After Honolulu's humiliating defeat at home where their star receiver logged 0 catches on 6 targets, Leek Mai-Heinous had this to say:
"Yeah, I mean, they just got a couple really good guys in the second level over there in New York, they did a really good job at predicting when I was going to be targeted. Like, there were a couple times when I was wide open and just didn't get the look, but it was almost like New York was zoned in on our play calling.
I've been watching this other league, the United Football League or something and there's this guy Matt Canada for the Stillers I think they're called, man, his play calling is so predictable, it's just run-run-pass-punt, run-run-pass-punt, like, there's not variation at all. And I think we're falling into the same trap - like look at the stats man. Bean almost rushed as many times as Nova threw the ball, that's just no way to get it done when we have a tiny lead in the opening quarter. We get too conservative man, like, coach expects the defense to be a brick wall when we got some junior college level guys starting for us. Of course New York was going to come back, have you seen their offense? Stacked. Their defense is leagues better than ours too. So when we get out to a lead like that man, we can't just let off the gas we gotta floor it. And last night we just let 'em pass us going 50 in the fast lane..."
At this point LMH turned away from reporters and headed toward the showers. We were not able to obtain further comment.
Honolulu is next scheduled to play at New Orleans, who are coming off a disappointing week 3 loss of their own.
