This was a project born out of curiosity. I had no ulterior motive to use this for personal gain, but when just the slightest whisper of "2x media" pirouettes through the air, all reason and morality go out the window. As the word around these parts goes, "TPE talks," and who would not want to bolster their bank account in order to acquire that massive +30?
So now that I have that introductory paragraph to pad my word count (grader, plz don't dock me), here is what I did: I made a chart. That's it. That's the project. The chart isn't fancy like Swanty's or dreamSloth's. It does not even have any color. Like I said, it was just something I made for myself as a reference.
Have you ever wondered how much TPE you need to completely max out your player of X archetype who plays at Y position? I am talking about maximum attributes and all traits purchased. Well, I did, and I put together this:
(Click here to go to the actual Sheet)
I have heard talks that K/P is the "low effort" position. Well, evidently, K/P requires more TPE to reach their maximum potential than most quarterbacks do! In fact, at 1240 TPE, only the Field General — who is also at 1240 — can compare! Moreover, 23 out of 36 archetypes either match the Field General at 1240 or exceed that altogether. That's 63.9% of the field! So who is "low effort" now, Mr. Quarterback?
Now, if you want to put up your feet and cruise in this league, K/P is not the direction you want to take. Instead, feast your eyes on this bad boy: the Return Specialist. The Return Specialist archetype requires the least investment to maximize its abilities, needing only a measly 1165 TPE (zero disrespect to Hordle). The Return Specialist is that rebellious high school kid who sits at the back of the class laughing and shooting spitballs at you while you spend time being suckered in to this "2x media" propaganda.
If you really want to show the users here that you are the maxiest earner of all max earners, however, you shove it in their face by choosing the Speed Back. They top the list at a sweaty 1395 TPE. One of my very trusted sources told me that a max earner can accrue around 180 TPE per season. By the math, that would mean you would max out in 7.75 seasons. By the scarier math, that means you will hit your max, then immediately lose it to regression (can I get a "F--- HO!"?).
Back to the K/P vs. QB comparison. I know, you are going to tell me that K/P only shows up on the field for like 4% of the plays, so they don't have to max earn. I say nein! How many times have you exhaled forcefully through your nose when K/P misses a PAT? How many times have you sat back in your chair and uttered an expletive when K/P misses a field goal? How many times have you gone to that K/P's updates page and punched air when you saw "+2 AC. +5 WT. Banked TPE: 7." That's right. Now you wish they earned more, don't you?
So the point is... actually, there is no point. Again, this was just for personal reference, and I am writing this for money. Heck, you do not even need to max out your player on paper for your player to be effective on the field. Players win honors during regression. They win honors during their climb to the top. You can invest as much or as little time into this league as you want. You can play the game the way you want to. At the end of it all, HAVE FUN.
