Hello everyone!
I wanted to make a couple of announcements regarding the current state of Dotts, and some potential plans in the works for the future as the new head of Dotts!
As you all know, we rolled out dottstradingcards.com 2.0 this year, and were able to improve the user interface (as well as back end ease of use) quite a bit! All of this is courtesy of @”Caltroit_Red_Flames”, who worked incredibly hard to make this happen.
Some features of the new site rollout aren’t completely finished yet, we do plan on having the trophy room and trading functions restored eventually in a future update. So be on the lookout for those!
Card Creation Team
Additionally, we’ve been looking to hire anyone that is willing to help us make cards. Because of the lull in between site creation, plenty of sets have fallen behind in seasons. We’ve been doing our absolute best to catch up on these and have made some significant progress with the Captains set and Rookie Autograph sets so far. If you are interested in joining the Dotts team, please let me know! Payouts are based strictly on cards created (1,000,000 per non-base set card, 500,000 per base set card). So there is no seasonal salary for a Dotts Card Creation job.
Potential New Sets and Discontinuation of Current Sets
Obviously with Dotts, we get plenty of ideas for new card sets and new ideas. The only problem with each new set idea, is finding somebody willing to keep up with each new set each season (I personally have already fallen behind with my own stupid LVP card concept lol). To keep things fresh and exciting for people to work on, we may be taking a community and staff consensus survey in order to find out what cards the public wants most, and what cards the staff want to work on most. This may require the discontinuation of current sets that simply aren’t kept up with enough, in favor of new sets that people enjoy maintaining. Keep an eye out for a potential announcement with a poll in the near future to help us determine what sets you want to see from us!
Current Specialty Series In Rotation:
-Awards
-Captains
-Charity
-Rookie Autograph
-Ultimus Champion
-Hall of Fame
-LVP
Possible New Series:
-Dotts Field Cards, showcasing the ISFL color rush fields from each season
If you have any ideas for new sets, please submit your concept cards to me, and we can include them in our poll to determine what sets we’d like to move forward with!
Possible New Pack Types:
There may potentially be new types of packs in the future beyond the normal “Regular” and “Ultimus” variants.
-Collector’s Packs
-We’ve been considering high-value packs that can be used as prizes for events, charity auctions, etc. These packs would be 100% non-base-set cards. Meaning you are guaranteed 6 specialty series cards with each pack. These would not be available for standard purchase
-Hall of Fame Packs
-In a similar vein, these packs would be MOSTLY normal, but would guarantee you at least 1 Hall of Fame card per pack (the rarest series Dotts has). Once again, these would likely be for events, rather than available for standard purchase.
Changes to Base Card System
Our last change is kind of our biggest one. With every season comes dozens of new players entering the ISFL, and dozens of players needing their base cards updated. Because of the sheer volume of players that are in need of base cards, we’ve decided we’d like to swap to a new system for base cards. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
Going forward, we will be removing the tiered base card system
Once we get a new border created, all base cards will be done using the same border, there will be no more tiers based on TPE peaks. Once the new border is implemented, previous tiered base cards will be gradually phased out of rotation.
All previous tiered cards will still be kept in inventories, so you obviously will not lose anything you’ve already pulled. In addition, all players that have yet to receive any form of base card will still have their cards created using the new base format.
We understand that there may be some frustration for those who may not receive the properly tiered base cards that their players earned, but we believe this change will be important for keeping our card creators engaged and enjoying card creation. The current tiered system is quite tedious to maintain in its current state, and we feel this solution will solve many problems for card creators.
So with that, I conclude my State-of-the-Dotts address! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me!
