Mumbai. The Gateway of India. The most populous city of the country, Mumbai has rich historical roots, be it the Mauryans, Portuguese, the British, or even the Indians themselves, Mumbai has established itself as an important entertainment, economic, and trading hub for centuries, and looks to continue its status as India's darling city for years to come. Many sports are played in India - kabaddi, rugby, hockey, soccer, and even American football; but one of India's most beloved sports, cricket, finds its home in the City of Seven Islands.
If there's one stadium that defines Indian, let alone Mumbai cricket; it's Brabourne Stadium. With 50,000 seats; 86 years of history; countless international and test cricket matches; the stadium lives and breathes cricketing history... however, maybe it's time for this hallowed ground of Indian cricket to host a new form of sports.
A silhouette can be enough to tell a story. For this time, the committee chose to represent Mumbai through one of its famous landmarks; the Gateway of India - built to commemorate King George the V's first visit to India; but also became the witness of the last British troops to leave the country as well. Below the Gateway, however, is the foundation - the sacred flower - the national icon for India... the lotus. These iconographies are what the committee chose to represent Mumbai to the world.
(P.S. It's good to be back. Have some mockup designs.)
