The big focus of Jake Jefferson's rookie season has been to improve his accuracy and ability to read defenses. He's been spending a lot of time in the film room to watch both his own games and tape from other teams, and this has been working to improve his skills with finding gaps in the defense and mismatches where his receivers are getting open. He's also been working very closely with the QB coach of the Coyotes to fine-tune his arm and develop more touch on the ball. Before the season, Jefferson's strengths were in a fast release and power to make those tight-window throws that are necessary to run a professional offense, but the throws weren't as clean as they could have been to take the fullest advantage of open receivers, and sometimes he was trying to force a throw rather than just moving on to his second or third read. These skills have been fine-tuned through lots of hours on the practice field running plays to work out Jefferson's arm and brain, and the Coyotes should be able to see the fruits of this labour next season.
