Hey everyone it has certainly been awhile since I have done a media piece but I really wanted to talk about my player Tugg Speedman with another season under his belt (his second in regression). When I finally decided to create in the ISFL I really struggled to know what I wanted to make my player position-wise or how I should build my player. When I finally settled on a wide receiver I did not really know what I was doing but I got help from some great people that helped me prioritize what I needed to focus on while still giving me the freedom to build my player how I wanted. I ended up being the last pick in the second round for the DSFL Draft which was still pretty exciting and I landed right where I wanted to be - London. I had two pretty great seasons with the London Royals and was a part of one of the most incredible locker rooms I have ever been a part of. When the ISFL Draft happened, I was slightly shocked I fell to the last pick of the first round but damn did it make me excited to go out and be the best receiver of the draft. Also a chance to shame @Crunk for not drafting me. After the draft I was pretty damn eager to get the call to San Jose but had to wait a bit. Unfortunately my time with the Sabercats was short but I appreciate the guidance I did get while there and the fact that they let me leave via trade after requesting one. For those that may not recall or weren't around yet, San Jose had a pretty stacked offense and as someone who wanted to do their best to put up stats and make the Hall of Fame - I didn't feel like I could wait until I was the next man up. I didn't have a bad rookie season I suppose but it certainly wasn't a great first step towards a Hall of Fame career. So the following season at the trade deadline, I got traded to my home New York. My time here has been nothing short of incredible to say the least and no I'm not done yet. If I stopped now I don't think I would have done enough to reach my ultimate goal of being enshrined in the ISFL. I still have some gas in the tank and I'm ready to go a couple more seasons. I can now say that I'm the best receiver in New York Silverback history passing the great Jackson Kingston in all categories except for receiving yards average - he will always have that on me. I am grateful for the time I got to play next to him but also grateful that he ended up deciding to go to Sarasota so we both could shine as number one guys. I have been fortunate enough to win two Ultimus' with my New York teammates - something that I can't begin to put into words really because we defied odds in both of those seasons and it's not easy to win a championship here especially twice. With that said, I feel like I have done just about everything except hit some major statistical milestones in my career. As I previously mentioned I currently lead the three major receiving categories for New York:
Receptions: 661 (1st)
Yards: 8,692 (1st)
Touchdowns: 52 (1st)
Here is a breakdown of New York Top Ten List for those categories:
However, I still have unfinished business with the all-time receiving leaderboard. I have accepted I probably won't ever pass someone like Kai Sakura as they are just an absolute legend of the game and had arguably the greatest career of any wide receiver. I can only do my best to go through regression as well as they did. I am not really sure what my target numbers need to be to get inducted into the Hall of Fame. I certainly think I have a couple things going for me but I really need to have a couple more productive seasons. I can't say I will be able to play beyond two more seasons and if that's the case then so be it. Right now this is where I rank amongst my peers all-time in the three major receiving categories:
Receptions: 757 (t-14th)
Yards: 9,916 (30th)
Touchdowns: 56 (t-42nd)
Now, I know that yards and touchdowns don't look promising however I'm not too far off moving up a lot of spots due to the number of individuals with just a couple hundred yards or handful of touchdowns more than me. I also acknowledge some people ahead of me are still active in the league but hear me out. If I can manage 150 receptions over the next two years that will place me at number 6 all-time in receptions. If I manage to hit 1,850 yards that will place me number 8 all-time. Lastly, lets say I can manage 15 touchdowns in 2 seasons - that would place me tied for 20th all-time. I think with these potential numbers mixed with a Wide Receiver of the Year award, 2 Ultimus', and a Returner of the Year - possibly a second one this season (honestly don't know if this would have an impact) I feel like these awards certainly help my cause. I'm not really sure of my Pro Bowl numbers at the time of writing this or if they really mean anything but I know I have a couple.
All in all, I feel like I have had a pretty notable career that isn't quite finished and I really look forward to my last couple of seasons with my New York Silverback teammates. I don't know if I will be able to play beyond 2 more seasons but if it's possible and I can help them as a role player then maybe I can extend it to 3 seasons and really push for more stats and another Ultimus if i'm lucky. So this is obviously now a retirement post but i'm inching nearer to that point with every catch, every yard, every win, and every loss. I could not have gotten to this point without a lot of people: namely my General Managers in New York @zaynzk and @TheRocheLimit. Thank you for trading for me all those seasons ago - I'm beyond grateful. And to my two Quarterbacks @Trautner and @MN_Moosey - thanks for throwing the ball to me so much. I love you lol. Lastly, I always felt like I was chasing @Tylus and @Daybe as a wide receiver. I enjoyed being your teammates, even for a short while. You set an expectation for me as a receiver.
Okay enough rambling and appreciations - season nine for Tugg Speedman starts soon.
