Week 10
Zephyr was tired of losing and put up 11 tackles for 11 points Vs. the Tijuana Luchadores. Bringing his total up to 63 points.
Pasta wasn’t about to be out done and put up 11 tackles and 1 sack for 12 points Vs. the Bondi Beach Buccaneers. Bringing his total up to 75 points.
Week 11
Zephyr had 8 tackles for 8 points Vs. the Bondi Beach Buccaneers. Bringing his total up to 71 points.
Pasta responded with 4 tackles and 1 sack for 5 points Vs. the Tijuana Luchadores. Bringing his total up to 80 points.
Zephyr got the gap back bellow 10 but the pressure was mounting. Only a few games left to make up the distance and pasta didn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
Week 12
Zephyr had 7 tackles for 7 points Vs. the Norfolk Sea Wolves. Brining his total up to 78 points.
Pasta had 7 tackles and 2 sacks for 9 points Vs. the Dallas Bird Dogs. Bringing his total up to 89 points.
Week 13 was once again a head to head week. This meant Zephyr would have to make it count if he wanted any chance of closing this gap.
Week 13
Zephyr had 9 tackles for 9 points Vs. the Portland Pythons. Bringing his total up to 87 points.
Pasta had 4 tackles and 1 sack for 5 points Vs. the London Royals. Bringing his total up to 94 points.
Zephyr knew a 7 point difference going into the last week was going to be almost impossible to beat. Even if pasta didn’t play the last week this would be tough.
Week 14
Zephyr had 6 tackles for 6 points Vs. the Dallas Bird Dogs. Bringing his final point total to 93 points.
Pasta had 6 tackles and 1 sack for 7 points vs. the Norfolk Sea Wolves. Brining his final point total to 101 points.
Zephyr was defeated. It was a hard fought battle but in the end Pasta was playing better that season than Zephyr. Both players were ready for the next seasons contest to see who was going to continue holding the title. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
As season 32 rolled around Pasta and Zephyr were drafted and called up to ISFL teams. Playing in the big leagues also meant some changes. Pasta was now a free safety while Zephyr was still a linebacker. We had to change our bet up a bit if we wanted to still brag about being better. The challenge, how do we compare a safety to a linebacker. We looked up what happened the previous season. we saw that free safety Hamish MacAndrew had 5 interceptions which was the stat Pasta was going for. Meanwhile linebacker Juan Domine had 20 sacks which was the stat Zephyr was going for. Rough math here says that sacks would be worth .25 points and interceptions would be worth 1 point. This seemed fair as free safety’s get sacks from time to time and linebackers get interceptions. How fair was it really. I will let you be the judge.
Week 1
The adjustment to the big leagues was hard on Zephyr. Moving away from his friends in London to be back in Canada was a shock to his system. I can’t think of other excuses right now but I will work more in don’t worry.
Zephyr was completely left of the defense sheet Vs. the Philadelphia Liberty. He had no real impact on the game and gained 0 points for a total of 0 points.
Pasta on the other hand found his groove quickly getting his first interception Vs. the Orange County Otters. Pasta starts the season out with 1 point.
The season is a little slower now that they are in the big leagues. Pasta and Zephyr go scoreless in week 2.
Week 3
While Zephyr has yet to find himself any points Pasta finds another interception Vs. the Chicago Butchers. Brining his point total up to 2 points.
Week 4
Zephyr found himself 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Colorado Yeti. Bringing his total up to .25 points.
Pasta was scoreless in week 4 Vs. the Philadelphia Liberty. His total remains at 2 points.
While week 5 was a head to head week neither player managed any points. Both players were disappointed to not make a statement in a head to head game.
Week 6
Zephyr had 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Chicago Butchers. Bringing his total up to .5 points.
Pasta had 1 interception for 1 point Vs. the Colorado Yeti. Brining his total up to 3 points.
Once again in week 7 both players went scoreless.
Week 8
Zephyr remained scoreless in a game Vs. the New Orleans Second Line. His total remains at .5 points
Pasta had 1 interception for 1 points Vs the Honolulu Hahalua. Bringing his total up to 4 points.
Now Zephyr starts to wonder how Pasta has 4 interceptions by week 8 when the best free safety last year only had 5 total. Zephyr hoped that meant Pasta was about to hit a cold streak. But it could also mean that Pasta is on fire this season and will run away with it.
Week 9
Zephyr has 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Orange County Otters. Brining his total up to .75 points.
Pasta has 1 interception for 1 point Vs. New Orleans Second Line. Bringing his total to 5 points.
Week 10
Zephyr has 1 sack for .25 points Vs the Chicago Butchers. Brining his total up to 1 point.
Pasta finally doesn’t have and interception Vs. the Colorado Yeti. He remains at 5 points
Both players are scoreless in week 11. By this point Zephyr already see some trouble in the scoring. Not enough point opportunities for both players. But also Zephyr needs to focus on his play more than worry about what should be and shouldn’t be points.
Week 12
Zephyr has 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Arizona Outlaws. Brining his total up to 1.25 points.
Pasta was scoreless Vs. the Chicago Butchers. His total remains at 5 points.
Both players are again scoreless in week 13
Week 14 was a head to head week where they were both eager to make something happen but again neither player was able to have an impact on the game.
Pasta was finally having the dry spell that Zephyr had hoped for but Zephyr couldn’t capitalize on it to score any points.
Week 15 is another cold scoreless week.
Week 16
Zephyr has 2 sacks and an interception for 1.5 points Vs. the Sarasota Sailfish. Bringing Zephyrs final point total to 2.75 points.
Pasta had 1 interception for 1 point Vs the New York Silverbacks. Brining his final point total to 6 points.
Another loss to a turtle. This one felt even worse because while Pasta had 6 interceptions, in a season where the highest was 7, Zephyr only had 7 sacks, when the highest was 20. Pasta won this season for sure and not just because he had a great season but because Zephyr had such a bad one. This was a rethink your career season and Zephyr had to spend his offseason focusing on what he really wanted out of the league.
Season 33 was Zephyrs time to shine. He was feeling good and ready to stop this losing streak. Points are the same as last season because both players were too lazy to change anything.
Week 1
While Zephyr had 11 tackles Vs. the Orange County Otters he didn’t have any sacks. Zephyr starts scoreless.
Luckily pasta also starts scoreless so we have a 0-0 start to the season.
Week 2
Zephyr still didn’t find any sacks Vs. the Berlin Fire Salamander. He remains scoreless on the season so far.
Pasta has 1 interception for 1 point Vs. the Colorado Yeti. Pasta strikes first blood and now leads with 1 point.
Week 3 both players are scoreless so Pasta still leads 1-0
Week 4 is another scoreless week but next week is a head to head match so both players are doing their best to prepare for it.
Week 5
Zephyr has 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Baltimore Hawks. Bringing his total up to .25 points.
Pasta was not able to gain any points Vs. the Yellow Knife Wraiths. He remains at 1 point.
Both players are again scoreless in week 6. While both players are getting a lot done of the field none of it is being scored for points in their bet.
Week 7
Zephyr has 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Colorado Yeti. Brining his total up to .5 points.
Pasta doesn’t find any points Vs. the Berlin Fire Salamanders. He remains at 1 point
Week 8
Zephyr has 1 interception for 1 point Vs. the New York Silverbacks. Brining his total up to 1.5 points.
Pasta was not able to find any points Vs. the New Orleans Second Line. He remains at 1 point.
Just like that Zephyr takes the lead. His focus is paying off and he intends to keep himself out in front this season.
Both players were scoreless in weeks 9, 10, 11, and 12.
Week 13
Zephyr remains scoreless Vs. the Colorado Yeti. He remains at 1.5 points
Pasta has 1 interception for 1 point Vs. the Chicago Butchers. Brining his total up to 2 points.
Pasta has retakes the lead with only 3 games left to play.
Week 14 is a head to head week. However as seen many times neither player is able to find points in this matchup.
Weeks 15 and 16 go scoreless for both players. What seemed to be such a promising season ended with a loss to Pasta again 2-1.5. A much closer contest than last season but still a loss. Zephyr see Pasta go on to win the Ulitmus this season. Pasta keeps getting the best of him, but Zephyr isn’t ready to quiet yet.
Season 34 is upon us and Zephyr is once again going to try and prove that he is better than a turtle. He is concerned at the growing number of turtles in the league with at least 2 more playing this season than last.
Either way points are the same and you know the rules. Lets get it started
The first 3 weeks are slow with no scoring by either player. However that changes in week 4
Week 4
Zephyr had 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Chicago Butchers. Zephyr strikes first blood and take the lead with .25 points.
Pasta is still not able to find points Vs. the Philadelphia Liberty. He remains at 0 points.
Week 5 is a head to head week and like most head to head weeks both players are scoreless. The teams seem to play extra hard when they meet up because everyone knows what is at stake. Bragging rights.
The cold streak continues as no players score in week 6 either.
Week 7
Zephyr has 1 Interception for 1 point Vs. the Colorado Yeti. Brining his total up to 1.25 points.
Pasta has still yet to score Vs. the Berlin Fire Salamanders. He remains at 0 points.
Neither player scores in week 8
Week 9
Zephyr is unable to find any points Vs. the New Orleans Second Line. He remains at 1.25 points.
Pasta gets his first interception for 1 point Vs. the Orange County Otters. Brining his point total up to 1 point.
The gap is closing but Zephyr still holds a thin lead.
Week 10
Zephyr is unable to score any points Vs. the Philadelphia Liberty. He remains at 1.25 points.
Pasta had 1 interception for 1 point Vs. the Sarasota Sailfish. Brining his total up to 2 points.
Pasta has swiftly taken the lead. Zephyr needs to react quickly if he wants to take it back.
Week 11
Zephyr isn’t able to pick up any points Vs. the Berlin Fire Salamanders. He remains at 1.25 points
Pasta has 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Colorado Yeti. Brining his total up to 2.25 points.

Week 15
Zephyr had 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Chicago Butchers. Brining his total up to 2 points.
Pasta was not able to score Vs. the Philadelphia Liberty. He remains at 2.25 points.
Pasta has a .25 or one sack lead going into the last game of the season.
It all comes down to this
Week 16
Zephyr has 1 sack for .25 points Vs. the Honolulu Hahalua. Brining his total up to 2.25 points.
Pasta is unable to find any points Vs. the Berlin Fire Salamanders. His total remains at 2.25 points.
It’s a tie?
We haven’t had a tie before and don’t really have a backup plan for it. So at the end of season 34 Zephyr and Pasta tie. No one gets to brag. Hopefully next season is different. Its been an interesting road so far and I want to thank Pasta the Turtle @visceralpotamus for being my sim friend and rival. That doesn’t mean I am going to go easy on you next season. Sacks are still Zephyrs best friend at the end of the day.
