We have more Prospect Bowl games to discuss. Weeks 4-6 ended much in the same way weeks 1-3 ended. Each team finished 1-1 bringing every team to a current 2-2 record. The games were much more competitive this time around however. Their aren't as many standout players, instead teams are learning to work together and not play as individuals. Something that will help them all later on in their careers when they find themselves in the DSFL.
Game 4: Guyana Golden Eagles vs Amsterdam Adders
Final Score: Golden Eagles 17, Adders 24
Like I said, a lot of these games ended similar to the first time around. This time a much closer game than the 42-10 beatdown the Adders gave the Golden Eagles in week 1. PJ Star started at quarterback for the Adders this game and seemed to be a significant downgrade from previous starting QB, Not Edd. Star had a completion percentage of 50%. While he did throw 3 touchdowns, he also threw an interception in the game. Which in itself isn't terrible, but combined with his passing accuracy it give a bad look for the Adders new QB. On the Eagles side they started new quarterback prospect Dee Man who didn't have a spectacular game himself. Man finished with a higher completion percentage at 61.5%, but threw 2 interceptions. The ground game was fairly average for both teams, mostly being used to gain short yardage needed for a first down. Overall this was a very defensive game on both sides of the ball. Both defenses had solid players at every position. The defensive player that stood out the most to me was Chaos Vert for the Adders. Vert stacked up 8 tackles, a forced fumble, 3 pass deflections, and an interception. Golden Eagles' Narl Hecklenburg received Defensive player of the game, and though I gave the edge to Vert I can see why Hecklenburg was picked. Hecklenburg had 3 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, a pass deflection, and an interception. He was a great defensive piece and may be the best LB prospect we've seen so far in the Prospect Bowl.
Game 5: Raspberry Island Kodiaks vs Guyana Golden Eagles
Final Score: Kodiaks 17, Golden Eagles 31
The Golden Eagles still haven't beaten the Adders and the Kodiaks still can't beat the Golden Eagles. Again playing a closer game than the first time around they still couldn't get over the hump. The Eagles had a big second quarter scoring 17 points and allowing the Kodiaks 0 setting the precedent for the rest of the game. Golden Eagles quarterback Dee Man had something to prove after a sub-par performance the prior week. Man threw for 310 yards and had a completion percentage of 77.8%. Running back Sailor Moon also wanted to show off what he was capable of with 104 yards rushing in the game. The Golden Eagles stacked TE room helped to support their receivers. With Man playing the way he did, anyone running downfield looking to make a reception had a good day. Wide Receiver Stetson David continues to make a name for himself putting up 133 yards on 7 receptions. Kodiaks new starting quarterback Zisia Ojeisndiwoseodj had a decent enough start to his career. Ojeisndiwoseodj threw only one interception and put up 224 yards. He just needs to work on getting the ball to his receivers a little more accurately. Both teams defenses worked together to do what they needed to get off the field and get their offense on the field. Players like Turd Burglar and Robert Rossi didn't have a dominating performance like we're accustomed to, but some new additions to the teams are showing a lot of promise. Safety Troi Ballamallyou is one that I'm watching. He picked up 5 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble which he recovered.
Game 6: Amsterdam Adders vs Raspberry Island Kodiaks
Final Score: Adders 22, Kodiaks 31
The Kodiaks can't beat the Golden Eagles, the Golden Eagles can't beat the Adders, and the Adders can't beat the Kodiaks. The Prospect Bowl has turned into an ouroboros of teams. I can't wait to find out if the cycle will break in the weeks to follow. You have to think one of these teams is going to get the push they need and take home two wins in the round robin, leaving one of the teams finishing the Prospect Bowl in last. For now though let's discuss the second game between the Adders and Kodiaks. Kodiaks quarterback Zisia Ojeisndiwoseodj saw much improvement from last weeks performance. He threw for 325 yards with a completion rate of 69.8%. The same can not be said for Adders quarterback PJ Star. Despite a poor debut against the Golden Eagles, the Adders decided to stick with their decision of starting Star over Not Edd. Star threw for 268 yards and once again finished with a completion percentage of 50%. He kept the ball from finding the opposing teams hands this week at least. Both runningbacks for the Adders had yet another disappointing game. Reginald Bush and Eldroh Kove were both standout players for me in weeks 1-3, but haven't found that same magic they had. The Adders rushed for only a combined 80 yards on 19 carries. Adders receiver Keanu Calhoun still struggles to come down with the ball, but makes big plays when he does. His consistency still needs a lot of attention. The Kodiaks have meanwhile found a new favorite at the receiver position in Octavion Speedings. Speeding put up 93 yards on 7 receptions. Alongside Will Hartford the two make a great duo, and their chemistry with quarterback Zisia Ojeisndiwoseodj is definitely improving. Defense was strong for both teams. The standouts in this game for the Adders was Aleksandar Ković and Chaos Vert. Ković had 11 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. He was all over the field shutting down the Kodiaks offense. Vert had another great game with 6 tackles, a pass deflection, and an interception. On the Kodiaks defense Troi Ballamallyou was the standout for me. 7 tackles, a sack, and a pass deflection is nothing to complain about.
Standout Players
@CeeKay Octavion Speedings (WR) - Raspberry Island Kodiaks - 11 Rec, 19 Tar, 162 Yds, 14.7 Avg, 1 TD, 36 Lg
Speedings is the newcomer for standouts in the wide receiver section and he was a much needed addition for the Kodiaks. He's stepped up alongside his teammate Will Hartford and added another down field receiver for the quarterback to rely on. He's not as consistent as Hartford, but he was more explosive and made a bunch of big plays for the Kodiaks. He can easily develop into a big time player for the Kodiaks if he works on some of his fundamentals.
@Frostbite Keanu Calhoun (WR) - Amsterdam Adders - 11 Rec, 25 Tar, 198 Yds, 18 Avg, 3 TD, 88 Lg
Calhoun made it to the standouts again over this set of weeks and for the most part we got a lot of the same from him. Huge chunk plays and a really good average yardage when the ball is in his hands. The Adders continue to throw a lot of balls his way and I can see why. He's super speedy and can breakout from nowhere and be in the endzone before you even realize he's past you.
@GoPokes92 Will Hartford (WR) - Raspberry Island Kodiaks - 15 Rec, 21 Tar, 150 Yds, 10 Avg, 2 TD, 21 Lg
We mentioned Hartford earlier, he's a great go to guy when you need a few yards. He plays hard and never gives up on the play, doing everything he can to get whatever his team needs to move the chains and keep the offense on the field. He didn't rack up as many yards this time around, but the depth at wide receiver between Hartford and Speedings is incredibly valuable to the Kodiaks offense. I'm looking foreword to seeing their chemistry develop and put up some huge numbers.
@oilmandan Stetson David (WR) - Guyana Golden Eagles - 13 Rec, 19 Tar, 228 Yds, 17.5 Avg, 1 TD, 40 Lg
David is a beast. The Eagles found more ways to get him the ball and he didn't disappoint. David just gets better and better every week. I expect he's on a lot of teams radars going into the DSFL draft. He'll be a great addition for anyone that can land him. If he continues playing the way he is, he'll make a name for himself in the ISFL before long.
@UpperNet Zisia Ojeisndiwoseodj (QB) - Raspberry Island Kodiaks - 49/74 Cp/At, 66.2% Pct, 549 Yds, 3 TD, 2 Int
The Kodiaks have a new quarterback in weeks 4-6 and so far he's the best looking QB I've seen in the Prospect Bowl. He's a pocket passer with a cannon for an arm and impressive accuracy. He can put a ball 40 yards downfield wherever he wants it. He has some breakaway speed, but much prefers staying in the pocket and finding a man downfield. With the duo of Octavion Speedings and Will Hartford he pretty much always has somewhere to go with the ball. He makes reads quickly and gets the ball out of his hands before defenses can get to him. He'll be picked up quick in the DSFL draft.
@Bubba Chaos Vert (CB) - Amsterdam Adders - 14 Tck, 1 FF, 0 FR, 4 PD, 2 INT
The newest cornerback in the Prospect Bowl had what I think was the best performance out of them all in weeks 4-6. He put up numbers close to what Turd Burglar had weeks in 1-3. He wasn't stripping the ball as much as the CBs we're in the past review, but still had one forced fumble. He prefers to keep the ball out of receivers hands all together either deflecting the ball or getting to it first. He lives up to his name and is absolute chaos for quarterbacks to work around.
@MN_Moosey Federico Americano (LB) - Raspberry Island Kodiaks - 16 Tck, 0 TFL , 1 Sack
Defense was much stronger in this set of weeks and a large part of that was due to the high level play of the linebackers. Hardly any teams had an easy time running the ball, that's because players like Americano were locking them down. As soon as the runningbacks stepped past the line of scrimmage they found themselves on the ground with Americano towering over them celebrating a big hit. Americano got 16 tackles and even got to the quarterback giving him a sack.
@Reno Aleksandar Ković (LB) - Amsterdam Adders - 19 Tck, 2 TFL , 0 Sack
If Americano standing over you as you try to figure out WHERE you are is scary. Runningbacks usually have a hard time figuring out WHO they are after Ković hits them. He's not only strong, but has incredible speed, getting to the ball carrier before they can even make it to the line of scrimmage twice. He's been an absolute menace for offense's either shutting down the run game of pressuring the quarterback into making bad decisions.
@LemonJello33 Hardee Hitt (S) - Guyana Golden Eagles - 10 Tck, 1 TFL , 2 Sack
Another player putting immense pressure on the quarterback is Hardee Hitt. Playing at the safety position, he plays like a man with his head on fire. He's all over the field and often times ends up in the quarterbacks face. He has a sneaky way of getting past the offensive line and hunting down whatever unfortunate has the ball in his hand. When he hits, he hits hard. He's certainly not pulling any punches and loves to take any chance he has to hitt you in the mouth.
@WildfireMicro Sailor Moon (RB) - Guyana Golden Eagles - 34 Att, 170 Yds, 5 Avg, 2 TD, 42 Lg
The runningback position had a hard time with defenses playing the way they have this past set of weeks. Sailor Moon didn't let it slow her down though. She's been training hard fighting evil by the moonlight and winning love by daylight. She got a lot of short yardage to get the Golden Eagles a first down and even had a few breakout runs keeping the previously mention LBs and CB on their toes. It's a tight race between Moon, Shrubbery, and Kove for me. Moon took the edge for me in this review though. She played hard and fast. She was the one on whom her team could depend. She is the one named Sailor Moon.
