Alright, we've seen a distinct lack of mock drafts on-site for tonight's DSFL draft, so I'm here to give it my best shot!
Disclaimers
1. I've been out of the loop on DSFL teams/players/action for a while now.
2. A large number of fantastic recreates are in this class, which makes it super tough.
3. I went off of what I know of users, what I've seen in rookie chat, and some team needs that I gathered through a quick glance at the TPETracker for each team.
4. I'm an idiot, so don't believe anything I post below.
Now that that's out of the way, let's get into it.
1st Overall - Minnesota Grey Ducks
Team Needs: Defensive Line, Linebacker, Offensive Line
Pick: Doctor Who @thewhovian - Defensive End
Rationale: Minnesota stays true to the OG DSFL code and takes a new create here at 1oa. thewhovian has already shown to be active in rookie chat and has done some media as well. The positioning is a great fit for the team as well!
2nd Overall - London Royals
Team Needs: Quarterback, Offensive Line, Kicker/Punter
Pick: Chappy McChapperson @Charple - Quarterback
Rationale: Quarterback is the most important position on the field, and London gets a good one here. They rush to grab McChapperson before Dallas gets a shot at him and they fill their biggest need with a proven recreate who will get the job done.
3rd Overall - Norfolk Seawolves
Team Needs: Defensive Line, Offensive Line, Kicker/Punter
Pick: Micah Dixon @Shylo_Moxii - Cornerback
Rationale: OK, I know the pick doesn't fit something I listed as a need, but hear me out. Knowing what I know about Norfolk as a former GM and long time war room member, they ALWAYS take a new create in the 1st if at all possible. Despite it being tough to pass up some of the amazing recreates available, Shylo has been active in Norfolk's recruit chat, has done a presser, and shows great promise. I just have a gut feeling they take him and rotate somebody to safety to make it work.
4th Overall - Bondi Beach
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Defensive Line, Kicker/Punter
Pick: Pitter Patter @r0tzbua - Wide Receiver
Rationale: Bondi Beach needs help at wide receiver, and they go with the proven recreate user here to give their QB another weapon.
5th Overall - Kansas City
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Tight End, Defensive Back
Pick: Luke Hunter @TubaDeus - Safety
Rationale: KCC needs help in the defensive backfield, so they call upon their former GM and a slam dunk user.
6th Overall - Dallas
Team Needs: Quarterback, Defensive Line, Defensive Back
Pick: Paul Edgecomb @TomHanks - Safety
Rationale: Dallas brings in the former DSFL Commish with the huge bank account to help solidify their defensive backfield and bring a great locker room presence to the squad.
7th Overall - Tijuana
Team Needs: Wide Receiver, Defensive Back, Offensive Line
Pick: Simon Winston @Sizzzle - Cornerback
Rationale: TIJ snags a very promising new create defensive back who has been knocking out tasks left and right!
8th Overall - Portland
Team Needs: Defensive Line, Linebacker, Offensive Line
Pick: Siri Kjellström @bex - Linebacker
Rationale: Portland is thrilled to grab the former ISFL commish at the back of the 1st round, and she'll no doubt be a great figure to have on the team, both in the locker room and on the field.
Thanks for reading, let me know what your predictions are! I know I went pretty recreate heavy for round 1 of a DSFL draft, but there are lots of good ones and a lot of the new creates have been a bit on the quiet side. I hope that I'm wrong and we see more new folks in round 1 tonight! As always, remember that it doesn't matter where you are picked, it matters what you do after.
