I took a look at the results of the S37 draft when it was over. So, how did those players (and my evaluations) pan out during the season?
(All "nth in class in TPE" stats as of the September 17th update)
Arizona Outlaws
Picks:
* R2P11/25OA - RB Danny Nedelko - remained in the DSFL this season, currently tied for 4th in the class for TPE. Probably not going to take over for Cue Jr. in S38 but I could see S32 RB Riggins getting released/traded to make room for a callup.
* R3P11/39OA - WR Mickey Lauvin - retired at 71 TPE. Looked like a flyer at the time of the draft and seems to have not panned out. I'm sure the playoff-bound Outlaws will be crying in their sleep tonight.
Austin Copperheads
Picks:
* R1P4/4OA - QB Delores Bickerman - did in fact get called up after a position switch to WR and managing 6th in TPE. Austin's had a rough year on its way to the first overall S38 draft pick, but it's not due to lack of passing volume. All 3 WRs on the team have over 1200 receiving yards and 100 receptions and I don't think you can expect much more out of a rookie.
* R2P4/18OA - OL Brandon Mason - remained in the DSFL this season, 16th in TPE. I'd expect Mason to get called up next year as a better option than the inactive S34 Jenkins. Not sure if the team's bot/cap plans might prevent that, but seems like an upgrade on paper at least. 16th overall earning from the 18th overall pick seems fine, too.
* R3P4/32OA - K/P Cade York Jr. Jr. - remained in the DSFL, 34th in TPE. Hasn't updated since August 13th, but was around later. Might still be relevant for the team as regression sets in for S29 Leroy, but seems like this pick didn't hit the upside the GMs were hoping for yet.
Baltimore Hawks
Picks:
* R1P5/5OA - QB Preston Beatz - remained in the DSFL (at QB), 15th in TPE. Beatz had a huge post-draft update but only 1 TPE since. Given the DSFL cap and that DarknessRising has been on the site, this might be a "didn't bother" move rather than a "gone inactive" one. I'm sure that the team is aware of the situation, but it might get awkward for the Hawks if the user is inactive and the team was planning on Beatz for their QB of the future.
* R3P5/33OA - CB Wae Traynes - remained in the DSFL, 24th in TPE. Had a good update for the offseason, but only claimed 4 TPE since then. 24th in TPE isn't terrible for a pick this late, and S28 CB Mahi'ai can't beat regression for too much longer so still a decent value here.
* R3P6/34OA - DE D'Sqarius Green V - remained in the DSFL, 28th in TPE. Hasn't updated since the draft, but might be relevant at some point at 177 TPE. Didn't exactly pan out, but a low investment.
* R4P5/47OA - K/P Jackson Cannon - retired at 57 TPE. As one of the last picks, I can't hate the outcome even if I'm sure everyone on the team was hoping for more.
Berlin Fire Salamanders
Picks:
* R1P1/1OA - LB Charlie Thorsen - called up though position switched to cornerback, presumably due to their next pick also being for (and staying at) LB. First in the class in TPE, first in the draft, can't ask for much more, right? The Berlin defense improved hugely in S37 over S36 and while Thorsen doesn't have eye-catching stats I assume the overall CB depth has helped with the team's improvement. Now, the team just needs to bump its offense up and then they'll be seriously competitive.
* R1P10/10OA - LB Jordan Hartline - called up, 8th in TPE. The third member of what's shaping up to be a really fierce LB corps in a season or three, looks like another successful and important pick for the team's defense. With Thorsen swapping to CB that does answer the one question of "did you really need 2 first round LBs?" too.
* R2P1/15OA - K/P Known Acquaintance - called up, 18th in TPE. TPE earning is slightly earning the draft slot, but the team really does need a kicker. Having a bit of a rough year for FGs, but looks like that's in large part due to being called on to kick a bunch of longer attempts. Seems like a fine pick.
* R3P1/29OA - DE Thwomp - remained in the DSFL, 30th in TPE. The low risk didn't pan out as a steal, though honestly I could see Thwomp getting called up due to the team's two DEs that are getting further in regression next year. If Thwomp does make the team (or prove to be a useful trade chip), then I could see this actually being a solid pick even with the inactivity.
* R3P8/36OA - RB Aaron Ford - remained in the DSFL, 38th in TPE. Not inactive but only earning at a low rate. Can't complain about a player taken this late that is at least returning to the site, though I figure the team isn't expecting Ford to be the RB of the future. Also, I think the team might want to try and help out with update posts since I see there's been some issues.
* R4P1/43OA - CB Bacarri Rambo - remained in the DSFL, 40th in TPE. Hasn't updated and hasn't been back to the site for over a month, so an unexpected last round outcome.
Chicago Butchers
Picks:
* R2P3/17OA - DE Stryker Brown - remained in the DSFL, 21st in TPE. Slightly underperforming the draft pick, but Brown's still consistently earning. Not sure when it'll make sense for the team to call Brown up unless they're planning on moving to a 4-3 defense (looks like they're 3-3 nickel with the current personnel). I'd say this seems probably like an underperforming pick given their positional needs, but if the user is amazing in the team's locker room or something then that could mitigate the lower TPE numbers. Or at least at some point regression is going to hit other players and they'll need a DE eventually.
* R2P5/19OA - QB Brock Landers Jr. - remained in the DSFL, 18th in TPE (with at least some unclaimed). At the DSFL cap so not bothering to update isn't shocking. I don't know if Landers Jr. is going to get called up next year or if they'll be getting 1 last year out of Oles Jr.. but does definitely seems like the QB of the future and a solid pick at the 19th pick.
* R2P13/27OA - RB Blibby Shpoopy - remained in the DSFL, 36th in TPE. Hasn't updated or been seen since mid-August, so seems like at best the "lack of time" issue hasn't gotten resolved yet and at worst the user is gone forever. Since there was a personal connection to the user there's at least some promise for a return, but I think I would call this a miss at this point.
Colorado Yeti
Picks:
* R1P3/3OA - QB Grayson Yates - remained in the DSFL, 10th in TPE. Stayed with QB for this year as of September 22, so I'm not sure on the details on what Yates will be doing next year. Yates would be roughly the fourth highest TPE on defense for the team next year, but there are definitely openings all over the team. If I was placing a bet I'd lean CB given the pair of S25 players they have at the position now, but LB or S could also make sense. More realistically, I'm guessing they'll discuss after the draft is over and the team knows what other options are in play. Arguably slightly underperforming the draft slot, but I doubt the team is feeling bad about it if the user is still flexible when it comes to taking on a position switch in the future.
* R1P8/8OA - S Inspector Gadget - remained in the DSFL, 22nd in TPE. From a pure TPE earning perspective this is definitely an underperforming pick (especially with no updates on September 10th or 17th), but if all the team's statements on the user are still holding up then I assume they're still satisfied and I wouldn't be shocked if we see Gadget in the ISFL next year.
* R1P12/12OA - WR Rocky Moreaux - called up, T-2 in TPE. Earning super well, this looks like a trade that does exactly what the team wanted when they made it. Moreaux has progressed to be the 3rd-highest TPE WR on the team through the season, though the team's overall depth on offense has led to less flashy stats than leaner teams. Still, seems like pretty much the best case outcome for the team's plans.
* R3P3/31OA - WR JarDarius Jones - remained in the DSFL, 35th in TPE. Slightly underperformed TPE earning, but overperformed what I think anyone expects out of a 50 TPE player. Low enough TPE that I don't know how soon we might see Jones actually called up, but not a terrible decision.
* R4P3/45OA - S Dalibor Dvorsky - remained in the DSFL, 39th in TPE. Hasn't updated since before the draft, though was seen in mid August. At this point probably not coming back, but can't hate on the late pick.
Honolulu Hahalua
Picks:
* R1P11/11OA - QB Nova Montagne - remained in the DSFL, T-2 in TPE. Seems like exactly what you're expecting from the situation. Current QB Zaylren announced plans for the expected retirement and recreated at safety already. I'm not sure if that means that Montagne or The Ghost Of Zaylrens Past will be the actual QB for the Hahalua next year but I'm sure the team has a plan.
* R2P2/16OA - LB Monty Ward - remained in the DSFL, 19th in TPE. Hasn't earned as much TPE since the draft as some others in the class but might be a lazy updater. With all LBs currently on the team already in regression (S26/28/30) I could see Ward getting called up even if not max earning, honestly. Seems like a fine pick though maybe a little bit of a miss if the TPE earning doesn't keep up.
* R3P2/30OA - QB Adrian St. Christmas - remained in the DSFL, 7th in TPE. Can't complain about TPE value, but this feels like a pick you can only really judge much later on given the user explicitly planning to be a free agent and not stick with teams. I'm really interested in seeing how we'll look back on this pick in 5 seasons, but to be fair there weren't a ton of great picks left at this point.
* R4P4/46OA - RB Dobromil Dvorak - retired at 82 TPE. Not unexpected, but not really a waste of a pick either.
New Orleans Second Line
Picks:
* R1P6/6OA - CB Jason Oexius - remained in the DSFL, 13th in TPE. Hasn't claimed TPE since August 27th which is potentially reasonable for a capped DSFL player. More concerning, however, is that the user hasn't been seen on the site since September 4th. Oexius is still at a higher TPE than NOLA's third CB and so might get called up next season, but if this is true inactivity then the pick has to feel rough for a team working to rejuvenate their defense.
* R2P6/20OA - CB Adam Rage - remained in the DSFL, T-25th in TPE. Has updated in September and has been seen recently on the site, but a lower TPE total might keep Rage in the DSFL next year if Rage doesn't bother to claim the last couple weeks of TPE. I could also see the NOLA leadership trying to get the user up to earning closer to max with the incentive of getting called up? Or maybe just an incentive to actually post updates more often, anyway.
* R2P14/28OA - S Deckerd Deshaw - remained in the DSFL, 29th in TPE. Does seem to be around and doing TPE tasks, but just not claiming them in recent weeks. I'd call this pick looking fine overall, though seeing multiple NOLA draftees keeping under 200 TPE while not posting claims for earned TPE is some sort of misunderstood attempt to sign at the 500k/year price on a future contract?
* R3P14/42OA - TE Cardorino Tarotino - retired at 82 TPE. Guess the user never came back. Oh well.
* R4P6/48OA - WR Damien Chambers - retired at 50 TPE. Even less of a surprise at even less of a cost than Tarotino, but definitely not as good at the naming game as NOLA's third rounder.
New York Silverbacks
Picks:
* R1P2/2OA - WR Matthew Mara - remained in the DSFL, T-4th in TPE. Effectively at the top of the class (4 TPE behind first), Mara's looking like pretty much exactly how you want your second overall pick to look. I'll be keeping the willingness to position switch in mind in the offseason as I think the Silverbacks have a lot of directions they could go with personnel for S38, but I could see Mara being a direct replacement over retiring S26 WR Speedman to keep QB Savage stocked with pass catchers.
* R1P7/7OA - DE Bay Webb - remained in the DSFL, 12th in TPE. A little behind the top TPE earners of the class, but I'd still expect Webb to be called up as a replacement for S25 DE Toblerone next year. I can see an argument that TPE earning has slightly underperformed draft slot, but Webb's still the top DE of the class so I'd be satisfied with this pick as the New York leadership.
* R1P14/14OA - RB Michael Touchback - remained in the DSFL, 20th in TPE. Touchback's been earning consistently but at a non-max rate. Seems like a definite callup option to replace one of S28 Prince or S33 Groves. I think there's an argument that given the trade to get Touchback that this doesn't feel great, but given the players left in the third round I'm not hating it.
* R3P7/35OA - K/P Paddy MacGuinness - remained in the DSFL, 37th in TPE. Did update after the draft but not in September and hasn't been back to the site since the 8th. I'd expect the team to consider this a miss if MacGuinness doesn't return and for the team to stick with S34 Cole III for kicking duties.
* R4P2/44OA - WR Orion Jasper - retired at 100 TPE. The team had hopes to see the user back but apparently those failed. Hardly cost anything, though, so seems fine.
Orange County Otters
Picks:
* R3P12/40OA - DE Larry Fisherman - retired at 50 TPE. There technically were players left who haven't retired yet and thus who were arguably better selections, but I'm betting the GMs don't really care.
* R4P7/49OA - RB Tyler Orator - retired at 50 TPE. With 2 players remaining at the other also having not returned, basically no winning options. Certainly can't complain about this pick not panning out for the team.
Philadelphia Liberty
Picks:
* R2P7/21OA - CB Tingis Pingis - remained in the DSFL, 11th in TPE. Seems to have not bothered with an update for September 17th, but I'm not too worried about the GM as the GM (or, alternatively, I'm very very worried because I've been kidnapped or something). I'd expect to see a big end of season/before next season update and a callup for next year, though it might be interesting to see if Pingis ends up swapping positions or not.
* R2P8/22OA - LB Gribbuh Fister - remained in the DSFL, 27th in TPE. No updates since the draft and no posts since August 28th worry me a lot at first glance, but Fister has been back to the site recently. Probably not the best pick in full hindsight, but I'm sure the team is trying to get that the trend upward.
* R4P8/50OA - WR Toby Hays - remained in the DSFL, 41st in TPE. Dodged automatic retirement, but hasn't been back to the site so I wouldn't hold my breath on Hays mattering for the Liberty. As literally the last pick, though, I have no complains with the team's pick here.
Sarasota Sailfish
Picks:
* R1P13/13OA - WR Dip Dhillon - remained in the DSFL, 9th in TPE. I don't know if Dhillon will get called up next season as a replacement for the retiring S28 WR Spence or swap positions (I'd speculate LB or CB), but I'd expect to be seeing this player in the ISFL next year. Seems like a great pick who has done exactly what the team wanted.
* R2P12/26OA - OL Yummy HotDogPie - remained in the DSFL, 31st in TPE. Did get a 46 TPE update in to kick off S37 and still returning to the site to post, but the lower TPE seems a little unfortunate. Still, as the only remaining OL, I guess I don't hate this as a positional match, but with the current rate of TPE earning I don't know when it will make sense for the team to make the call to bring HotDogPie up.
* R3P13/41OA - WR Duke Smith - remained in the DSFL, T-43 in TPE. While Smith is one of the 4 50 TPE S37 players to not get retired, I'm guessing the team's not expecting a sudden return to the site and becoming active. Not getting retired already is slightly more impressive than many other late picks, though, so I'll call this more decent than I would have thought at the time of the draft.
San Jose Sabercats
Picks:
* R2P10/24OA - WR Luther Vox - remained in the DSFL, 32nd in TPE. Hasn't updated or been onto the site since mid-August, so it's looking to me like Vox has likely been lost to the mists of the inactivity forest. There still could be some chance the team can cajole Vox into returning but outside of that possibility this pick feels like a miss.
* P3P10/38OA - WR Cornelius King III - remained in the DSFL, T-25th in TPE. The hopes of activity and earning have panned out so far with King keeping up site activity. Seems like a great pick this late and I could see some chance of a callup next year if the team can't play retiring S28 WR Man and if the team doesn't find a more compelling FA option.
Yellowknife Wraiths
Picks:
* R1P9/9OA - OL Dusty Wilson - remained in the DSFL, 14th in TPE. Has kept up earning and remained the top TPE OL in the class, though slipped a little relative to Mason. Still, Yellowknife had only 1 human OL in S37 so I'd expect to see Wilson in the ISFL next year. Solid pick that I'd expect to help the team.
* R2P9/23OA - S Ryan Murray - remained in the DSFL, 23rd in TPE. With a perfect overall-pick to overall-TPE match, this seems like a perfectly solid pick. Murray has kept up earning steadily in the season, so my only concern is positional need. The Wraiths have a really solid secondary already, so I could see them trying to make a trade to a team that has more of a need or maybe working for a position swap.
* R3P9/37OA - CB Vader Page - retired at 68 TPE. Didn't work out, as expected. There were later picks that have panned out so maybe the team regrets their decisions, but I don't think many drafters were holding out hope for the second half of the third round being amazing.

* R4P3/45OA - S Dalibor Dvorsky - remained in the DSFL, 39th in TPE. Hasn't updated since before the draft, though was seen in mid August. At this point probably not coming back, but can't hate on the late pick.
Honolulu Hahalua
