Obviously with myself being a linebacker, I am very invested in how well I am doing compared to some Hall of Famers, but also I think we have some really amazing talent at linebacker that are crushing it and themselves on their own way to the Hall of Fame as well.
I have done 6 seasons of my career now, so I wanted to check in and see how my career has measured up after 6 seasons against some of the people I have deemed to be important in this regard. I am not sure why I have chosen exactly these people, but I guess to me there is some reason to it:
Julian O'Sullivan @JuOSu - my first player and therefore very interesting to me and also did make the Hall of Fame, albeit at a very different time
Big Slammu @moonlight - one of, if not the best linebacker of all time and also probably the best linebacker in the history of my own team, the Honolulu Hahalua
Melvin Murder-Moose @SchwarzNarr - an incredible linebacker that also (I assume) is in the hall of fame and among the best at the position
Akaki Akayre @Ulaire - Incredible Linebacker who has had a hell of a start to their career, they are an S36 player and just completed their 8th season
Cruella de Ville @Exilizer - The other incredible Linebacker right now who also has crushed it so far, they are an S38 player and just completed their 7th season
Maxwell Jacob Friedman @JuOSu - my current player, I have done alright so far and I am a S39 player and just completed my 6th season
So obviously like I said, some of these happened at very different points. O'Sullivan was S3, Slammu and Murder-Moose happened in the 25-35 rangeish and now the last three are current players, one year each removed.
For me, the most sense is to compare them at the time when they are all the same, i.e. right now Maxwell is the youngest with 6 seasons, so let's compare everyone after 6 seasons in their career to see where they are at and how they look. Can the three current guys measure up at this stage? Obviously longevity plays a factor in career stats down the line, but I think this is still telling in regards to career records or how on pace we all are to reach the Hall of Fame.
And I guess without further ado, let's look at some of the main categories and compare everyone after six seasons:
Tackles:
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 648
Akaki Akayre 622
Cruella de Ville 616
Julian O'Sullivan 586
Melvin Murder-Moose 577
Big Slammu 524
Slammu had a very low first season and started slowly, but obviously still had a monster career by the end. In Tackles, it is awesome to see my own player leading the way. Friedman has had 90+ tackles every season, 100+ four out of the six seasons and last season lead the league with over 140 tackles. A good start for Maxwell. Interestingly at the end of their careers, Slammu is now in 4th place all time, Melvin in 7th and Julian in 14th.
Tackles for Loss:
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 58
Cruella de Ville 48
Akaki Akayre 37
Big Slammu 22
Julian O'Sullivan 20
Melvin Murder-Moose 16
Another category that Maxwell does exceptionally well in, something that I have definitely loved to see. It's a leaderboard I was very high on with Toblerone too and I hope to do similar with Maxwell. It's clear to see the earlier season guys doing less good here, due to sim and such, but even compared to the current guys, I am definitely on top. Despite that, Slammu still ended up in 10th all time, whereas Murder-Moose ended up in 57th (same spot Maxwell is already in now) and Julian isn't even in the top 100.
Sacks:
Melvin Murder-Moose 78
Akaki Akayre 77
Cruella de Ville 69
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 63
Julian O'Sullivan 58
Big Slammu 54
First category where Maxwell is doing less good. 63 is still respectable but clearly behind some of the top guys here. That being said, Slammu is tied with Murder-Moose for the career record in sacks despite being behind 24 here. O'Sullivan is 58th. Akayre obviously has two more seasons already after his 77 in this moment and at the current time (after 8 seasons) he is already in the top 20 all time. Insane. But we will get to that in later seasons. It's obvious Maxwell won't be measuring up here, but it is still very respectable.
Pass Deflections:
Melvin Murder-Moose 77
Big Slammu 56
Julian O'Sullivan 54
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 47
Akaki Akayre 44
Cruella de Ville 42
Murder-Moose with another big lead here, the rest sort of in the same range overall, with the newer guys in this category lower than the rest.
Interceptions:
Julian O'Sullivan 11
Melvin Murder-Moose 8
Big Slammu 7
Cruella de Ville 7
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 5
Akaki Akayre 4
Similar situation here.
Safeties:
Akaki Akayre 4
Big Slammu 3
Julian O'Sullivan 2
Cruella de Ville 2
Melvin Murder-Moose 1
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 0
Definitely a bad look here for Maxwell. I do well in tackles and TFLs, even sacks is decent, but here is where I do not compare to Akayre and others.
Defensive TDs:
Melvin Murder-Moose 3
Akaki Akayre 3
Big Slammu 1
Julian O'Sullivan 1
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 0
Cruella de Ville 0
See above comment about not holding up here.
Forced Fumbles:
Akaki Akayre 20
Cruella de Ville 20
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 19
Melvin Murder-Moose 11
Big Slammu 6
Julian O'Sullivan 3
Whenever I look at the index, I just notice what fumble machines Akayre and de Ville are. Friedman is sticking with them at least with forced fumbles though!
Fumbles Recovered:
Cruella de Ville 10
Akaki Akayre 8
Big Slammu 6
Maxwell Jacob Friedman 3
Melvin Murder-Moose 3
Julian O'Sullivan 1
Yeah here is where the fumble machines differ a lot. FRs are not my thing and it shows.
So what is the moral here? I honestly don't know. I think all in all, all three of us Linebackers that are currently going are on a path towards the Hall of Fame, for better or for worse, but I do think Maxwell does look to be 3rd best among the three current ones, despite the tackles and tackles for loss statistics. I think I will have a very uphill climb too, based on the seasons that Akayre and de Ville have already had in current time and so this might look even worse after next season. My prime really needs to take a step forward if I want to be in the same conversation as the other two.
