Not a lot of words but a solid amount of effort went into this mock draft.
I kind of want to preface this whole thing with a quick disclaimer. I am a new user who has absolutely no experience in sim leagues, so please take these with a grain of salt. I started using the DFSL draft primer that @br0_0ker created, verified information by looking into each players update thread (and estimating their current TPE), and then looked at the Index to determine team needs as best as I could (which was challenging because it hasn't been updated for a minute, so determining who was actually on the team/who was picked up off waivers, etc was tedious). As a novice, I'm also still learning how to value positional, TPE, social, and scarcity considerations. I'll do a small blurb about the first round selections but following that I will only be doing small synopsis in the "By Team" section. I look forward to discussing these selections with anyone in the comments.
1.01 - OL J.T. Kurbis @JoshiePoo
"Norfolk had a bad time last season on both sides of the ball. For a team that’s tagline is “Norfolk Best Folk”, it seems ironic that they delivered the leagues worst offense and defense by points. With only 2(?) true linemen on the roster, it seems smart to take one first overall as the value of a stud lineman cannot be overstated."
1.02 - QB Roque Santa Cruz @Air Crou
"The Royals are staring at the possibility of their franchise quarterback Shinomiya leaving for the ISFL, leaving a starting spot open."
1.03 - WR Octavio Perez @Raven
"Perez is the 1a at WR in this draft class and it is no secret that the Buccaneers are in dire need of a talented pass catcher."
1.04 - DT Xavier Valorian @XaveValor
"With the 4th overall pick, the best defensive lineman in the draft falls to the Pythons. Fast and strong, look for Valorian to be an immediate impact player."
1.05 - WR Austin Morley @soevil
"Kansas City gets their guy with with 5th pick by selecting the promising rookie slot receiver."
1.06 - WR Mandrews McHollywood @Rusfan
"Many might see this selection as a reach, however with a big need at WR the Luchadores go after the last great receiver in the draft."
1.07 - CB Graham Harper @PurpleReign
"The Grey Ducks decide to take the best available player with this pick and it happens to be the stud Corner Graham Harper."
1.08 - RB Leandre Diarra @slate
"Absolutely a premium pick for the defending champion Birddogs, but the RB has some rapport with the locker room already and could come in as an instant starter as 2/3 of the current RB room may step up into the ISFL."
2.01 - OL Orlando Doom @Bunny
2.02 - LB Kevin McThumper @Chucky
2.03 - DT Charles Chapman @Charple
2.04 - DE Jean-Ralphio Saperstein @Fordhammer
2.05 - S Ju’uan Holland @Friesen1520
2.06 - TE Mister Hogmally @iStegosauruz
2.07 - DT Joseph Reed @Reedy0rNot
2.08 - S Teemo Swift @Repgnar
3.01 - WR Thomas Robinson @infern8
3.02 - OL Pete Zah @seal
3.03 - OL Dennis Rodman @PBS
3.04 - CB Suggs Upshar II @Suggs
3.05 - DE Mike Scott @Pizza-faith
3.06 - DE J.R. Frankestero @Punk42AE
3.07 - LB Fred Edison @Liter
3.08 - TE Reece Wells II @josda_
By Team:
Norfolk Seawolves
The Seawolves have a lot of holes to fill after such an abysmal season. Opening up some cap space by drafting back to back OL will help build up a new foundation while a later WR may fill in for the potential losses of Salem and Kemp.
1.01 - OL J.T. Kurbis
2.01 - OL Orlando Doom
3.01 - WR Thomas Robinson
London Royals
It doesn't appear that the Royals have a ton of huge needs, so after filling the potential QB hole (which may not even happen, and would throw this whole mock into the trash probably), they go after best available.
1.02 - QB Roque Santa Cruz
2.02 - LB Kevin McThumper
3.02 - OL Pete Zah
Bondi Beach Buccaneers
The Buccaneers have clear holes at the WR and DT position, and address both of them within the first two rounds. It is hard to pass up an offensive lineman that is available in the 3rd round, so they take the opportunity to bolster their front.
1.03 - WR Octavio Perez
2.03 - DT Charles Chapman
3.03 - OL Dennis Rodman
Portland Pythons
Taking a shot at two defensive linement in the first two rounds, the pythons get absolute steals with perhaps the best two defensive linemen in the draft.
1.04 - DT Xavier Valorian
2.04 - DE Jean-Ralphio Saperstein
3.04 - CB Suggs Upshar II
Kansas City Coyotes
KCC attacks both sides of the ball in the first three rounds by selecting the 1b WR of this draft followed by the best available players in the subsequent rounds.
1.05 - WR Austin Morley
2.05 - S Ju’uan Holland
3.05 - DE Mike Scott
Tijuana Luchadores
The Luchadores are in dire need of reliable pass catchers, which is why they go with one the best available receiver followed by the best pass catching tight end of the draft.
1.06 - WR Mandrews McHollywood
2.06 - TE Mister Hogmally
3.06 - DE J.R. Frankestero
Minnesota Grey Ducks
Despite having a solid defense, the Grey Ducks go after three defensive players, one at each level of the field. Look for all three of these players to become instant starters for the Minnesota defense.
1.07 - CB Graham Harper
2.07 - DT Joseph Reed
3.07 - LB Fred Edison
Dallas Birddogs
The Champs have a great opportunity to take a series of luxury picks, acquiring steals in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
1.08 - RB Leandre Diarra
2.08 - S Teemo Swift
3.08 - TE Reece Wells II
