I entered S38 with no player. My last payer Sam the Onion Man retired the season before. I took a short needed break from sim leagues for my personal mental wellness as real life events were stressing me out. With the passing of the trade deadline i have recreated, welcome Alex Armstrong. Alex is a Defensive End and has already been claimed off waivers by kansas city. Alex hopes that his addition to the coyotes will help the team reach and win the S38 ultimini. Winning the ultimini is an accomplishment that i have not had the enjoyment to complete yet. My first player made the ultimini but was done in by a Forrest Gump TD run. My second player, Sam, was on a sunkin Norfolk team and was 3rd WR on the depth chart. Here’s to hoping this is the start of great things for Alex. Thank you Coyotes for asking Alex to help with your Ulimini run.
I honestly didn't expect much at all out of RAINN this season. In fact during scouting before the season I made it very clear to any prospective GMs that RAINN mostly existed as a blank entity to me and I didn't care about stats or playing time or anything like that. Despite that after a chaotic series of events RAINN ended up in Dallas who just happened to need a QB because their QB was going inactive and changing positions. RAINN went from a player I had no expectations for to suddenly being a starter for a team that could compete for a playoff spot if RAINN didn't hold them back. Fortunately outside of a particular bad week before I'd invested his TPE, he hasn't. He's a top four QB at the moment and seems to be improving week to week. He mostly needs to improve on his accuracy and limit turnovers to finish the season and I think he'll exceed my wildest dreams for the season.
With the creation of my third ISFL player after JD Boom and Buffalo Hunter, I set low expectations for the aptly named Bridge Burner. After a seemingly endless amount of teams played for, with exits due to several reasons, sometimes mutual, I knew it would be an uphill struggle to be selected in the first round of the draft. A couple of GM's would have scratched my name out pre-draft and some others didn't scout, so there was only a few likely teams that would even entertain the idea of adding me to their team this time around.
Ultimately, the bravest of these teams was the Baltimore Hawks who waited until Round 2, 21st overall to select Burner and give me a shot at redemption in the ISFL. Even the Hawks Locker Room had commentary about myself as a user, so they are to be commended for selecting my player despite the general consensus. I fully intend to repay the faith shown in me by Baltimore, by doing whatever is necessary as both a user and player to show them that they spent that pick wisely. Buffalo Hunter turned out OK - Bridge Burner will be even better. Code: 196
My expectations coming into this season with Ken Oath were not particularly high, having reached his first season of regression and with up and coming rookies/younger players looking to receive a higher share of targets I knew that he was going to see a substantial drop-off from last season. As expected, Ken's target share took a serious dip, and while still being a solid contributor to the team I felt as though his career had reached a natural stopping point. So now we have Plant Based instead, and my expectations for him this season are also low! Coming in to the class at the end of the S39 creation window means he's already missed most of the season anyway. I am still hoping he can make a late impact on the Python's season despite heading towards an almost certain lack of playoffs, and that we will see him return back the next season as a star of the DSFL.
Melvin's expectations are as big as he is. He needs to be the best. He will be the best. His stats will be as large as his appetite. He will be the most highly compensated. He will be in the Hall of Fame. His jersey will be retired before he is. He will party the most anyone has ever partied. His entourage will put boxers and rappers to shame. His play will be legendary. His trash talk will be legendary. If he meets an opponent he cannot beat, he will kill them... in his mind as he puts his blood sweat and tears into improvement and "creative" solutions (don't think about it). He never played football before, but he feels greatness in his bones... the same bones on those delicious chicken wings he completely housed 2 hours ago along with that burger, 12 hot dogs, fries, pack of cookies and 2 drinks. When is his first paycheck? He is already hungry again.
Written option Wrote:With the end of another regular season approaching, there’s always a lot to unpack. Both players and GMs alike enter each season with expectations and hopes for the kind of results they want to see, but how often do we end up achieving these results? For this PT, talk about your expectations for your player and/or team coming into this season and how it compares to what really occurred this season. Did you and your team overachieve? Underachieve? Go the way you thought they would? Let us know! I was honestly expecting this season to be a fairly transitional one as the Copperheads moved to a new starting QB and our newer drafted players started really hitting their strides when it came to TPE and effectiveness. So, to have the record we do (and in particular to have started out there season so we'll) is drastically outperforming my expectations for the season. We definitely dropped off a bit, but to have a solid shot at making the playoffs for a season I had personally thought could be another 5-11 or so result is pretty great. As for my player, I spent the last off-season training up my competitiveness with a hope that it would help with generating turnovers when I'm covering the opposing team's top receiver. That hasn't led to an absurd record-breaking year or anything, but I did have a couple clutch plays that I'd like to think are due to that training. As a cornerback, I think some of the most important things I can do to help shift game outcome are producing turnovers. The fundamentals of making tackles and keeping up with speed receiver are important too so as to not allow huge plays against us, but the energy produced for both the team and the fans for turnovers is just super fun. So far, and going into the final 2 games of the regular season, i think things are going pretty much according to plan. Coming out of an Ultimus win, the Arizona Outlaws already clinched the ASFC and the playoff wildcard bye, courtesy of an incredible 12 - 2 record that will also give them the regular season win, as no team in the NSFC will be able to get more than 11 wins. While the sim in the ISFL likes to throw some curve balls, i do not think it is a big surprise to see the Outlaws doing so well, as that has been very common for at least 10 to 12 seasons.
As for the 3 time Most Valuable Player Jay Cue Jr., apparently he is declining heavily. While not having a bad season by any means, he ranks 4th in the league in rushing yards and tied for 6th in rushing touchdowns. Very far from another mvp season, that is for sure. (164 words) |
