Hello everyone! This is the sixth and final article in our S41 draft prospect analysis, a collaboration between @aeonsjenni and @wizard_literal. This article will cover the S41 defensive backs class. You can see the introduction to this series, which explains some of our analysis and research, HERE. The other articles in this series, ordered by positional groupings are:
Overall, I have to say that I'm thrilled with how this series ended up, and I'm really happy to have done it. When I set out to grade the entire class, my feeling was that there are a ton of great users who generally go under the radar, and my intention was to let people know that they are recognized, whether it be for fantastic media, or a podcast, or even something small like a creative player render or concept. I don't think I ever directly voiced this intention to wizard_literal when I approached him with the concept, so I'm really glad to say that I think we were on the same page about what we were writing for. I've only been around for a month and a half, but it's so good to be in a class with so much energy and enthusiasm. I don't think I'll ever attempt a series like this one again, co-written or not, but I don't regret doing this one. Thank you so much to wizard_literal again for putting so much effort into this article, I greatly appreciate it and none of this would be a fraction of the quality without your input. That's all I have, so please enjoy our breakdown of the S41 defensive backs class!
Defensive Backs
The defensive backs class is not especially large, with the cornerbacks and safeties combining to only match the linebackers class, but what they may lack in numbers they more than make up for in quality. We could not identify a single inactive player in the entirety of this group, and only one player was firmly identified as low-earning. The GM’s for San Jose, Yellowknife, and New Orleans will be looking for the top cornerbacks this draft, while Arizona, Chicago, Honolulu, New York, and Orange County will be filling in their need at safety.
Cornerbacks
Maximum-Earning
Ezra Azazel - @baz1757 -
Physical Corner
New-create, Media, Big Bank, League Job
“Luchadore Lockdown Legend Ezra Azazel is #1 in my heart and #1 on our Cornerback breakdown with an eye-popping 239 TPE at the time of this writing. Knowing Baz’s unfailing ability to earn TPE, I’m sure he’ll be at the 250 TPE cap before I’ve even finished writing this sentence. Baz is a post S39 trade deadline newcreate that’s given them the advantage in TPE for this class. But let me assure you, even if Baz created last week he’d still be the top Cornerback prospect on my list based on personality alone. Let me provide you some insight on what Baz is going to bring to your team. Completely unbiased Media articles that highlight and hype up his teammates. An already existing bankroll that will only be further boosted by the fact Baz already has a league job. On demand Cat pictures in the team locker room pet channel. And finally just a great overall personality.” - wizard_literal
“I think wizard_literal has already gone into a lot of detail as to why Baz should be considered at the top of a GM’s cornerback lists, but I’ll expand on that a little here, even if I make myself redundant. Baz has been nothing but kind in the time that I’ve interacted with him, and he’s also put out some of the most detailed media from anyone in the S41 class. If I was to pick I would consider Baz as a strong contender for the very top of my draft board.” - Jenni
Craig Brand - @ElMerchanto -
Physical Corner
New-create, Big Bank, Graphics
“ElMerchanto definitely impressed in his early days in the league, immediately making some great graphics and securing a top DSFL draft pick. He’s slowed down a little since then in the graphics department, but has been very active in both the ISFL and PBE. Following up on an early switch from Tight End to Linebacker, which itself doomed this year’s tight end class to be fairly underwhelming, he has again chosen to switch to Cornerback. I do not know what the draft implications of this are, except that there’s now a new top cornerback available for those ISFL teams with weak secondaries. Additionally, I think he has truly cracked the code to avoid the ever-present position switching conversation from GMs, by simply using up all position switches within his first season. Truly on the cutting edge of ISFL technology.” - Jenni
“Whoops I guess Jenni is taking the lead on this one after the position switch! I have nothing but good things to say about ElMerchanto in the few brief interactions we’ve had over discord. If my sources are correct I heard he’s also a Game Designer and has already shown interest in learning about the Sim. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this name on the GM list someday.” - wizard_literal
Kadarius Claypool ll - @Weaves -
Physical Corner
New-create, Podcast
“I had Weaves at 4th overall in my DSFL mock draft and he’s shown us all that I knew what I was talking about. Weaves came out the gate earning bank with a streak of media articles covering the Prospect Bowl(GO MASTODONS), and that streak won’t be stopping anytime soon with his recent weekly podcasts. I had the pleasure to join him on an upcoming episode, so be sure to give it a listen when it drops! Background credentials aside, Cornerbacks are a coveted position and the playmaker Kadarius Claypool II is as good as they get in this class.” - wizard_literal
“The primary mistake Weaves has made here is in writing the ll in his player’s last name with two lower-case L’s, so he should be ready to see the name “kadarius CLAYPOOL LL” written in the awards ceremonies to come. Considering he’s maintained a top position amongst cornerbacks for earning, an award will probably come sooner rather than later.” - Jenni
Moderate-Earning
Synystyr Gates - @Dustillation -
Cover Corner
New-create
“The other half of the Lucha cornerback pair Synstyr Gates has all the tools and potential to be a great player at the next level. They’re at the top of my moderate-earners solely on the basis they play for Tijuana. I haven’t had too many interactions with Dustillation, but from what I’ve seen they’re a solid player with all the potential to be a long time earner. Dustillation is also a PBE affiliate user which is a nice boon to add to the resume. I’m sure teams would like it if Gates could earn a bit more cash for equipment, but honestly even a moderate-earner who is consistent can be of considerable aid to any team. With the Tijuana -> New Orleans pipeline, this could be a lock for one of NOLAs late round picks.” - wizard_literal
“I recognize Dustillation as one of the commentators for the PBE sim streams, where they do fantastic work. It’s clear they have significant dedication to the PBE, and I think ISFL GMs will appreciate that they can rely on Dustillation to be in communication at the very least. Additionally, choosing to play at cornerback may mean that Synystyr Gates will be drafted fairly early, well before the ‘late round pick’ that the wizard’s faulty orb projects.” - Jenni
Bradley Welch Jr. - @Dolphins -
Cover Corner
Re-create, ,
“I was shocked to see Dolphins drop in the DSFL draft, but I think we should all know by now that draft position isn’t a very accurate indicator on how successful a player will be. They likely dropped because of inactivity on their last player, but after a full season in the DSFL as a top earner at the Cornerback position, I’m sure any doubts teams had will be long gone. It looks like Dolphins had a prior career in Yellowknife before being traded to Berlin after a position switch request. Keep an eye out for a Bradley Welch Jr. return to either team in the draft.” - wizard_literal
“I recall Dolphins being particularly active early, and even forming a rivalry with @CROney3’s Benji Aguilera during the Prospect Bowl. Unfortunately they haven’t been particularly active since then.” - Jenni
Benjamin Duvernay - @Purpl3Spartan -
Cover Corner
New-create
“Another moderate-earner corner by TPE metrics. Benjamin Duvernay's bank is sitting at only $250K at the time of this writing. They'll want to try improve that in the future if they want to have longevity in the league.” - wizard_literal
Bill Cravy - @KlausGoatCasinos -
Slot Corner
New-create
“Bill Cravy, owner of Cravy Inc., gets a bonus point from me for having a really unique player render. I know Dub Redd will be trying out the entire line of Cravy products, such as the new beef lasagna, as soon as that ISFL contract money comes through. KlausGoatCasino has been a solid earner that finally got around to doing their player presser a few weeks back netting them a solid 1.2M for training purposes. Unfortunately Bill Cravy won’t be able to rely solely on selling Cravy products to pay for future Weekly Training funds.” - wizard_literal
“I think KlausGoatCasinos has been a really great under-the-radar user; I’m a big fan of committing to a comedic character, and they’re hopefully going to make a series of Cravy Days to continue the bit. I also admire the usage of a color reference in their update page. I don’t know why, I guess it just appeals to me.” - Jenni
Ivan Baldwin - @MrNoPass -
Slot Corner
New-create
“A Cornerback from user MrNoPass? That certainly can’t be a coincidence. I had Ivan Baldwin on my short lists of draft picks that I though might garner a 1st/2nd round pick in the ISFL draft. This player was an outright late round steal for the Buccaneers and has been a big part of their success this season. Unfortunately this is another Cornerback I’d like to see earn a bit better in the bank department. They currently only sit at $20,090 banked!.” - wizard_literal
“Perhaps MrNoPass’ small bank can be attributed to having just recently purchased tier 6 equipment, which I am personally happy for due to the effect it could have on the Bucs, but I think ISFL GMs will be happy to see MrNoPass maintain consistent activity. They’re also a welcome sight in the Buccaneers locker room, to be sure.” - Jenni
Saveour Piethons - @LeatherneckMike -
Cover Corner
Re-create,
“Recreate LeatherneckMike looks to have a solid strategy in place for maintaining a long career. Having only opted to purchase tier 1 equipment this season despite having the funds for tier 6, LeatherneckMike looks to be opting to ensure they’re able to consistently pay for Weekly Training. Us newcreate Rookies should take note! Ensuring you can always get 5 TPE every week at $1M is a much better rate than the $13.5M for 30 TPE tier 6 equipment offer. Robust team rosters are built on the back of players like Saveuor Piethons.” - wizard_literal
“The Pythons are saved, I think, so LeatherneckMike’s player name may become a snapshot into a brief moment of pre-S41 class history. Overall I think they may be more focused on the PBE, but should be a great contributor in the ISFL as well.” - Jenni
Low-Earning
Banjo O’Kudah - @Magnet -
Physical Corner
Re-create, Big Bank,
“Hey look at that we got through all the Cornerbacks without a single inactive! Recreate Magnet is back at Cornerback after retiring previous starting Center Rudy Gray who played for The Cape Town Crash. While they’re in the lower-earner category it looks like Magnet prefers to update on a bi-weekly basis, so I could definitely see them getting to the moderate-earner category in no time.” - wizard_literal
“This former member of the Philadelphia Liberty has plenty of cash and does all of their predictions, so I think there’s a good chance the Crash take them in the fifth round to fill up their cornerback room.” - Jenni

Mary Marie - @aeonsjenni -
Enforcer
New-create, Media, Big Bank
“The top draft prospect in this class, consensus first overall pick, sure bet for future hall of famer, EPA expert, and overall wonderful person aeonsjenni has been taking the league by storm. Her work on ISFL EPA is nearly unrivaled in terms of ANY media this league has ever seen. Yeah I’m a rookie, but trust me I’ve gone back through 14 pages of statistical analysis articles. She’s made a lasting and positive impact in the league in such a short period, it’s an absolute honor to be mentioned in the same draft class as her. Her character speaks for itself in volumes more than anything I ever could write will do. Thank you so much for including me on this project Jenni, it’s been a wild ride!” - wizard_literal
“Well crap. Now I feel like I should have been a bit more effusive in my writeup for wizard_literal. Needless to say a lot went unsaid—I was trying to be unbiased! Much like the wizard I’m going to avoid talking about myself too much, so I’d like to send my sincere gratitude to some of the key veteran members of the Bondi Beach Locker Room. @Thor, @Akoustique, @Eric Belmont, @Memento Mori, @AK41, thank you so much for being so welcoming and helping me figure out this league in my first season here. I know my time in Bondi Beach will end eventually but I won’t forget all of your help!” - Jenni
Rico Savage - @TheRake -
Enforcer
New-create, Podcast, Big Bank
“You’ve been living under a rock if you have yet to hear about the next Safety on our list. Famous t-worder Jake TheRake has been making a name for himself at an alarming rate this season both on the field and in the league Discord. As a top earner and consensus first round DSFL draft pick, I expect we’ll be seeing big things from Rico Savage for seasons to come. From what I’ve picked up Safety is a high priority position for max-earners, and TheRake’s unbridled passion only adds to an already impressive draft stock. On top of everything else, The Pumpin Hands podcast he’s been putting out every week with @”toofpete” has been some of the best rookie generated content this season. The only negative thing I can say about Rico Savage is he’s a dirty no-good rotten Norfolk Seawolf.” - wizard_literal
“Alarming is certainly correct, as TheRake may be the most controversial new player of the S41 class. Notorious not only for shamelessly tampering but also for confidently arguing his broadly incorrect NFL opinions, TheRake has managed to navigate the dangerous waters of controversy fairly well—which is no small feat! He also did a fantastic job interviewing my GM Thor on his podcast, no thanks to @toofpete, and has been at the top of the class in earning throughout his time in the league.” - Jenni
Icepick O’Hullihan - @Joe Shabado -
Enforcer
New-create
“Living in the shadow of Mary Marie and Rico Savage isn’t easy, but Icepick O’Hullihan has quietly been an exceptional prospect in this loaded class. Their player likeness “Ed Reed with explosions behind him” likely explains why O’Hullihan has been having an explosive season in the DSFL for Kansas City with 59 tackles and 4 sacks on the season. Sitting at 204 TPE at current, Icepick is only behind the top two safeties on this list due to a lack of tier 6 equipment. It looks like Joe Shabado submitted a GFX entry sometime back. That could be a good path towards helping them earn tier 6 next season.” - wizard_literal
“Icepick O’Hullihan was an S41 Enforcer before it was cool: the original. It was only a matter of time before the rest of us began to catch up, but we should appreciate this user for their incredible foresight. I think they have a great chance of being drafted by Honolulu, probably in the second round.” - Jenni

Brian Vincent-Vega - @WrittinDirectino -
Center Fielder
New-create, Media
“WrittinDirectino failed to mention Dub Redd in their DSFL Mid-Season Awards, so you know I’ve got to say something about that here! Okay wait they did have Tijuana at number one in their DSFL power rankings so I’ll let it slide for now. The Royal’s safety Brian Vincent-Vega has been a pivotal part of London’s success this season, and is sure to have a long and storied career at the next level.” - wizard_literal
“WrittinDirectino did not fail to mention Mary Marie in their DSFL Mid-Season Awards, so I have absolutely nothing to say about that here except: ‘Thank You’. I’ve been very charmed by WrittinDirectino’s little cat profile picture every time I’ve seen it, so I’ve been pleased to see this user stay active on the forums. I think Brian Vincent-Vega has a great future in the league ahead of them.” - Jenni
Garth Silver - @MCHers -
Center Fielder
New-create
“I couldn’t dig up much on Norfolk safety Garth Silver. I guess that could be both good or bad! They’ve done a solid enough job this season to make it into the moderate-earner class, but will need to find an income source for future seasons if they want to make it at the next level.” - wizard_literal
Amanda HugAndKiss - @Quisvilius -
Center Fielder
New-create
“Amanda HugAndKiss has been having an under the radar season playing alongside star Bondi Beach Buccaneers safety Mary Marie. They’ve been consistently checking off ACs, Weekly Training, and Predictions point tasks which are all signs of a solid player. They even have a wiki page! From the wiki Amanda played in Ocean County during high school. That certainly explains why they ended up in Bondi Beach. Look for this Ocean County Safety to be making waves in the near future!” - wizard_literal
“As my comrade in the Bondi Beach defensive backfield, I’m happy to say that Quis has been consistently active in the locker room during the streams, and has a lot of enthusiasm for the league and their team. They generally seem to avoid the forums but GMs should be aware that this user is likely to punch well above their weight as a great presence in the locker room for the team that drafts them.” - Jenni
And that's everything! Thank you so much for reading, and have a lovely day.
