"Ready to Grade"
Dub Redd here hailing from Barry Sanders University, officially declaring for the S40 DSFL draft. Who is Dub "The Club" Redd? Well some say he's the best Ex-Quarterback turned Defensive Tackle in the history of Springdale High School football. After setting numerous State records for a High School Freshman Quarterback, Dub suffered a career ending injury to his throwing hand earning him the nickname "The Club". As Dub put it, "If you can't join them, might as well beat em".
Dub switched positions to Defensive Tackle In his sophomore year of high school and became a prolific pass rush specialist with a knack for getting to the quarterback over the next three years before being recruited to Barry Sanders University(formerly known as Oklahoma State University). At BSU Dub would go on to make All-Big 12 in his Senior year totaling 10.5 sacks and over 200 quarterback "Scared Stiffs"(a stat not tracked by official statisticians).
Dub is ready to do the dirty work clogging up the middle, and staring down the quarterback for any team that'll have him.
@Thor
Q: What do you credit most for your successful position change to from QB to DT, given it seems one of the hardest positional transitions to make?
A: Well I mostly attribute it happening at a young age. I hit a major growth spurt at about age 15 when I suffered the initial hand injury. That along with a meat rich diet and an abundance of sugary caffeinated drinks helped me put on about 80 pounds in the course of a year. By the time I was cleared to play the coaches would only have me at O or D Line, so I made the best of it.
Q: Are there any particular teams in the DSFL or ISFL that catch your eye?
A: The Arizona Outlaws stuck out naturally as their mascot shares a relation to that of "Pistol Pete" the Oklahoma State University mascot! But really I'd be happy to play for any team. I've got a soft spot for underdog teams and would love to be part of a turn around.
Q: What do you bring to the team, both on and off the field?
On the field I'm a tough as they get, and I've got competitive stamina that just doesn't stop! However, off the field is where I've felt I can make the most impact for the team. I see myself as a constant locker room presence with a positive attitude. I'm always there for my teammates pushing them to be the best they can be.
@dude_man
Q: What’s your favorite difference so far from this league and Goal Line Blitz?
The limitation to a single Player per User immediately stood out to me as a positive. Seems to me that helps embolden Player identity and User to User teammate interaction(i.e. there's no team that is dominated by a single User).
Q: Rank these in order: Pancakes, waffles, french toast
1. Pancakes(given that they're not being dealt out by an Offensive Lineman)
2. Waffles: I'm a big supporter of my local Waffle House.
3. French Toast: Not bad by any means, but something had to be ranked third.
@negs
Q: What’s your favorite chain restaurant?
I'll callback to the previous question for my answer here. Doesn't get better than a well staffed Waffle House. My goto order is a Double Hash-brown smother and covered, an Egg & Cheese Biscuit, and a Fruit-punch High-C for my beverage.
Q: What powers do you have as a wizard
I'm only a mere yellow robe, so my powers are quite limited. However, I've been known to tip luck in my favor at games of chance, and I posses a near magical ability to coax cats.
@Twenty6
Q: Do you still have an arm? I would love to see someone try to sack you.
Oh yeah brother! I still have an arm, it's hand dexterity that I'm lacking. I can throw that ball further than most quarterbacks, but it might not arrive at the intended spot. Is there a stat for the quarterback sacking a defensive player? Pretty sure they'd have to invent that one if someone tried to sack me.
Q: Do you model your game after any particular DTs?
I'd say my greatest influence is the late and great Alex Karras who played long before my time. Aside from being a ferocious player who hated quarterbacks, Alex Karras was also a professional actor in the offseason! He used that to his advantage by taking on personas that would strike fear into the opposing offense. Psychological warfare!
Q: Would you rather have one sack or two TFLs, and why?
I always say two TFLs now is worth three sacks later, so I'd go with the TFLs. Any great defense has to start by stopping the run. It forces the offense into sure pass situations, and that's when us defensive lineman can really pin our ears back and get to the quarterback.
Well folks I've been up at this podium for about a week, and all the free sports drinks from our sponsor Gatorade are starting to get to me. I'm gonna call it here and go use the Commode. If you have any more questions feel free to message me directly on here or discord. Thanks!
