As the season ended, Sean Robinson slowly realized he wouldn’t be playing an ISFL game for a while and that he needed to think of something to do that would pass the time. The ISFL draft was coming up so he would obviously be watching that, but there was a ton of free time on his schedule. “So what should I do?” He asked himself. As he was sitting on the couch, he had a thought. What if I go on a vacation touring all of the western United States which he had always found interesting. He decided to do it.
Sean bought tickets to Omaha, Nebraska as that is where his journey would start. Fellow ISFL players that are close friends with sean, Ray Baker and Benji Aguilera would tag along for this journey as Sean wouldn’t want to do it alone. The 3 of them met up in Omaha and began this long journey. First, they visited the Great Plains in the Omaha area and saw some amazing animals that Sean had never seen before. Ray Baker said he was used to this as he played for the Kansas City Coyotes and this was almost the same area as KC. Benji Aguilera grew up in Minnesota so this was somewhat familiar territory. The 3 of them would spend the next 3 days in the Midwest. Then, they would travel to Boise, Idaho to check out the Northwestern U.S. They spent 3 days in Idaho hiking, dirt biking, and kayaking around the stunning landscape. The 3 of them couldn’t believe these stunning views that Idaho brought. They wanted to stay in these rural mountain parts but it was time for them to leave. The next stop on their offseason journey would be Seattle, Washington. As they landed at the Seattle-Tacoma INTL Airport, they saw the green trees and large skyscrapers that welcomed them to the Pacific Northwest. The first thing they did was visit the Seattle Space Needle. This was truly a one of a kind design and is what Seattle is known for. They also went on a ferry to an island off the coast of Seattle. This would be a great part of their trip as they started the west coast part of their journey. Next up was Portland, Oregon. Their was lots to do in Portland. First they checked out Powells book store in downtown Portland. The next day, they went to Mt. Hood and hiked all around it. This is a known mountain in Oregon and one of the tallest in the U.S. While they were sitting in their hotel room on a Friday night. Ray Baker shouted out, “YO THE ISFL DRAFT IS IN 10 MINS”. Robinson and Aguilera were absolutely shocked but excited. They headed downstairs to the lobby to watch it where they totally didn’t get mobbed when they got picked. They spent the rest of the night talking to their new teams but would get back on the vacation the next day. They would go to downtown Portland on Saturday and eat some of the city’s finest seafood. This would be their last day in Seattle on this trip. They then flew to San Francisco, California and the Bay Area. This was starting to get in Sean’s territory as he grew up in California. They first visited the TransAmerica Pyramid in SF. Then, they would head out to Pacifica to experience the beach life. They would then head to Monterey and stay at an Ocean front Hotel. This may have been the most relaxing part of their trip. As their time was up in NorCal, they headed down to the one and only City of Angels, Los Angeles, CA. They would explore the Sofi Stadium, home of the Orange County Otters. This stadium may be the nicest stadium in the ISFL. They would also head to Hollywood and meet many actors and actresses. They would also head to the beach because why not it’s California. They would then drive down to San Diego, CA to round out their California journey. This was also Sean Robinson’s home town. Sean went to his parents house while Ray and Benji checked out Balboa Park. The next day they went to the iconic San Diego Zoo. Sean was very delighted to see the Gorillas. Ray also was excited to see the Coyotes. Benji’s teams aren’t animals so he has nothing to see. The 3 of them were getting very tired the next morning but they had 1 more day in San Diego. So they went to a massage. They were relaxing all day and had all their energy back. They would need this energy for their next stop. It was Las Vegas, Nevada. The city that never sleeps was next on the list. They went to a magic show the first night they were there. During the day, they went to the Stratosphere. An iconic tower in Las Vegas. The next day was Benji‘s favorite day of the entire trip. Gambling!!! They would gamble merely all day at the MGM Grand. They stayed at the MGM Grand because it was one of the premier hotels in Las Vegas. They stayed in Las Vegas for just these two days. Although, their desert adventure would continue as Phoenix, Arizona was next up. This one is a city Benji couldn’t wait to visit as this was the city of the team that drafted him. He visited their training facility on the first day in Phoenix as Ray and Sean were busy driving ATVs in the sand dunes just west of Phoenix. The next day, they would all head to the Musical Instrument Museum. This would be the last day in Phoenix and their trip was just about over. Just 1 more city to go and they would be done with this long, but fun trip. The last city was Denver, Colorado. As the 3 of them got off the plane, they were immediately greeted with insanely high elevation. The air was a bit harder to breathe than in most other cities. They were still very excited to be in Denver. They would explore the iconic Coors Field on the first day and take some at bats for fun! The second day they explored the Denver Art Museum. In that same day, they went dirt biking in the a low part of the Rockies. What a great trip this was and it was coming to an end as everything does. Sean, Ray, and Benji, got on their respective airplanes and said goodbye to each other. They all talked about how good of a trip this was and what it meant to them. Sean got on his plane to New York for the first time. Benji headed back to Tijuana. Ray headed on a flight to Honolulu where he would play for the Honolulu Hahalua. On the flight home, Sean told himself this is how you spend an offseason. I will see you guys in New York where I’ll destroy the entirety of CBs in just a few seasons. I’m coming ISFL.
I would like to take a moment to thank all the ISFL users that have been there for me through these 2 months that I’ve been here. Some of the users that I would like to thank are CROney3, jolly jiggs, TheRake, LCC, toofpete, jdc, DL14, McGriddy, Eph, wizard, jenni, UptownCord, Quasi, Thor, Russ and Weaves. These are just a handful of users that I’ve got help from or have become good friends with. Thank you all of you guys. (@ weren’t working for me)
Thanks for reading Sean, Ray, and Benji’s offseason of a lifetime.
