SHAZAM! with Shazam Hefner: Jack McPherson @WildfireMicro
SH: Hello, you lovely ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the second episode of Shazam with Preston “Shazam” Hefner. The last episode with Derrick Prince saw rave reviews, so the network decided to trust me and go for another couple. Our guest today is a great one to have - Norfolk Seawolves LB, Jack McPherson. Jack, great to have you with us.
JM: What's up man, it is great to be here. I hope you don't mind, but I brought some chicken wings from my folks restaurant up in Kentucky.
SH: Damn, I’m cool with that. I’m actually starving myself, so I wouldn’t mind taking a leg or something.
JM: Go right ahead! A lot of this 280 pounds or so is built on chicken wings.
SH: Sheesh, 280? Alright, I see you. Alright, so I got a couple questions. First one: before this interview went live, you were talking about your time as a Florida Gator. What was it like there?
JM: It was great! The Swamp loved me, and I was a kicker and a linebacker at the same time.
SH: Shit, that’s two entirely different positions! How did you manage balancing them both?
JM: Well, I started out as a kicker in high school before hitting my growth spurt. It was then that my high school coach put me at linebacker as well. I picked Florida because they wanted me to be both. But honestly my dad was disappointed that I didn't go to Louisville like I originally planned, but he supported me either way.
SH: So, this ties into another question; we all saw how you tore it up in Florida. If you had the chance now, would you have gone for Louisville?
JM: Hmmm, I’m honestly not sure. I think the Florida scheme helped me grow, so I don't regret it.
SH: Alright, that’s respectable. Next question: we all saw the slide you had during the ISFL draft. Mind telling us your thoughts right now?
JM: I was disappointed back then, but now I understand that people did not get much time to watch me in the DSFL and there were times I could have played better. I am planning on proving people wrong with Yellowknife, however.
SH: Completely understandable. Now - if Yellowknife didn’t draft you, what team would you have wanted to join?
JM: I'd rather keep that to myself honestly. All that matters is getting Yellowknife to victory.
SH: That’s the whole truth. I have a couple more questions for you - what do you want to say to the league? You’ve got a pedestal, so I’m gonna let you use it for a bit.
JM: Honestly just a few things. Tell all the quarterbacks not a part of Yellowknife that the sack that will come to them from me is nothing personal. Also go eat at McPherson Chicken Wings in Fairdale Kentucky!
SH: Alright, some bold words coming from Money McPherson, I love it! Okay, final question before we wrap things up - if you could be any animal, what would you be?
JM: Probably a big bear, like a big polar bear. Those are the most mean. Well polar bear on the field, Panda bear off it. Before we go, I actually got the nickname Batman in college because I used to stay up late a lot.
SH: Well, that does it! Thank you so much for coming out here to do this interview, and thanks for the chicken too! This shit is godly!
JM: Man, you might need a drink for some of the Buffalo.
SH: I do! Which is why today's episode is sponsored by Car Crash Brewery! Car Crash Brewery - wreck your thirst!
JM: Give me some of that bourbon. And before you ask mom, I'm only having a small drink.
SH: Yeah, Mrs. McPherson! Again, thank you so much for coming out here to record this episode. We’ll see you fellas again for another fantastic episode of Shazam.
[Editors note: half the payout should go towards Wildfire.]
