This post is going to be a combination of things. Mainly, talking about Raske as he enters his twilight years and what I'm planning to do next. This'll be a fairly rant-y post, but it will contain some useful information for GMs for whenever I re-enter the draft. Maybe 2 seasons from now or something.
Honestly, I felt like I ran out of gas pretty quickly with Raske. Between being a pity pickup by Minnesota, to being rated as the worst of the recreates at QB and switching to safety so I could actually see the field, I lost true interest pretty fast. I understand why it all happened, and I hold no grudges, but it also made him a pretty boring player to follow. Sure, I won DPoTY, but that was arguably a massive fluke because Moose ended up winning MVP in a pretty contentious decision by the GMs and HO.
Objectively, he's been successful, but I feel like I haven't had the same impact. Hard to explain and it honestly doesn't make sense, but that's just what I think. I could have definitely done better with him, some seriously inconsistent earning outside of my DSFL seasons really hampered me on that respect, but I also wasn't expecting to be on a completely new career path. Especially now, consider I've been full time since the beginning of April. Great for me in real life, not so much for the sim leagues side of things, especially with me restarting in the PBE as a relatively successful relief pitcher. So with Raske finally hitting regression, I don't think I'll end up fighting it too much. I'll do some point tasks, but stuff like equipment and training is out of reach for me right now. I'm sure Dewalt won't be too happy learning about this in a random article but whateva, man.
So I guess that leaves me looking at the future. What's next? Well, I'm not sure if I'll enter the draft immediately after retiring, might take a season off to recharge my batteries and get into tip-top shape mentally. Because for my next player, I'm gonna do my damndest to go all out, earn as much as I can and stick around for as long as I can.
What does that look like? Well, I'm planning to be very flexible. Do you need me at offensive line? Sure thing man, I'm ready to go. Want me at kicker for some reason? Yeah dude, gonna have the biggest leg you've ever seen. I'm not sure what position I'm going to start as, I haven't looked at the new position change numbers to see what is the best, but I'll do that whenever I get around to making my new player. Name wise, Dewalt controls my destiny there (monkaS), and he hasn't given me any indications as to what he wants yet, so god help me.
Demands wise, I'm pretty loose. I'm planning to make a lot of media during that season break so I can build up enough capital for a couple seasons of max earning, so money is not an issue. My only demand, to any and all teams thinking about drafting me in the future, I require my own channel in discord and I also require a special role, named Sommelier. If those demands cannot be met, I will be looking for a team that can satisfy these needs (half-joking here).
I also have a couple of requests regarding the draft. Firstly, I would like to not be drafted by the Grey Ducks. I love yall, you know that, but I also want a new experience in the DSFL. It's been two players with the same team, I just want something different for the third go-around.
In a similar vein, I'd like to go to any team besides Arizona, Baltimore, Berlin and Yellowknife. Same principle here, though I honestly didn't play much in either Arizona or Baltimore. I definitely wouldn't jump ship immediate if any of these teams drafted me at either level, I'm not that serious about it, but I want a new environment with new people I haven't had much of a chance to interact with. Obviously teams change, the Yellowknife of S35 is very different to the Yellowknife of S24, but let's try something different this time round.
That's pretty much everything I could think of. I'm hoping to be a 1st rounder in both drafts, whenever I jump back into the fray, but that's far from guaranteed. I'm willing to work for it, though, and I'm willing to adapt to my teams needs.
If you've actually read this far, why? If you did, thanks, and I hope it provided some small amount of entertainment or future knowledge.
