After analyzing results of a competing sim football league and the curious performance of an Outlaws-esque team there, it has come to the attention of one Detective Timeconsumer that there is a significant and game breaking bug in this sim in the passing game. Given the current situation in the league surrounding unfair advantages, myself and the otter people I shared this with in the NSFL have decided it is in the best interest of the league to bring it to the forefront as soon as possible.
20 test games. All vs the same team. All on the same field. All with the same stats. All with the same depth chart. All with the same strategy. Only 1 thing was changed, Mr. Westfield's position.
By changing a wide receiver to a mobile quarterback, but still starting him at wide receiver, he suddenly is able to break incredibly long runs for 6 points. His yards per catch more than doubled. His touchdowns tripled.
How is the possible, you ask? Well, not only did I record box score stats, I watched the sim. Normally when a wide receiver makes a catch, he suddenly slows to a crawl. As a running QB this no longer happens. Westfield makes the catch and it's full steam ahead as he takes it to the house. The defense is always 2 yards behind him.
I do not know if any team's have yet benefited from this bug in the NSFL, except maybe S1 Outlaws when Bronko changed to a QB but stayed at WR during the inactive Draxel era. However I don't think he was a running QB so maybe not. And it doesn't matter if anybody has used this in the past or not anyway.
What is important is that the league immediately ensure that any time a mobile QB starts at WR (or possibly even returner or RB) for a team that his position in the sim is changed accordingly so as to avoid this truly game breaking bug.
