As the story goes… I need money so I am doing a lookback on my draft class and how everyone is doing from the entire draft (thankfully only three rounds). I love doing this and seeing how things worked out for teams and it gives me a better idea of where I stand against my fellow draftees. I will preface this with some people who have not been updated in a week due to playoffs or they just have not updated recently. As always some people are just flat out inactive.
FIRST ROUND
1st Overall: CB Seth Leavitt
TPE at time of Draft: 267
TPE as of Article: 740 (19th)
Synopsis: Definitely the favorite to go first overall at the time, Leavitt’s earning has dramatically decreased but should still be a serviceable CB.
2nd Overall: DE Waylen Greene (now a LB)
TPE at time of Draft: 240
TPE as of Article: 1000 (5th)
Synopsis: Good draft position looking back and earning well as they are top 5 in the class. Should be a great LB for years to come.
3rd Overall: LB Sim Sunigh
TPE at time of Draft: 219
TPE as of Article: 967 (10th)
Synopsis: Earning is probably in line with what their TPE was at the time of the draft. Still a good pick and should be a good LB for the Otters for awhile.
4th Overall: RB Frank Dux (me)
TPE at time of Draft: 247
TPE as of Article: 1003 (4th)
Synopsis: This guy SUCKS. In all seriousness, Dux had his true breakout performance this last season and was a great pick by the Butchers who are in the middle of their rebuild.
5th Overall: RB Willie Miller (now a QB)
TPE at time of Draft: 203
TPE as of Article: 931 (12th)
Synopsis: The former RB turned QB somehow won the MVP and Rookie of the Year. What the actual hell. Great pick (for obvious reasons) and earning is pretty much in line with where they were at at the time of the draft.
6th Overall: RB Jake Williams (now a CB)
TPE at time of Draft: 257
TPE as of Article: 1046 (1st)
Synopsis: This ended up being a GM pick if I remember correctly but still a great pick for the TPE leader and for a very big position of need that most people probably don’t want to play.
7th Overall: DT Mario Moloka’i (now a LB)
TPE at time of Draft: 202
TPE as of Article: 707 (20th)
Synopsis: This was an okay pick I think for where they’re at with their TPE. Better options available probably looking back but they should still be a serviceable LB at their TPE.
8th Overall: DT Johnson Lovehammer
TPE at time of Draft: 233
TPE as of Article: 565 (22nd)
Synopsis: This one makes me sad. I was hoping Lowkey’s TPE earning was as great as his name… This ended up being a bust (LUL) overall but at that TPE should be good depth for his team.
9th Overall: LB MC Hammer (now a DT)
TPE at time of Draft: 180
TPE as of Article: 918 (15th)
Synopsis: This is a good pick as the TPE picked up and isn’t too far off the draft position. One of the Hammer brothers and much better than the one he is teammates with.
10th Overall: LB Maxwell Jacob Friedman
TPE at time of Draft: 237
TPE as of Article: 998 (6th)
Synopsis: This was a great pick! 6th in earning and at an important position too. Makes up for the first pick in the draft in a way.
11th Overall: LB Donte Darius
TPE at time of Draft: 249
TPE as of Article: 921 (14th)
Synopsis: Another good pick where the TPE lines up with the draft position. Linebacker is an important position and New York got a good one here.
12th Overall: DT Mo Gago
TPE at time of Draft: 256
TPE as of Article: 968 (9th)
Synopsis: Great pick where the TPE earning is ahead of the draft position. Mo Gago should be a good DT for years to come.
13th Overall: WR Dick Grayson
TPE at time of Draft: 190
TPE as of Article: 416 (27th)
Synopsis: This is about in line with the 8th overall pick where it can be considered a bust. Their draft position is 14 spots ahead of their current TPE rank. Honolulu had a pretty interesting first round.
14th Overall: QB Donovan Winters III
TPE at time of Draft: 255
TPE as of Article: 993 (7th)
Synopsis: This was a great pick (I guess). I think we all knew Zeagle was going back to Arizona. When Arizona decides to let him pass the ball more I’m sure this’ll be a real homerun of a pick.
Best Pick: Willie Miller (6th overall)
Worst Pick: Seth Leavitt (1st overall)
SECOND ROUND
15th Overall: S Geralt
TPE at time of Draft: 221
TPE as of Article: 1007 (3rd)
Synopsis: Maybe the steal of the draft? I don’t think they were a GM pick but it’s kind of crazy to see this value fall to the second round. Should be one of the best defensive players to come out of this draft.
16th Overall: QB NCADV Rainn (now a WR)
TPE at time of Draft: 217
TPE as of Article: 906 (16th)
Synopsis: Former QB turned WR, this ended up being a good pick with the TPE and draft position matching up perfectly. They’ll probably have a great career for the team historically known to be called the Yeeti.
17th Overall: QB Blaine Falco
TPE at time of Draft: 250
TPE as of Article: 989 (8th)
Synopsis: This guys also SUCKS (my brother). I was a bit surprised he fell during the draft. He max earned his first player (also HOF) but it was a pretty stacked QB class at the time. I would consider this a steal in the draft for sure.
18th Overall: WR Plant Based
TPE at time of Draft: 127
TPE as of Article: 453 (25th)
Synopsis: Not bad value for a middle round pick and at a position of need. They could be a serviceable WR for a while for the rebuilding Butchers.
19th Overall: QB Smokin Jay (now a S)
TPE at time of Draft: 249
TPE as of Article: 1030 (2nd)
Synopsis: GM pick so this is an auto steal I suppose! Otters have their safety of the future and they’re going to be good for a while.
20th Overall: DE Good Player
TPE at time of Draft: 200
TPE as of Article: 573 (21st)
Synopsis: Good value at this pick at a position that doesn’t require a ton of TPE from my understanding. Should be a good option for years to come on the edge.
21st Overall: CB Charlie Brown (now a K/P)
TPE at time of Draft: 101
TPE as of Article: 237 (31st)
Synopsis: Steal. Kicker/Punter going before the third round is so fun and I hope they have an incredible career.
22nd Overall: RB Hot Chocolate
TPE at time of Draft: 140
TPE as of Article: RIP
Synopsis: Retired
23rd Overall: CB Apollo Program
TPE at time of Draft: 183
TPE as of Article: 862 (17th)
Synopsis: Great value at this pick and at a position that, again, not many people want to create as. Fun fact, this is the first person on the list to not be on the team that drafted them.
24th Overall: CB Brooks Piggott
TPE at time of Draft: 203
TPE as of Article: 926 (13th)
Synopsis: Awesome value here with 24th pick at CB. Should be a great option defensively for years to come.
25th Overall: LB Kenny McCormick
TPE at time of Draft: 165
TPE as of Article: 534 (24th)
Synopsis: Good pick here for their draft position. Could be good depth at linebacker or a cheap option for the team to use while buffing up other positions on either side of the ball.
26th Overall: CB Luigi Lanikai
TPE at time of Draft: 209
TPE as of Article: 964 (11th)
Synopsis: GM pick so this is an auto steal I suppose! Hahalua have their corner of the future and they’re going to be good for a while. Also, only 11th???
27th Overall: S Antoine Winfield Jr
TPE at time of Draft: 206
TPE as of Article: 819 (18th)
Synopsis: Another GM pick (had to look this one up lol). Obviously makes it a good pick although I will say their earning as a GM isn’t super great but not sure if there’s more to it than that.
28th Overall: RB Gucci Gurley
TPE at time of Draft: 106
TPE as of Article: 424 (26th)
Synopsis: Great name, good pick. I believe this is only the second player to not be on the team that drafted them. Regardless, running back depth is important and any earning this late in the draft is solid.
Best Pick: Geralt (15th overall)
Worst Pick: Hot Chocolate (22nd overall)
THIRD ROUND
29th Overall: WR Branden Rojas
TPE at time of Draft: 106
TPE as of Article: 412 (29th)
Synopsis: Draft position and TPE earning are perfectly lined up. They should be a serviceable WR for a team that lacks depth.
30th Overall: CB Deandre Crover
TPE at time of Draft: 102
TPE as of Article: RIP
Synopsis: Retired
31st Overall: RB Malik Jordan
TPE at time of Draft: 84
TPE as of Article: RIP
Synopsis: Retired
32nd Overall: TE Hex Amofah
TPE at time of Draft: 87
TPE as of Article: RIP
Synopsis: Retired
33rd Overall: S Demarius Cook
TPE at time of Draft: 83
TPE as of Article: 541 (25th)
Synopsis: Solid value here surrounded by retired players. Good job by the Sarasota Sailfish finding value at the end of the draft (they did appear to trade them to Baltimore). Should be a good depth/low-cost option at safety for the Hawks.
34th Overall: DE Lenny Lyons Jr.
TPE at time of Draft: 50
TPE as of Article: 246 (30th)
Synopsis: Probably just an IA depth piece at this point - Lyons was drafted by the Crush and is now on the Sabercats.
35th Overall: WR Saul McGill
TPE at time of Draft: 65
TPE as of Article: RIP
Synopsis: Retired
36th Overall: CB Anthony Simmons
TPE at time of Draft: 64
TPE as of Article: RIP
Synopsis: Retired
37th Overall: WR Jay Money
TPE at time of Draft: 50
TPE as of Article: 619 (20th)
Synopsis: Maybe the actual sleeper of the draft here. I don’t know how the Hawks did it but they snagged a top 20 earner in the class (albeit a small one) with the second to last pick of the draft. Good on them.
38th Overall: WR Chris Halla
TPE at time of Draft: 73
TPE as of Article: RIP
Synopsis: Retired
Best Pick: Jay Money (37th overall)
Worst Pick: Everyone who retired
