Introduction
Welcome one, welcome all to another cross sim league charity event! It is always an honor to work with our wider community to bring an important cause to the forefront and work together to provide support. We’ve been able to do some miraculous things in the past and I can’t wait to see what we do now! As a side note, this is my third charity drive I am in charge of and am very happy to do so once again and keep doing such great things for the world as a close-knit community. Participating in this charity event, there are four sim leagues that are running events over the upcoming weeks. Those leagues are the PBE, ISFL, SCFSL, and EFL. Below are links to their sites/Discord where you can check their announcements to see what charity events are going on.PBE

Who Are We Supporting?
On February 24th of this year Russia invaded Ukraine, further escalating the conflict between the two countries started in 2014 with the Ukrainian Revolution. For the past 7 months now, we have seen photos and videos of the war raging on but with this charity event we want to focus on the people who have been most affected. The result of this war is Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II, affecting millions of families. It’s estimated that around 8 million people had been displaced within Ukraine by late May and nearly that same amount have fled the country as of October.
This charity event we will be supporting the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and more specifically, we are highlighting their work happening in Ukraine. UNICEF works all across the world “to ensure that every child is healthy, educated, protected, and respected”. With the current crisis occurring in Ukraine, UNICEF has increased their capacity in delivering aid to hundreds of thousands of children that have been affected. Children, specifically, are the least responsible for current events and yet they are made to suffer the most from its consequences. Now, more than ever, the children and families impacted by war need our support.

FURTHERMOREGiven the timing of our charity event, in addition to supporting UNICEF through our donate page we have agreed to also allow users the option to donate towards a Hurricane Ian relief fund. Given our focus on supporting children in need, we’ve decided to promote a Hurricane Ian relief fund from Save The Children.
Hurricane Ian completely decimated parts of Florida, especially Fort Myers Beach and Naples. Hurricane Ian is now the deadliest hurricane in the continental United States since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Over 101 people have been announced as dead due to Hurricane Ian, with over 60% of the deaths caused by drowning. This unexpected tragedy will have many families misplaced and thousands of folks in Charlotte County, Florida will be without electricity for months due to one of the electrical substations there being completely submerged underwater.

As a result, individuals will have free freedom of choice on where they wish to donate to. How and where to donate to each charity will be done in a separate post in a day or two time just to keep it cleaner and easier to access at a moments notice.
How does the Charity Drive Work?
Like all past seasons, users will be able to submit items to be milestones, perks or auctions that users can buy/bid on with donations to charity. When we reach certain thresholds of money raised a league, milestones with rewards will be enacted. Previous seasons, milestones have included users doing funny and embarrassing things on video like putting peanut butter all over their face (looking at you infi) whilst perks and auctions can be individual ideas, done by a group of friends, team or a department. Below I will link previous charity drive spreadsheets to give you examples and inspiration as to what you may want to put up yourself. If you have an idea or are unsure and want to talk about any potential idea for a auction, perk or milestone, preferably message me on discord (DarknessRising#6537) or message me on forums or even reply to this thread to get my attention (a ping will help that).

That is it for now, be on the lookout for the creation of the S38 Charity section ( Announcements > Head Office Announcements > Charity Drives) that will be the hub for all things of this drive, including sections for the auctions and perks, the home of the charity spreadsheet, the instructions and guides on how to donate and any other updates from me. Any questions can always be asked to me, or any other members who has been around for a while, as the drive follows the same system they may also be able to help you quickly.
Timeline
The charity drive will last for 2 weeks, commencing Monday the 24th of October, where auctions and perks will be opened up for bidding/purchasing respectively. This means they will end on Monday the 7th of November, so don't risk out on losing out on some cool opportunities and importantly doing good for the league.
What I should be doing right now?
With this timeline, it means there is about a week to build a comprehensive list of items to auction/sell. The more items, the more likely a person will be interested in something and raises more money as a league. Come 24th of October, ideas can still be sent and added, for likely about a week to allow enough time for auctions and perks to be available to everyone who wants to wait and see if anything more interesting pops up.
I hope everyone gets in the giving mood, whether that be with items, kindness or engagement. Of course donations are welcomed but not everyone has the ability to and there is absolutely no need to, so ensure you donate only if are able to afford to.
