Welcome to the S41 Offseason edition of the ISFL newsletter! Season 40 is all wrapped up and we’re in the midst of a jam-packed offseason program to tide us over until S41 kicks off next week!
SEASON 40
Congratulations to the Arizona Outlaws for yet another dominant season culminating in their 3rd Ultimus win in 4 seasons! And big congratulations also to the Bondi Beach Buccaneers who bested the Portland Pythons 24-21 in the Ultimini! The ISFL and DSFL awards were all dished out earlier this week, so big congrats to anyone who took home trophies after last night’s ceremony, which you can watch back here.
ISFL HEAD OFFICE CHANGES
Thank you to everyone who applied for ISFL intern this time around. We ended up with some very strong applications and we ultimately ended up deciding to hire two interns for the upcoming season. We’re delighted to welcome @Memento Mori and @Gadget to the team and looking forward to seeing what they can bring to the league!
DSFL HEAD OFFICE CHANGES
DSFL HO is pleased to announce the hiring of a user who is well-known and loved in the community: @Sebster! He will take the full time position recently vacated by @SnowyWolfz who left to be the GM of the Kansas City Coyotes. Although his tenure was unfortunately short-lived, Snowy was a valuable addition to the DSFL HO team; we thank him for the dedication and enthusiasm he brought each day! We will also be hiring at least one intern for S41, so please apply if you are interested.
PLAYER/UPDATE THREADS
It's no secret that getting used to the way you create, update and earn is not super intuitive for brand new users. One aspect of that is the requirement to create a second thread for your player to house updates. Not only is that an extra challenge for users on creation, it's also more work down the line for updaters / auditors / GMs who have to work with 2 threads per player instead of 1.
I'm happy to announce that we have a plan in place to move to a new system of just one thread per player, with a pencilled in date of 1st May to begin merging player and update threads together. The feasibility of doing this hinges on a new forum feature which enables moderators to lock certain posts for editing.
By using this new tool, RMs can disable editing of the initial player post while leaving the thread unlocked for updates to be posted there. As a user with an existing update thread, you won't have to take any action, but just be aware that if you have a hardcoded link to your update thread somewhere, like in your bookmarks, that thread will show up as 'deleted' once the merge has taken place. All your update posts will be moved to your player thread. We're expecting this merging exercise to take a couple of days for all rostered players but will keep you in the loop as the work progresses.
THE ISFL MERCH STORE
We are VERY VERY excited to announce that the ISFL Merch Store is now live! You can visit the website to order your favorite team’s apparel here: https://ISFL-Merch.redbubble.com. Unfortunately some teams were not able to be added to the store at this time, hopefully we can get those worked out before the next change window next offseason! Every purchase you make on the shop helps to keep the ISFL up and running instead of relying on donations from generous users.
A huge huge thank you to @Sebster who did pretty much all the leg work to make this happen. If you feel inclined, we would love to see the ISFL merchandise out in the world, so please do consider taking a picture of anything with your team branding and post it in the ISFL Discord server for all to see (And there is more stuff to buy than just blankets, don’t worry)!
That's all for this edition. If you have any questions, feel free to post below or reach out to a member of Head Office!
