I'd first want to discuss how we would want to finance this. Are we buying overall naming rights or just a percentage of wins/overall reward success? Although it wouldnt change my answer a ton, I would probably pivot to a more profitable endeavor if its just naming rights.
I'd probably want to invest in an overall e-sports brand across multiple game streams, in order to diversify my investment. My honest opinion is that while the prize pools for the big ones (League of Legends, Counterstrike: Go, and Starcraft 2) are attractive, you have more competition to beat and larger teams to manage/fund. If we could just identify some up and comers in the 1v1 scene for games, it might be more bang for your buck. So with that, I'd probably look to dominate the EVO and other fighter based scenes. As for branding, it would need to be something catchy. So off the hip I'm going to call it Big Chungus E-Sports. Code: 160 words
Jamie Orion doesn't know a ton about e-sports; he's more of a TTRPG guy, you see. But he trusts that his agent has a finger on the pulse of today's ever-changing sports scene, so when approached about it he searches for an existing local team to finance. He finds what he's looking for in the Portland Blazer5, an NBA 2K team with six members who have had moderate individual success on the basketball circuit. In addition to NBA 2K competitions, the team has been known to host other e-sports events in the past. So Orion probably decks them all out with new merch - matching shirts and caps with the team name and a prominent Pythons logo as their major sponsor. He also puts up some funds for registration and a prize pool for an open amateur competition hosted by the club in their native Portland. And of course, all the pizza and soda the club can consume on a weekly basis!
Aaron Jager is familiar with the League of Legends esports teams from a fan's perspective. He knows that each region has their ups and downs as far as viewership and ability to win. He is an enlightened fan that views things objectively. While others bandwagon on Korea as being the best region, having the best teams, Aaron knows that China is truly #1 when it comes to League of Legends. He is a big fan of the toplaner 369 (who is currently on team JDG). Team JDG is also home to several fantastic players, and just won the LPL (Chinese) Summer playoffs. Jager expects them to go all the way and win worlds this year. Given this impecible timing to sponsor an Esports team, JDG would be the one he would like to sponsor. While JDG is a large organization and he would only be a smaller sponsor, it would be a nice opportunity to go see worlds live and watch his favorite team win it all.
If I were running an e sports team the first thing I would do is make it based out of Boston. Then I would find the best players in the world and encourage them to join my elite squad of world class gamers. We would focus on the FPS genre, anything that gets eyes on the product. Fortnite? Sure. Call of Duty? You bet. Apex Legends and Valorant? Maybe but don't push it. Since Boston is the class of the sports world, it should be the class of the e sports world as well. We would put billboards all over the North End. Fenway Park would have a giant mural for us close by. The sports radio shows in town would cover us like a real sports team because I would ensure they were financially compensated to do so. We would be one of the first e sports teams to have play by play broadcast online or over the radio in a local format. We would draw in the eyes and attention of millions and be a success.

I think the game I would be going for would be Madden 24, while I know it's not the best game around, it certainly can be fun. I would probably be sponsoring a tournament in Orange county as a homage to my current team in the ISFL. I used to play the madden games much more before I became a pro player in the ISFL, used to be up on the competitive stage with the best players in the world. The hope is with a good turnout here in this tournament, to recruit a number of the players interested into a E-Sports league going forward. The plan would be to stream everything to try to get a large footprint and to get and keep the best players in the world interested in playing here. Regardless there would be some hometown players getting some experience with playing the best of the best, regardless, should be a great time once this gets started.

Reginald has been an avid gamer his whole life. Unfortunately, his gaming time has taken a big hit because his ISFL contract has specified that he is not allowed to play any form of video games during the season. Apparently he hasn't been studying enough film. Jokes on the team though, his intelligence hasn't increased one teep since he was signed. Anyways, Reginald was ecstatic when he was chosen to sponsor an e-sports team. He went with his childhood favorite, Super Smash Bros. He also agreed to coach the team. Unfortunately for his team, his favorite player is Jigglypuff. He had fond memories of balling out with the puff and other players getting so mad when they were defeated by a "joke character." He forced every member of his team to get good with the jiggles. And they got good. Too bad that jigglypuff is not a good tier character and his whole team got eliminated first round. Oops.
