Man, I can't believe that S34 has proceeded so rapidly to the point that we are already about to enter S35! As a former member of the Dallas Birddogs, this past season was nothing short of a legendary season for multiple reasons as not only we made the playoffs as a false under .500 team that played closer to a 8-6 team, but we also managed to win our second title in franchise history and be the second in league history to win as an under .500 team in the Ultimini! I would like to thank @ReverendOReily , @zaynzk , and the entire organization for drafting me and lending me the opportunity to not only develop as a player but to also contribute to such a historic season. I wish you all well in future seasons
As I, Solace Avenger, transition into the ISFL, I gleefully proceed to my mentor's old stomping grounds, the New Orleans Second Line! I am ecstatic to officially join this organization as I was able to compete with them before I was officially drafted! As I take in the opportunity of playing with this team, I notice that a couple of Ranger's old teammates are still with team since the last time I joined with the team, Ranger's legendary DE partner, Medicinal Tolberone, aka @JuOSu, and DT, Lebong Simwell! I noticed that the team upgraded and picked up a few pieces through free agency and through the draft this past season and through call ups as well; let us introduce each player and dive into what each new addition in addition to pointing specific players progression shall we?
To begin with, let us focus on my fellow draftee, Ganyu aka @GlimsTC! Named after a certain prominent character in a certain game, Ganyu is a steady tackler and elite coverage presence going back to our days of competition against each other in the DSFL. Throughout his time in the DSFL, Ganyu has steadily improved his all around skillset and kept building up his skills until this past offseason. This past offseason going into S35, Ganyu invested heavily into his strength, greatly improved his tackling, improved his speed, improved his hand-eye coordination, increased his endurance, and hyped up his competitive spirit. The offseason had the great effect of maxing out his strength, tackling, and his hand-eye coordination, making him already an above-average LB in terms of coverage and disrupting the passing lanes. I hope that he will become the Luke Kuechly of our defense for seasons to come!
Moving on, let's focus on my other fellow draftee, Chim Rickles! Chim is also a fellow defensive player and also is a great tackler and even better in coverage on the deep end of the defense! Throughout his time in the DSFL, Rickles mostly played as a defensive end but realized that he had the potential to be a great free safety so he made the switch and it seems to have started to unlock his potential as a defensive player. Going into this past offseason of S35, Rickles swapped from DE to SS so it did take a bit of time away from his potential training to retrain him as a SS, but he was able to learn the position of SS quickly enough so as to make up for lost time. He invested into agility, intelligence, and boosted his endurance. The boosts to these areas in his game have had the added effect of making him not only a good tackler but even a greater coverage player! I hope that he will become our Jevon Holland and be a part of our defense for seasons to come!
Moving on, let's focus now on the veterans on this team who are still in their prime! The first of these players is The Stig! When I first came to NOLA as a temporary defensive player, I noticed that The Stig was a rookie RB on the team. When I saw him in action, however, I did not expect him to be such a great player and to already play beyond his status as a rookie! Ever since I last saw him, Stig has progressed to becoming an all around back and more diverse in his effective. Instead of becoming a bruising back, Stig reinvented his style and became more of a receiving back, making him more effective and extending his career! Going into the S35 offseason, Stig was already an established back in the league; however, he still was able to improve further! Stig already had become an elite athlete, but he further improved his catching and became more of a scatback and he greatly improved his strength so that he can more easily break tackles and get more YAC. With these boosts to his game, Stig has certainly established himself as not only our lead back for years to come but also as one of the elite backs in this league. With his versatility, I hope that he will become our Christian McCaffery for seasons to come!
Let's focus on another of the veterans on this team who are still in their prime! The second of these players is Amari Springer! When I first came to NOLA as a temporary defensive player, I noticed that Springer was already an established safety on the team. When I saw him in action, I quickly saw why he was such a valued member and key piece to this NOLA team. Ever since I last saw him, Springer has progressed to becoming one of the top 10 safeties in this league and the numbers back this up entirely as in his time with NOLA, Springer has amassed no less than 65 tackles per season, 3 sacks per season, 3 Pass Deflection per season, has amassed 4 forced fumbles and 2 recovered fumbles, and has amassed 4 total interceptions so far in his career. These numbers tell the story of one of the best tacklers and coverage guys in the league over the past few seasons. I am glad that I get the opportunity to play with such an elite defensive player. With that being said, Springer has taken this past offseason to improve even further despite being such an elite defensive player. He maxed out his agility and further increased his already high endurance so that he can not only be able to stay on the field longer but also be able to further keep up with the offensive players he has to cover week after week. I hope that Springer continues to be a great safety and be our Honey Badger for as he stays in NOLA!
Let's focus on another of the veterans on this team who are still in their prime! The third of these players is Doc Fireball! When I first came to NOLA as a temporary defensive player, I noticed that Fireball was already an established DE on the team. When I saw him in action, I quickly saw why he was such a valued member and key piece to this NOLA team like his teammate Springer. Ever since I last saw him, Fireball has progressed to becoming one of the top front 7 players in this league and the numbers back this up entirely as in his first season with NOLA, Fireball accrued 64 tackles, 7 TFLs, 1 FF, 1 FR, 12 Sacks, 2 PDs, and 1 Safety, showing his potential from as early as his rookie season. Between his second season and this upcoming season, however, Fireball changed his position to Linebacker to utilize his insane potential that he displayed in his rookie season. As a result, it has taken some time for him to readjust, but he is getting into the thick of things and coming along nicely as seen during the offseason. He boosted his intelligence, his hand-eye coordination, and boosted his tackling so that he can become more of an all-around defensive monster. I hope that Fireball continues to improve and becomes our Von Miller in this defense for seasons to come!
Let us now finally focus on the prize of free agency, the legendary Jason Garciaparra. Jason was a former member of the Chicago Butchers for the past 3 seasons before ultimately winning an Ultimus with them this past season. After the win, Jason was highly coveted as a DE as he could do it all! In his 5 seasons with the Butchers, Jason amassed 127 tackles, 19 TFLs, 3 FF, 3 FR, 31 Sacks, and 1 Safety, making him a highly sought after piece in free agency. To our great happiness, he decided to sign with us and bolster a young and upcoming defensive unit to hopefully make us one of the most elite defensives in the league. I am extremely glad that he signed with us as he is a great friend to my mentor Ranger and would have great banter with him after each game despite being on different teams!
Finally, after previewing the key pieces and upgrades to this team, I wanted to focus on what I was able to do during my offseason as I transitioned from the Birddogs to NOLA. In my 2 seasons with Dallas, I managed to help the team win their second championship in franchise history. After that momentous occasion, I went to work upgrading my skillset in order to become even more of a defensive monster that I already am. This offseason, I boosted my strength, agility, intelligence, tackling, endurance, and competitive spirit. Looking at the work that I did, I believe that I made myself into an all around disruptive force that will continue to wreck shit in the ISFL. I hope that I not only stay with NOLA for seasons to come as their Aaron Donald but also surpass my mentor and finally help bring not only a DPOY for myself but also bring a championship to NOLA as the fans and team has so very long waited for it. Let's get right to it!
