(Champions of the Island)

Honolulu is celebrating its 25th anniversary as we wrap up S46. During this time there have been many great users who have been a big part of the history of the Hahalua and the successes that have been brought to the island. Many individuals have helped shape the Hahalua to what they are today and deserve special recognition.

In a long overdue manner, the Hahalua front office would like to introduce to you the Honolulu Pookela O Ka Mokupuni or also known as “Champions of the Island”. This is set out to recognize those who went above the call of duty to help the team as a user or who found top level success as a player. Those inducted will either be inducted as Mea Pāʻani for their player or Mea Hoʻohana as the user. These inductees will forever be a part of the top Honolulu history. Their spirits will forever be with the island and help guide those to come. Those inducted will forever be known as Aiwaiwa.

Aiwaiwa (ā-ī'-wă-ī'-wă), n. In a good sense: 1. Possession of eminently or unusually good qualities; a good characteristic; excellence; superiority.

Today we are excited to introduce our first class of Pookela O Ka Mokupuni. I have been lucky enough to share a war room or GM all these users. There is not a better group of people to represent the Honolulu culture that we have today. As an expansion team there are unique challenges you face and for these individuals to put in the effort to build this team from the ground up is something I and the front office will always appreciate.

Note: This is only the first wave of HOF inductees. We are excited to continue to honor those who built Honolulu and for all those that come.

Number 82
Mea Hoʻohana



Number 82 was an easy first choice for our Honolulu Island of Champions. 82 was a crucial part of Honolulu's first championship in Season 31. 82 displayed an unparalleled understanding of team dynamics, roster building, and the art of sim testing. 82 is most known for his sim testing and giving the Hahalua the best chance going into each and every game but he did so much more for this organization. He found great off-season pickups to target and also was able to, on many occasions, find the perfect temporary solutions to fill a gap in the roster. Although never a GM, he helped with all the management of the team including the draft and the future scope of the Hahalua. Most important for any great user, he was a great presence in the locker room. This team had a lot of growth during his time and he remained a key piece of that locker room. 82’s tips and tricks still remain pinned in the war room to this day which shows the influence he has had on this organization.

I was personally lucky enough to briefly share a war room with 82 and I don’t believe his sim testing dedication will ever be surpassed. No one in this league deserved and Ultimus more than 82 in season 31.

Raven
Mea Hoʻohana



Raven is a long time friend of mine in this league and I’m super excited to announce his recognition in Pookela O Ka Mokupuni. Raven founded the team back in S22 and has been a staple of the team's growth ever since.

Raven has had multiple players on the roster since founding Honolulu and played a key role in our war room during these times. Outside of the war room activities Raven has always been a leader in our locker room and continuously engaging and providing content to drive conversations.

Raven is not only a HOF caliber user for Honolulu but a HOF user for the league. Raven has been in the league since day 1 and has always been able to provide us with a great history of both Honolulu and the league itself. Whether we are able to bring Raven back to Honolulu or not he will now forever be a part of the team's great history.

Venus Powers
Mea Pāʻani



Venus Powers was the first ever Honolulu Hahalua inducted into the ISFL HOF and we welcome them today to the Pookela O Ka Mokupuni.

Venus is a four time pro bowler, two time kicker of the year, and a  punter of the year, during her time with the Hahalua. Venus played in Honolulu from S22 until they retired in S30.

Though most of Venus’ career was before my time in Hon, I am excited to be able to induct them into the Honolulu Pookela O Ka Mokupuni where they will forever be apart of this rich history.

Cobra Kai
Mea Pāʻani


Cobra is another user who has represented Hahalua in the ISFL Hall of Fame. Cobra was someone I had the chance to be both teammates and GM during my time in Honolulu. Cobra was a staple for our team during both our S31 and S34 championship run.

Cobra Kai made both the HON and ISFL despite having a shortened career for the sake of the team. With an earlier retirement Kai was able to open the doors for future running backs, and help create a timeline with a future QB.

Cobra Kai is a two time champion with the Hahalua while also earning many awards. The biggest of Kai’s awards came during the S35 championship run where he won Offensive player of the Year. Additionally, Kai is a 5 time pro bowler and 4 time All-pro during his time in Honolulu. He also won Running Back of the year in S30 and Returner of the year in S33. 

Kia was a key factor in bringing the first Ultimus to the island. He played a pivotal rule in setting the foundation for what Honolulu is today.

Big Slammu
Mea Pāʻani


When you think of the Honolulu Defense during their championship runs in the mid 30’s you can’t help but picture Big Slammu. Big Slammu was the centerpiece of one of the top defenses of its time.

Big Slammu is a 3 time champion with the Hahalua and brings in many individual awards. Slammu is a five time pro bowler and all pro with the Hahalua.  In both S32 and S36 Slammu was named Defensive player of the year. Slammu also won Linebacker of the year in S32.

Most impressive of Slammus' career is he is the current career leader in sacks with 152 over his career. Slammu is also top ten career in defensive tackles, safeties, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.

Moonlight - super happy you were able to find you way to Honolulu (and back). You created the template of what we always hope for in our defense and the linebacker position. Super glad got the opportunity to be your GM. You are now forever Aiwaiwa.

MMFlex
Mea Hoʻohana



The one I have been most excited to write about. My Co-Gm over the last 13 seasons….

MMflex is a huge reason for the culture shift in Honolulu from the late 20’s to a championship caliber team. The addition of Flex to both the team and as a GM will be marked as one of the best moves in Honolulu’s history. Flex was able to come in and quickly turn a ghost town of a locker room and build it up to a place people wanted to be. That includes both members of Hon and members of other teams around the league. While doing this he set a clear plan in place to take a subpar organization and build it into a respected organization. Flex now has 4 Ultimus’ in his tenure. Flex has been the push behind “championship or 1oa”. This mindset is something that has become the culture in HON and our own unique identity.

Flex has always been about taking care of our guys first and at the end of the day not caring about the wins and losses that come with that. Flex has played so much more than just a sim league GM role in alot of our players lives and I think that’s an incredible feat in itself.

As a Co-GM to flex he has been a great balance to myself. Always able to reign in some of the crazier ideas while also getting myself and the war room to push to be able to make that championship caliber team. Flex has been a great read of character over the years when drafting new prospects. Flex has always stood up for Honolulu but always made sure that his and Honolulu’s actions don’t negatively affect the league, and rather push it to grow.   

It's been an absolute pleasure to Co-GM with you and you will be truly missed, but glad to still have such an outstanding guy and sim-leaguer in our war room. I know GMing is something you will dearly miss but know you’ve done so much good for both HON, the players that have come through the organization and myself.

Flex has won 4 Ulitmus’s as GM of the Hahalua with 3 GMoTY awards. Not only is Flex one of the best GM’s Hon has ever had but one of the best GM’s the league has ever had. I can’t wait to support the campaign for your push into the ISFL GM HOF.
