Hello everyone! My partner @Tmoney6996, has just closed out his first season in the DSFL. He has somehow talked me into joining this season, so for my first media piece I thought what better way to recap how I got talked into this, than to go over the 5 key changes to my life, after living with a DSFL Rookie.
1. Discord pings now haunt my ears.
I never knew I could hear so many pings in one day. They are inescapable as well. Discord pings on the computer upstairs, discord pings from his phone in the living room, discord pings in the bedroom coming from his watch on the charger! The pings are so intrusive, I fear that I have become accustomed to hearing phantom discord pings away from the house. I’m always ready, always listening. Ping. Ping…. Ping.
2. Clarification between football talking points.
As someone who *attempts* to keep track of what my partner is interested in and talking about, I have recently had to create a rule that context is a thing, and it is needed. Talking about a draft? Was that the DSFL draft, ISFL draft, or Fantasy Football draft? Context! Preseason game coming up soon? Context! Watching the game this Thursday? Context my guy.
3. Family Calendar has been resurrected.
For a man who normally doesn’t pay attention to our joint calendar, it has suddenly seen much more activity on his part. Calendar events have popped up all over the place. Our days are now filled with game days, mock drafts, real drafts, podcast interviews and more.
4. I’ve been transported back a decade and find myself once again heavily invested in the politics surrounding Survivor? (shout out to Waldo) I was on the edge of my seat hearing the results of some of the tribunals.
5. Clarification (Vol 2) between “work” and “work”.
If I thought keeping the different football talking points separate wasn’t hard enough, I definitely wasn’t prepared for mundane work talk to suddenly need a whole lot more context as well. One day Tmoney let me know that he was applying for a new position and they had already reached out for an interview. CONTEXT!
I’ve been asked already if I joined just to get Tmoney to stop discussing Sim football with me. Hopefully, the above has clarified that I actually never stood a chance. I’ve embraced the chaos. Gone full commit on this journey that I was already dragged into with him and created my own player.
Our calendars are full, the context is minimal, and the discord pings between the two of us could create their own dubstep remix.
