Season 38 is approaching. The Sarasota Sailfish are coming off of a second straight Ultimus appearance. Yeah, appearance, not championship. Back to back losses on the big game can sting, so it wasn’t a surprise that the S39 Sarasota Sailfish came into the season feeling like they had some unfinished business that they needed to handle once and for all. The new season saw some old faces head off to retirement or different teams while some new faces made their way onto the roster on both sides of the ball. With some fresh new talent, the Sailfish were ready to make a splash. The season started off perfectly with a road win against Yellowknife, but quickly spiraled out of control from there. The highflying Sailfish offense was racking up the points, but often found themselves with small leads or even trailing late in games due to some inopportune turnovers, penalties, poor game management, uncharacteristic misses by the most skilled kicker in the game, or other generally extremely improbable event and the opposing team was nearly perfect in capitalizing on those mistakes. This would all combine to the Sailfish stumbling their way to an underwhelming 7-9 record and likely the title of most disappointing team of S38.
